What plane is that? Edge 540? What size prop? Have you ran it? If so, what's your RPM?

If I could afford it that would be my engine of choice for 3d. That engine in an Extreme Flight yak would be great. I used to have an UltraRC katana that I wish had a 160. It would have come in under 10lbs with that motor. Anything under 12 lbs and you will have an outrageous combo. If anyone wants to give me or loan me one I'll be happy to put it in a 3d plane. You can right it off as sponsoring a college student. LOL

Its the baddest engine in its class bar none.. There is nothing else that comes even remotely close, but you have to be willing to fork out the $$$.

I had one on the Extreme Flight Yak 74" and it was awesome.

Not entirely true, the 1.70DZ is a monster too!

I just saw that motor pull a racer similart to a Sundowner 50 past 140mph this weekend on a chopped 12x10. No joke insanity!

Bet the air frame last less than 25 flights with it hard mounted. One lean backfire and it'll split that fuse like kindling.

I typically use a Merle Hyde "Firm Mount" when using my DZ. It allows you to mount up the engine normally (no nosering) and it dampens the shock and vibration to the point that it does not effect the aiframe. I have lots of flights with the Firm Mount (www.centralhobbies.com) and its been a really great tool.

Pretty cheap too. Seems like it was <$50 if memory serves me.

I use Hyde mounts as well. Even on the new showtime 50 I'm building with a YS.63.

The first post shows that YS1.60DZ hard mounted. It won't last long.

If the plane was similar in size to a sundowner 50 and swinging a chopped 12x10 the engine you probably saw was a YS 63. A 160DZ in a 5 pound plane would never balance, it would only have enough fuel with the stock tank for 4 minute flights, and the engine would not last more than a flight or two with a prop that small on it.
