I'm trying to learn what I can about aileron reflex and am looking for some imput. I have a few questions.
1) What is aileron reflex?
2) How or when does it help with 3D flying?
3) How is it programmed ? (especially on a Futaba 9C)
I've been watching 3d pilots and it looks like some of the better ones are using aileron reflex. Is this an accurate observation?

Are you referring to spoilerons where both ailerons go up to assist with harriers?
People started doing it to help with wing rock.. some planes are hard to harrier becauze you are fighting the wing rock constantly. I can't tell you how to program it because I don't use it, sorry.
Personally I don't see why people use it.. I think you should learn how to do it properly and most of the good pilots I have seen don't use it. Most of the common planes (Extra, Yak Edge, Sukhoi, Cap) will harrier properly once you learn how that plane likes to do it. For example, I can harrier most planes pretty well.. however last week I was flying a 40% Comp-Arf Extra for the first time and I couldn't get it harrier when my buddy can do it all day long. It just takes time to learn how the plane likes it. In the case of the Comp-ARF it's heavily throttle related.

Why not use something that will help? Personaly, I don't have alot of time to spend at the field and I'll take whatever helps me be a better pilot. No shame in doing that. All the pro fliers cheat. You don't see any of them running "standard" radios without any mixing capabilities do you? I don't fly Futaba but with my radio, one servo plugs into an aileron channel and the other into the flap channel. I use the flap swith to activate. It has 3 positions-neutral, middle, and full.

I am not saying you are cheating... I am just saying you are further ahead to learn how to do it properly.
It's fine and dandy when flying your own plane but what happens when you go to fly someone else's plane that doesnt have it? Personally I am lucky enough to get asked to fly a lot of planes that aren't mine for a maiden or just so people can see what it can do 3D wise.. if I relied on spoilerons to fix my problem with harriers then I wouldn't be able to do them with other people's planes.
Sure lots of top pilots use mixes to help with KE or flat turns but all of them can also fly those same planes without the mixes anytime they want.. but for competition most want that added edge so they can focus on other things.
I have my main plane right now mixed for nice flat turns for IMAC but during KE I have to fly it through it because it doesn't act the same.. you are a better plilot in my mind if you "cheat" as little as possible. You could put in a gyro to help you hover but I am against that too

Most computer transmitters have flaperon capability. Just use that in reverse or use negative values or whatever. Obviously each aileron servo must be on a seperate channel. You program them into a switch on your transmitter. The spoilerons will try to force your nose up as if you were tail heavy. It is really exciting flying when you don't realize they are on, especially if you try to roll.
