Your push rod looks a bit messy, surely you can do better than that!
I don't know how long carbon push rods last, but everything will wear out. I have only recently started using them myself.
Still I would replace mine if they looked like that...

damn that really is ugly.... i'd be ashamed to have that on a model!
These are what you want. Phone Pete Tindal and ask for a carbon pushrod set.
These are what's on my funtana....
The one you have certianly aint up to the job for a flip.

I just cut my CF tube about 1 Inch shrter on each end and put epoxy on the rod (1" from each end) and slide the tube over it... rotate it to get the epoxy distributed and let dry...
No need to cap the ends of the tube if the rod goes all the way thru...

edible...
dont listen to the criticism too much..
sure they look a bit ragged but your biggest problem
is not how they look or the amount of cotton thread you have used....(seems a lot !)
Your problem here is that you have wasted your time with CF tube...
there is so much wire extending that the cf tube is almost a waste of time...
look at welsh 3Ds rods... there is no thinnner part than the tube... solid...
if you want to use 2mm wire out the end this is okay but it needs to be literally just as much as you need and for as little amount as possible to be threaded and exposed....
Make the carbon tube the full length you need, and have less than 6mm of the 2mm rod showing before the clevice.... even better substitute the 2mm rod and clevis for 3mm stud and 3mm clevis instead....
Otherwise you pay the money and go Welsh 3D's route or similar !

ARe we still on for the 3D fly in North Wales ? I will be bringing a Diablotin 2000 to flog (artf price now 485-selling 150 !) I dont have a decent model to fly at the moment, can i fly a limbo? Does anyone have a decent model/engine ready to go for sale near club?. Buy fri night fly sat, I'm open to any size as long as it fits in my medium size car. :Looking forward to meeting some like minded people and wathching some proper flying! yes there is life aftwer the stall (if you can juggle elevator, throttle, rudder and ailerons all at the same time). Sorry can't resist it had even more trouble at the field on sun, long storey but you know the cause and you know the routine. Will there be any music ? ifb so could i have Golden Brown by the Stranglers follwed by Liberty x sexy. Bit of a mixture i know but if you can't dazzle em wif brilliance baffle em wif comfoundment, well it works for Tony blair!

I have just got a set of Pete Tindalls carbon push rods. Pete recons you just cyano the aluminium ends onto the carbon rod. Does anyone bother drilling through and bolting them as well for extra security or isnt it necessary ?

Ultimate: They dont need thingyin but i do it anyway.
Best way is to spray activator in the metal, then cover the carbon in CA...... push it in and activate all the excess which squeezes out. When its gone off in a few seconds, peel the excess off the carbon and they'll look as tidy as mine.
Kunte: Yeah the 3d is on. let me know if you need directions. A friend has a flip for sale but I don't know if he's selling it complete. Let me know if you want me to ask him to bring it on saturday.
I'll be selling my H9 Edge airframe. Might buy your diablotin if the edge goes.
Your limbo is fine... something tells me there'll be a few there!

WELSH3D, how much is the flip, + Edge, interesed in both, might swap for Diablotin. Ali rates these very high, i personally reckon it's more a freestyle model than a 3D model. Before this starts a major reaction, what i mean by 3D is prop hanging manourves, that said it still prophangs, torque rolls ok. Will the os fx160 fit in the edge ? Will there be music, i have a generater but i'm worried i wont get everything back in the car! Can you do a torque roll circle???

Hi. Not sure about the flip but i was looking for around £230 for the Edge. (ONO) But would consider a straight swap. What size is the diablotin? a 1.60 should fit straight into the Edge, that's what I had in it, only MVVS. It has a modified tail to take two elevator servos. 3004s would be fine on ail and ele so nothing expensive really. It's in fairly good condition... just a piece of red trim missing off the fuz... nothing much and if i find the covering i'll put it back on!
Can I do a torque roll circle?? Well I've never tried because it doesn't really appeal to me, but i guess I could... the funtana especially is very controllable in the torque roll.
Look forward to seeing you.

I can't do a torque roll circle either, at least i'm not going to say i can as first it would but pressure on myself and secondly seem a big headed twat, i have never heard or seen one done (ever). I wounder how the plane could be controlled to that extent so the torque pulling the plane round is also used/balanced/counteracted to move in a very acurate direction ? I would love to see a very big plane do this. I'm saddened Phill isn't going to Wales 3D, thats one of the reasons i was going, honestly i saw ALI at wings +,wheels (sun) and Phill at Teeside show, i think Phill was as good, ok ALI was under tons more pressue with thousands watching not hundreds, his trade stand there e.t.c .But Phill + Paul had serious hang overs (you should have seen the bloodshot eyes) i would't have flown a kite in thier condition. Paul is also very talented but it's like everything else when you go head to head, I.E. Rubeons Barricello. Say no more. I hope you lot come to Teesside show next year there is a rumor the Saturday will be a 3D show only !!!!! This will be a first, it's about time the shows moved with the times. We know not many people can fly 3D but theres no mistake MOST people like to watch 3D. BO SELECTA

Kunte: If my Funtana is back in action .... which will give me tomorrow to fit the engine, then i'll be doin some solo displays with that, its nice to watch, and being almost the same size as a 30% CAP, but about 6-8lbs lighter, it looks absolutely effortless! Mad plane! I think there'll still be soem big models there, and hopefully some fiberclassics. I know there are two 3W extras booked... just hope they remember to come lol
Incidently: Did anyone find the wings 'n' wheels show almost rubbish? Certainly wasnt worth my 5 hour drive! Glad all me camping was free too lol rippoff prices.
I thought the Eastnor show was quite enjoyable too..... aswell as having 3 slots... probably more flying than i'd do at the field!
If this 3d fly-in goes well I may organise another one later in the year, but definately next year. Should be a good day if the weather stays nice. Directions are available at www.delynmfc.co.uk/kettle.htm .

Hi guys
Sorry for time to reply. RC universe merging and then I when around my mates cos it’s the end of the school year…………… WOHOOOOOOO More flying!
I know the rods are crappy. But I’m a skint teenager with a wallet the size of a cox engine (I like that saying! But it is the truth). I can’t afford posh push rods! The rods were cut from my old cougar (second hand, kit version), drilled, then rodded and bound with miles of cotton and thin cyno (most went on my hands, locked solid, burning like hell LOL!)
The reason for all this cotton is ‘cos I didn’t know how much is needed. This is my first time using CF, apart form some tows, I will try and buy the Pete tindal rods soon.
Shame I can’t scrounge of my parents , still, I could always get a Saturday job…………………….well………………….na I want to fly on Saturdays
Do you recon I should put the old rods back, forget the cosmetics, I need to know about strength!
Archie. Does island hobbies sell carbon rods to fit out a flip for under 18 quid?
Torque’n. What’s an avatar
Thanks all
Ian
Also can you lot answer my question, not rabbit on about pretty they are.

Try this, Buy a length of carbon rod (5.5mm), the inner diameter is approx m3.
Slide a m3 wire pull/ pull adapter in it and cyano that in place.
Cheap as chips.

That depends on where you are using them. I imagine you would have more sheer forces on a ball joint supported on one side only.
Have'nt heard of many probs with M3 clevises.
Keep it simple......
