Nope.
If you bought your DL from DL-USA, Bob includes really good written instructions. There's a lot of information on my website, links to other pages with info about gasser setups.

The optical kill is just that - it is an electronically-isolated, fiber-optically coupled electronic switch FOR the ignition battery. It uses a channel from the RX, actuated by a tx switch, to disconnect power to the ignition on demand.

You do need an ignition battery on a DL 50.

The optical kill switch isolates the ignition electrical system from the radio electrical system, but allows you to kill the engine from your transmitter. You still need a separate ignition battery.

My Fuji 43 recommended a 1400 mAh pack but it actually draws very little (188mA/h). The EI unit should have a recommendation from the mfg.

Every one of my airplanes has an Optical Kill Switch built in - and they always will.

As soon as I lose sight of my plane or take my eyes off to watch some bikini-clad distraction, my plane dies! Every time!
