hi guys I just got mine in the red white blue and black scheme. I can't believe there are not more people on here with these! I have seen the comments that you have to see these in person to appreciate the quality I'm tellin you its true. Absolutely the best quality plane I have had. The covering job is really really top drawer with no wrinkles at all and looks great. One pretty neat thing I saw is that there are three carbon rods in the front end just aft of the firewall for support they run from the firewall back to the landing gear block neat idea.

I have been assembling my pilot x and the dash panel first they look really good. Does anyone know where I can get a really really small aresti diagram to go in the center of the cockpit panel?

Another shot of my new Extra....

I have not been able to find a practical way to charge my batteries at the field. So far the best way, seems to be a portable generator, which means that I would have to expend other $600. Hence, I am now seriously considering using a YS 63 as power plant.

I bought this plane to practice 3D. That is why I am favoring the YS 63, instead of the Saito 82. Have any of you tried the YS 63? Would it fit nicely inside the cowl? Any tips?

Since my first option was electric, I am using one servo for elevator, and a pull-pull system for the rudder.

I bring along a spare car battery I use too charge my stuff with. I can recharge my 3-4000 mah batteries many times at the field. I bought an optima battery from pep boys which is a sealed cell battery and can take the abuse. I use a battery tender or a fast charger to maintain it.

When I was flying high performance electric sailplanes... I use to take 2 motorcycle batteries.... worked great

A guy on RCG has a 63 in his as Im sure many more do also. The .82 is over kill in my opinion . Its all up to you what you want to use.

I practice 3D everytime I go flying. I dont ever think Ill stop practicing either ohh and fixing!

This plane is fun! Tracks so straight in loops rolls etc. You'll see what Im talking about when you get it in the air.

Finally got to fly mine today....

What a little hotrod!!! (Saito 82 / Xoar 14-6 / Coolpower 30% pro pattern)

Crisp handling and very responsive.... smooth, great tracking, very low coupling

Another GREAT day out with the Extra.... got her all dialed in.

Truly a very very nice flying airplane... it thinks it is bigger... shhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

The fuel tank is to big... because.... the airframe is so clean it takes very little throttle to fly it! (Saito 82)

Anybody tried a smaller tank yet???

Nahh A guy I know at the field flies a 200cc on his slabs. I still think that may be pretty big after you lean the .82 out. Ill try that first.

If you ever thing about it try a 14x4w.

I think I am going to an 8 oz tank all the way back against the spar tube and a Perry VP-20 pump.

the pump will allow the most rearward tank location and a consistant mix. I am going a little lean on extended vertical lines as it is now.

This litle bird is worth tweaking for max performance..... very nice airframe

Id go with a Regulator, much cleaner IMO. Ive dealt with the pump thing before and wont go back to it. Clines are lightweight also.

Yep.... the Cline fuel system is great no doubt.... but they are $63 shipped now.... ouch

Yeah I had one on my 1.80 , still have it , Changed back to the Iron Bay reg. for simplicity reasons. This is just me though. Others including yourself may feel great using the pump , go for it!

Sorry I havnt gotten up with you on that sticker, I have some stuff to get thats eating up the funds right now.

Repairs to this plane included! [:-] Refreshing the carb on the 180 that powers the 74" Yak.

No worries on the stickers.... I am not really pushing them right now because of health reasons... if I would have known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.

Just looked through my tanks.... I have a 6oz.... wonder how long of flight that would provide?

I think I will try the Perry VP-20 first.... since it is about half the price. I remember when the Cline was 30 bucks.

14x4w APC I have a couple others 14x6 etc. Ill put on for pattern. But the 14x4w worked really good for that also. Will add a bit of weight up front though,the only negative.

SDS the 6 ounce tank would be right around 177cc which should be perfect IMO

Youll be cutting the time in half and I stopped counting at 40min with the leaned out .82
on the 300cc/13 ounce tank. I felt like I was hogging the field as the guys were letting me have the air all to myself with the plane that day. 30 minutes of flying is fun sometimes but not pratical in most cases. Plus the nose seems to get rather heavy.

You going to try it out? Let us know how it goes please.
