Thank you for your insightful post Tavis. I am glad we can count on your vast experience and wisdom to help us out. You are a man of few words but you have reached me; I am now going to go break my U Can Do over my knee. Thank you for helping me realize that my plane is junk. What would I do without you?

Oh, don't toss it in the trash. I'll pick it up, have a few hundred flights until I crash it, then I'll toss it in the trash for ya. No service charge........

I ran the 15x6 for the first few flights and then put the 16x4 on it. I've been hovering with the 16x4 with no problems. To give a good comparison I need to go put the 15x6 on it and fly again now that I've got it tuned a little better.

I'm also running 30% and see no major issue with the 16x4.

I guess not. 30% makes an entirely different animal out of that engine.

Obviously he's interested in the plane since he's been reading this thread. Or, maybe he just wanted to punch a few buttons to get everyone riled! Shame on you TN!

Hey, quit that moonin! Where do you guys get those cool animations at? I see some on here that's not on the list. One guy had a real cool one where the little dude was firing a rocket. I haven't seen that one in quite a while.

Default Now to get back to UCD what do you all think on this?

What do you all think about This would this help or no?
The du-bro engine mount that get rid of vibration?

Du-Bro RC Motor Mount for 1.20 to 1.50 4-Stroke Eng.& 1.20 to 1.80 2-Cycle Engines (QTY/PKG: 1 Set )

Du-Bro's patented designed Motor Mounts are very effective in reducing airframe vibration and greatly reduce fatigue on the entire airframe. They are a totally captive mount that cannot debond and break free.

From what I understand those mounts like that do work to some benefit. I'm sure the best is the Hyde mount but they cost quite a bit. I know that Sullivan, Dubro, and Gator RC sells them. There are other companies as well. If you try one let us know how it works. I had thought about using one on my Saito 100 but never got around to it.

I have a Sullivan Dynamount on my UCD with good results.I think anything is better than the hard mount that comes with the kit.

They stopped making them until they can fix the rubber problem.

I see that Dave brown has one, but it looks like it weights a ton.

I do not want to spend 100 bucks for a mount either.

So what else is out there, for the UCD that would help with the vibration.

I tried out the APC 15x6 today ...

I like the 16x4w better for hovering, but honestly there are probably others that would prefer the 15x6. On the ground, the 15x6 sounds like it spools up a little bit quicker but I like the throttle response of the 16x4w in the air in a hover. Both have similar "torque roll effect". TR'ing masters might be able to tell a bit of a difference but I was not able to tell much of a difference in that respect. Both take the plane ballistic on command. The 15x6 seems to yield faster forward flight during normal flying ... but hey ... who does that with the UCD anyway??? <grin>

By the way ... I've named mine "3D Xtreme" and put graphics on it to that effect. I just cringe at the sounds of "U-Can-Do 3D" name!!

Hope everyone is enjoying theirs as much as I am mine...

Thanks for the prop review, Jamie. Looks like 15x6 is better for overall 3D but not necessarily for hovering.

Well,

I had 2 choices to solve my problem.

1) Modify the fuselage to lower the fuel tank to bring it inlign with the carburetor -or-

2) Install a regulator to prevent carburetor flooding and possibly an opportunity to enlarge fuel tank.

I selected the 2nd one first because I really didn't want to start carving on my airplane just yet and I had a Cline Regulator available from my crashed Cap/Moki 180. I don't need to go any further. The Cline Regulator solved my problem and I had 2 fantastic flights last night. Give me a few more flights to get in tune with this airplane and I'll start throwing it around the sky -- already my favorite airplane.

I eyeballed every thing when I set up the controls. The only trim needed for level flight was 3 clicks on the airlons.

Great news, Jim!! Though greatly overpriced (dollarwise), the Cline has made a believer out of me. I guess if a product is GOOD, then it's worth paying a little more than you'd like for it.

I hope it continues to work well for you. Happy 3Ding!

ZG77_OzZ,
You might try one of the soft mounts from Gator RC.
