Building the Seduction Freestyle - more tips added.

I am so envious of you folks who have this plane. I'm waiting for mine. Singapore Hobbies says they'll send it to me as soon as they get them in. Anyone with an update? Meanwhile I'll just keep reading these posts and turn greener.

h82crash I'm as green as you are...
How do these guys build so quickly - don't they have anything else to do??

I am still waiting for mine to be built by a professional builder - sent all the engine and gear to him already. Waiting behind some other planes that he has to complete.
mups53 The tinted canopy looks so nice! I noticed you did not enlarge the ailerons tho. Just stock. Let us know how it turns out...
For the YS-63 I think all the locals use 13x4W or 14x4W on fun flys. Slow prop, but quick acceleration!
kris1 thanks for the flying report... cool plane! I'm turning from green to purple now...

If you've noticed the spinner that is shown on the front of the Seduction Freestyle box, it is plastic with a lightened backplate (just like Tru Turns optional backplates). I bought one last month in Okinawa, it is made by OK Models. It does not need a prop adapter, and is very light. Now for the good news, Great Planes just started carrying these. Worth looking into, will save you enough money so that you can afford some digital servos!

h82crash, where do you fly? I fly at the border (Chula Vista).

I fly at the Weedwackers in Lakeside. Good bunch of guys. Not many pattern flyers though. Only a handful of us 3D and most 3D only profile fun-fly's. Nothing like seeing scale aircraft torque roll down the runway. We're trying to increase enthusiasm for pattern but it's not easy. Can't wait for my Seduction. Till then I'll have to fly my Kyosho .60 Cap (most fun plane I've owned..so far).

Well I finally had my 1st flights last night. I have 2 words to describe my initial reaction,( THROTTLE MANAGEMENT)!!!! The YS 63 with that 13X6 APC is alot more power than I expected. Me likey alotey!!! It's really cool flying a plane that only weighs 4 lbs 3 oz. with that much raw power. The plane flys very stable. Rolls very axle with little or no mixing on knife edge. Hovers like a chopper. Lands and takes off like a STOL. Then came my 2nd flight. I was having so much fun that I forgot to pay attention to how much fuel I had left. I went into a hover at around 20 feet off the ground and opps Oh S------t she quit. After a 15 foot tail slid and a near stall recovery the tree at the edge of our field decided to have some fun and hit my plane. You just stand there for a moment and try to rationilize your fate. It's only a hobby and man am I stupid. I walked out to pick up the expected rubble. Thank you lord it came down in such a manner as to not even break a prop. Absolutly no damage. So I'll have a chance now to really learn how to fly it. I like to live on the edge too much but with this plane I'm going to take it a little easier because I really like it. I wish you all good luck with yours. Mike

Hey guys,
Word of warning re the spinner. I made the mistake of using a goldberg plastic one. The torque was so hi from the motor that is caused the prop to slip, causing the prop to weld its self the the back plate. Well I know, you all could have told me... So don't worry about the weight of an ali spinner on t 4lbs aeroplane. The problem is now that the ali spinner I have don't match up to the cowl which has been cut etc for the goldberg one.
But I have a pal that works in composites and he has made me a glass one. If anybody is intrsted I can pass on his E mail address. PS we are in the UK.
Cheers
Kris
PS once the new spinner is fitted I will post some photos.

You say you are in the UK? I have a Seduction and had a custom u/c made by CarbonCopyUK in Stevenage. Its a good piece of work, perhaps a tad heavy but seems strong enough to cope. I'd like a spinner... you have any details? If you are in the South, fancy a test-flight day?
Mine is the trans purple variant, carbon u/c, YS63. Just needs to have the servos fitted and I'm off.

new 3d, that looks just like plain transparant tape to me...
shortman, the video link was at:
http://www23.tok2.com/home/cha2/movie/movieindex.htm
but it's not working at this moment.
Most of the Seduction info are from this site (Uno's site)

hope that helps, matt

hi Huang thank you for your answer, it does look like a plain transparent tape but i was woundering if this is the best way to attach the canopy to the fuse' (you can not glue it because of the ultra cote covers )
by the way o.k. model has this tape on their website (i could not understand if its something new...)
here is the link: http://www.okmodel.co.jp/shincyaku/acc.htm

My name is actually Jeff. RC 56 is the glue. Sorry for the confusion. Any well-stocked hobby shop should have, or be able to get, RC 56. There are some similar glues out there..maybe somebody will chime in with an equivalent.

Okay, here's a big secret tip for you.
You can use Ultracote to attach your canopy. You can use some RC 56 or other canopy glue to tack it in place if you want, then use a strip of matching (or contrasting) Ultracote. Use a trim iron on low heat. You can really stretch and conform Ultracote to do a nice job. It will stick to the canopy, trust me. Take an old canopy or the scraps from a trimmed canopy and try it. I like to get about 3/16" minimum on the canopy and the plane, so a 3/8" strip is about right. If you goof up, just warm the Ultracote and remove it. You only want enough heat to activate the adhesive. You really don't need to shrink anything if you pull the material tight as you go. If you're really picky you can taper the the very edge of the plastic canopy to help avoid a square edge.

If you look at the OK Model link that is in a couple of posts back, you will see the same spinner that you can get from Great Planes. Look at those 2 disks, they are 2 sided sandpaper pieces that when tightened down will not allow the prop to spin and shatter the spinner. These guys do their homework before releasing a product.

From: durham, NC,
I made a set of C/F landing gear that came out great and was super easy. Ordered some 5.8oz C/F cloth and aeropoxy from Aircraft spruce and specialty(USA). Peice of mylar on the table, one layer of 1/2 oz. glass, 7-8 layers cf cloth and another layer of glass(I think im right about the number of layers, and the glass is b/c cf is not very impact resistant) Sandwich all these layers together with another peice of mylar (you were wetting out each layer as you went right? using a credit card to squeegy out all the resin) Using the original as a plan I layed this sandwich onto it and used a peice of wood and clamps to get the shape and sqeeze any excess resin out. I also added 3 extra short layers at the radius near the fuse. much to my surprise it came out beautifully and very light. (this was for a 40 size cap)

OK Guys,
So here we go I will attach some files of mine and my palls rick's seduction FS's. Mine is the red and white one and is built as the instructions. I have a glass cowl to put on it, waiting for some time to do that. Ricks is highly modified. I am sure I could get around to telling you what he done but it will take an age. He wanted his to look diffrent from mine as we fly at the same field and we didn't want to be tlike the same brothers.
Cheers
Kris
