Hey guys I just picked up one of these Tangos the other day from my hobby shop, it had a small piece that was cracked so he sold it to me for $80 so I couldnt pass it up. This is my first gas plane and didnt want to spend alot. Just wondering what you would recommend for servos? I was thinking of Futaba S3003 with probably a Thunder Tiger .46 not sure how much power this is going to put out vs. the Saito in the movie but Im guessing not near as much. Is it real important for this plane to have a big motor for it to fly good? Any input is appreciated.

I flew my tango today with the eflite 45 motor the plane is alot of fun to fly. I think a tt46 would fly one great this one guy i know has been flying his with tower hobbbies 46. Asforservosgo ahead and get the 3003 you dont need to spend a bundle on digitals. enjoy the plane. I was really surprised at how well the e flite 46 hauled it around or should i say the batteries that i bought cost a fortune but a 40 size epower is something i have wanted to do. So i wouldnt have go to the flying field after work this has been a fun experiment.

the 46 will work in it . but climb rate will be lacking . still it will climb
.... imho a big prop with a low pitch works best a 12.25X3.75 W workes nice to but not enough load for motor saito 82

i got a tango 3 months ago, put a os 70 4 stroke and flys great cg is at 4.5. flew for a few weeks and landed haerd and lost my motor due to over size of my motor mount holes. then put a tower hobbies 46 with a 12.25/3.75 prop and it still flies great.

did the motor come out all the way or just loose?
i lost a bolt in mine to i seen it the empty hole when i was putting fule in it. snaping the tail wheel off has slowed the next flight comeing . [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]and a new tail wheel or a used one .
jdkxtreme i have a saito 82gk in mine. max rated motor for the plane

you know the motor mounts in the box are not metal so i take it that it pulled through and motor fell to the ground

Hi zac dady, I received a Tango 40 for Christmas and like you I am thinking about going electric with my first 40 sized plane. Have you flown yours yet? Was the E-flite Power 46 BL Outrunner sufficient for this size plane? Did you use the recommended 13x6.5E prop? I agree, the batteries cost way too much, but what can you do. I have a couple of 40-52 sized gassers laying around that I could use, but want to try the bigger sized electrics. The thread on RC Universe has me concerned that it may not be that great of a plane though. Several negative comments about how it flies. How well did yours fly --- gem5tigers

Jay everything is going well just got back to doniphan yesterday flying your tango with skies that sounds fun. The tango with an e flite 46 has some scoot im using the recomended prop from apc but i have 15-6 apc i might try out. I have two batteries now the tango is a fun sport plane to fly. one thing i had to do was put the battery clear to the front of the firewall to balance it out. Another thing i learned when i was at home the church parking lot in mullen is fine for my 480 sized birds but not so great for 40 sized birds. The airport in mullen was clear of snow so i flew the tango two more times. I think e power is alot of fun on this plane but three hundred dollar price tag on the batteries blow but well worth it when you fly it. Over all the tango is alot of fun.

sunday i was out at the rc club with the tango it was a good day to fly we had a little wind blowing it wa 8 am and the pit only had one other person there i bumped the motor over with the starter and it was running i took it of the starting block and set it on the groung and rolled out to the run way and YELLED TAKEING OFF the guy in the pitts said clear i putt a 1/4 throttle and the tail lifted and soon <15 foot> the wheel were dangleing in the grass and the motor thunmped off slow rpm's i moved the throttle to 1/2 and went stright up a good ways up and nosed it overtill it went past down and on to upside down then flipped it over thats when i seen a black pice fall off i was puzzeled and was trying to watch both when the guy in the pitt said what is that i said can you see were its going to fall yes he replyed i did a slow low pass to see what was missing the right wheel and shaft was missing i was puzzled again should i land now or fly a little longer as thought of the landing gear diging into the ground and ripping the plane into parts were flashing in my mind the guy in the pitts yelled on the run way and soon i was hearing i found your wheel and shaft and lock down collar < cont>

he walks up and say you know as big as the wing is and the controll are by the time it cant hold the missing wheel up in the air its not going to hurt it but if you drag it befor then pow that sounds like good 2 cents i came in and set it down on that 1 wheel and had the missing wheel up when it started getting low it was so slow when it hit it only hobbled just a little maby 2 bumps and stop with the motor still running and no prop strike ... the shaft is solder on to the nut on the landing gear by the way the landing tail gear i fixed i made a leaf spring set up

I had that happin to me the spot weld on the back of the wheel shaft was not holding, so a spot weld with the wire welder fixed that. now I have skis on it.

Got a question on how to mount the gas tank on this plane. I got mine together ready to fly but the instructions said secure the tank in with the supplied rubberbands. Mine didnt have any rubberbands in it. I did put the receiver plate thing thats suppose to help keep it in place but thats all thats currently holding it in spot and dont want to rely on just that to hold it in spot because I had to trim that to get it to fit right so Its not as strong as it was. Anyone else run into this when they were assembling theirs?

Hey booger, does the engine in your tango seem to be tilted up a tad? I put a OS la65 I had in mine an with everything bolted up solid an right the engine seems to be tilted up just a tad from level. I'm just wondering if that is how they built it or if the firewall is not glued in right from the factory. I'm pretty much at a standstill till this question is resolved...

One of our guys at the field got one and did not enjoy it. I dont think he is much of a fun fly person though. I personally love anything sport or funfly. My favorite airplane is the hot hots if that tells you anything. It might fly good to the funfly type.

In my box came two seperate tray things. One was definatly for the e-power but the other was had the front notched to fit around the gas tank. It fit in for the most part other than the screw hold didnt like up so I trimmed it so it would but now the question I have it where are these phantom rubberbands that are "included" and how are they suppose to be strapped in to support the tank? Not quite sure Im comfortable to fly it how it is.

Hey, I've ask in 3 different places on 2 different forums about the angle of my engine an still haven't got any answer from somebody that actually has one to ck.

I don't see anywhere for the rubber bands to go either, I don't even have any rubber bands with my plane. I don't know where they come up with that.
