I'm looking for a .15 size (or smaller) true 3D plane that will hover, harrier, and do true 3D. Super light wing loading.
Hopefully an ARF but I'll build if I have to.
No electrics, already been there.
Thanks

Not that I've heard of.
However, Joe at down on the deck rated the world models .30 extra as a good small 3D plane. He said it harriers and does most of the 3D stuff well. Suprising for its size given that it is not a funfly type of plane. I am thinking about getting this one just to see for myself. Quantum models has them for $129 I think.

I may have posted that other link. Here it is again. It's in Japanese, called "Fun 15". Let the page load and look at all the planes there. You can figure out the wieghts, sizes, etc, by the specs.
There's even electric 3D planes, and small 4 stroke planes.

Go to http://world.altavista.com/ and drop
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~be4y-tnm...a/onakama.html
into the Translate Webpage > Japanese to English
It's not exact to say the least (but it's fun reading!) you can get the gist of what they are talking about.

Thanks for the posts but I had a hard time finding much on either the Komacrow or Fun 15.
I think I will try converting a small electric 3D plane like the Mini Laser to glow.
Electric to Glow conversion, might be a new fad

Why convert?
The Mini Laser 3D is available in glow form already.

Thanks wildpalms
I didn't know the Mini Laser came in glow and an ARF . I'll have to surf around to find an online retailer so I can have some fun like that guy in the picture.
That's my idea of an ideal summer afternoon, running from my plane until my thumbs can catch up with it

Hey geoharry...Could you please let me know if you find a retailer that carries the Mini Laser 3D Gas version? I'm very interested in this little plane as well.
I also have a plan (sorta) of the Komacro if you want it. I found it while doing research the other day on this plane. It's in .pdf format (Adobe Acrobat), and it looks like it is split up into 35 pages (8 1/2" x 11"). I think if you print them all up and piece them together, you'd have the whole plan. I do get an error telling me to install some Japanese Language Update when viewing it. But maybe you'll have better luck with it. I really haven't spent much time trying to figure it out yet.
I also have a bunch of videos of the Komacro in action if you haven't seen them yet. It is a VERY impressive airplane! You'd never know that it is only powered by an OS 15LA by watching the videos. Looks very stable, too, for such a small plane!

Sorry I didn't have any luck finding the Mini Laser in glow. The plane is listed on the company web site but that's the only place I can find it.
I may buy the electric version and just throw a .15 on it.
I don't really have the time to build from plans but thanks, that Komacro looks like a cool plane. We need a distributer in the US to sell it as an ARF.
Off to surf the EZone, they may have some cool electric ARF's I can bolt a .15 to.

I don't know if you tried it already, but I emailed the people at Laser (using the email address on the company web page you mentioned), and asked them if there is any retailer that carries the gas version here in the states.
...I'm still waiting for a reply...
I'll keep you informed if I hear anything!

Wow!
That is a neat maneuver Greg...how do you do it?
I read all the information on the Mini Laser web site posted by wildpalms, and I didn't see anything mentioned on whether it could do that or not.
...I'm still looking for a US dealer...
I did get a reply from Laser Models though, they said that all there products are distributed through Hobbico in the US. Well...off to do some more searching.

To everyone that I sent the plans of the Komacro 15 to...I found the file that makes the whole plan Viewable & Printable without any errors.
It can be downloaded here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acroba...nfontpack.html
Just make sure to select Japanese!
It's still divided up into a bunch of 8 1/2" x 11" pages...but it has all the detail you would ever need to build it!
Enjoy!

I found a good looking .15 size 3D ARF...for those that are interested!
...And this ones not in Japanese either!

Let me know what you think...or if you've heard anything about this plane.

That is what I've been looking for. The plane looks good but I wish and ailerons and rudder were a little bigger though. Also, $150 seems a little steep for a .15 size ARF
I don't know anything about this plane but it's big brother is supposed to be a nice 3D plane.
For the price, I'm still leaning toward the Mini Laser. Another option is Creek Hobbies (which is 25 min from me) new .15 size 3D ARF. Too bad it's still on the boat from China, should be here in a month and is only $80 (I think). I'll have to stop by the store and get the details.
Thanks

Do you have a picture, or web link showing the new Creek Hobbies .15 size 3D ARF that you mentioned. I don't think I've seen it yet.
Now that you mention it...$150 is only $20 less than I paid for my UCD!

I was wondering if I could get an opinion on something?
I got a bunch of Midwest Electric Hots kits laying around, and was wondering if these could be made to fly 3D with some modifications? I picked up a bunch of them years ago when a hobby store was clearing out some stock. They only cost me $19 each!
Anyway, I was wondering if I redid the tail group with some good 3D surfaces & throws, and modified the wing with larger ailerons & no wing tips (stock length is 41" with tips). Finally, I'd have to lighten it up a whole bunch! It says the stock kit comes out to 32-36 oz. with a glow engine! The fuselage is solid wood sheeting. So I should be able to lighten it up quite a bit.
I think if I use the Laser 3D & Komacro 15 plans that I have as a reference, and modify whatever I can to these parameters, I may just have something that will be able to 3D. Assuming, of course, I can get the weight down to at least 20 oz.
Well, what do you think...does it have a chance?
I fly a stock Hots with a Magnum .10, and it does all normal maneuvers really well. It actually flys really big, for such a small plane. But, I haven't flown it since I've gotten into 3D stuff, and I know it definitely wouldn't do any 3D the way it is now. But if I can do the mods I want to do, and put a .15 in it...who knows?
I'd appreciate any thoughts on the matter
