Guys, advices are really welcome here.
Some days ago I got an YS 110FZ-S from the South America E-bay, named Mercado Livre.
It was not a new engine, but it was looking like. It was a very good condiction engine.
So I installed it in my Funtana X 100, using Cool Power 20/20 and I started the flights.
The first flight was very good. Good power with an APC 16x6 sport.
But that was it. I had fun just in the first flight. After that, the engine become a nightmare. Impossible to tune. A massive power lost. The engine was getting overheat each flight, no matter how much I had richen the mix.
Well, without YS experience, I gone too far and I burned the engine. I sent it to a repair service and they told me my engine had the crankshaft warped plus the burned parts...
So, I believe the previous owner made me fool and sold me a crashed engine.
I couldn't find the replacements parts here in Brazil (I will try to import it directly from USA this next year and recover this engine), so I bought a new one for me. This one is really brand new
But I am totaly scared of this new engine right now.
I am afraid to burn this new one too.
I am following very close the manual break in instructions. I've made it run in the ground very rich for 20 minutes. Right now I am doing the 10 break in flights that the manual says about, but I don't know. It seems the engine is getting hot anyway.
Yestarday I made 2 flights. Good power. But when I was landing, I noticed a huge change in the idle. It was very high from the real idle level I took off for a moment and the engine was coming down some seconds after the radio stick.
This behavior is like low speed very poor. I opened it 1/4 of turn and the idle seems to be cool.
But after the flights, the engine seems to become very hot at the hand touch. I know we can't touch a engine that just stop running anyway, but now I am afraid and everything is a reason to make me scared.
Can anybody gives me adivices of how-not-to-burn-you-brand-new-YS-engine?
Does anybody knows the working temperature of the YS? I can mesure it here...
Thanks, guys!

My YS110 was ever so nice. I started tuning it with a baseline setting of HSN 2 turns out and LSN 2 turns out. Remember the LSN is an air bleed,so closing it makes the engine RICH i.e. less air. On a 16x6 you should keep her to about 9,500 RPMs max. That ought to keep your engine temp to around 95*C or so. Try not to touch the regulator settings.

Thank very much.
You bet I will stay at least one mile from the regulator settings.
I forgot to metion... I am using an APC 16x4W to break in process. But I am liking it so much, that I am thinking to use it to regular flights.
I am getting 10.500 RPM at full throttle and 2500 at the idle on the ground. What you thinh about this numbers?
Thank you for temp info. Mine seems to be around 90ΒΊ just after flight. I will take this number better next time.

do not tune ys engines for max rpms they like to run rich and leave smoke trails. the 20 20 fuel breaks down fast with high heat since it is synthetic. it is not like castor which can be run at higher temperature. The high and low speed are set like a conventional engine but the engine has to be under 200o rpm to set low speed. you let it idle for 20 seconds after first revving it high to clean it out. the pressure regulator is for fine adjustment to the mid range after high and low are set. for setting high and low a good starting place for pressure regulator is flush. after high and low set then you clear the engine at high rev and then reduce rev too about 3000 for 20 seconds and observe response when you rev it up. if it is loaded up turn the regulator in if it cough or dies instantly turn the screw out.

I think you need a little more prop.
"9300 to 9500 RPM is where you want to be, so you should try a few different props and find what will put the engine in that RPM range and fly your model the best for your tastes. "

Yeah ... don't forget to see a little smoke trail when you run on 20% oil ... 10,500 is a lot for the YS. I did touch 10,250 when I removed the muffler but I would tune mine to only 10,000 max as I only use burst on the throttle flying my Funtana 90, that plane does not fly fast at all so it was ok for me to tune her to about 10K RPM as most of the times I am on 40% throttle. Getting 9,500 RPM is nice on something like a 16x6.

Hello, guys!
First of all, thank you for the advices.
BTW, I took all of it and now I am running the 16x6 in much better tune.
Is everything almost fine, except for one detail.
I was running my engine with the low speed very rich. Rich enough to the engine becoming totaly wet and die after some minutes flying.
So, I just open a little the LS screw (to make it more poor) and I got a perfect tune. But after some good flying, when I am coming to land, the LS is totaly different than when I took off. Very, very high. I even can land the plane. I need to kill the engine first.
That's the situation. When I put the LS rich, the engine dies wet. When I put it more poor, the idle become very high after some flight to land.
What can I do?
The rest is OK. The high speed is perfect and I have power to share!
