That is a good question! You should get G3 then you could be part of the online asylum he he.
What do you do online? I like to 3D and practice IMAC not race. Not sure I understand what you do with others in G3 online.

I 3d and just have a good time it has its own chat window. You can do what ever you like online including pylon race it is cool!

RE: 3D simulators?

i HAVE flown all 3 sims and can EASILY say that AFPD blows the other 3 out of the water. I think there should be another choice to the poll: I bought G3, and flew AFPD later and am DEEPLY regreting wasting my money on G3.

All you guys trying to convince people that G3 is better then AFPD for 3D is insane. I guess you guys are just trying to convince yourselves that the $200 you wasted on G3 was worth spending. But look at the votes 44 to 15. G3 isn't a close 10th for best 3D simulator. It may be ok with helis and flying circles, but that's just about it. Let's not even talk about the $29 you have to spend for every 15 airplanes when they are all free for AFPD and always have been. I personally have 497 aircraft for AFPD, and list is getting longer and longer. All those "fancy features" that G3 has eats away at the potential for the physics engine. for AFPD, it's Physics First! I would personally have a simulator that flies more realistically and has the same charateristics as real planes, then fly around and watch a moving wind sock or know that i can fly 5000 miles away when in reality you cant even see an R/C airplane more then about 2 miles away. Clouds moving? big deal, when im tork rolling, im not really looking up to see if the clouds are moving. Sims were made to help people fly better, not help them be weathermen or sight see'ers haha:):D:):D

some things are just soo funny, but ill get off my little soap box thing, if im even on one,

AFPD ROOLS!

Scott
i dont want a hit of that pipe your smoking it will make you get skinny and steal stuff to get more.. i have both and none of my panes fly perfectly straight like flying on the moon and none of them are filled with helium so i fly G3

Just voted! I've flown G3 and AFP and AFPD. In my opinion the original, non-Deluxe version of AFP even beats G3.

However, I do like the online playing feature. My brothers and I would get into that!

Have ya'll flown G3 and AFPD?
I haven't been as thrilled with G3 as I thought I would be. I think that G3 is to easy, but I was told on this thread that it was WAY harder than AFPD. Oh well. At least I can practice a routine with it.:D
well then you would HATE AFP if you thing G3 is too easy. i can hover with one hand on the transmitter on AFP

you do the same thing you do at the field.. fly with other people. and you can learn a few things watching others. also you can look at their transmitter in real time to see how they are doing it. also you can tell if they have their plane set up like a helium ballon to make theirself look good but the stick view gives it away if they are doing that.. gives me a few laughs

That would be fun. How many people at once?

How is it that you can reach both sticks with one hand in AFPD and not in G3?

up to 8

dont need but 1 stick, the left once its pointed up the throttle will keep it straight. try it sometime..

EXTRA ADDICT 06-22-2005 09:38 PM

RE: 3D simulators?

The amount of people at once depends on who is hosting the action and that is usually dictated by their internet connection and your video card all those planes flying around and hovering right in front of you can really drop your FPS rate.

Scott, I have AFPD and really think it is great. I like to turn the sim speed up and add weight to the plane to get it to fly like my smaller planes. Which one(s) are your favorite(s) to practice 3D with? Can it be downloaded or have you modded it to your liking. Mine is the black extra with the thwows cranked up and weight added. I turn the sim speed up as fast as I can handle. [8D]

i use the Redbull Yak 54 from Doc Insane that i modded to my liking, and alot of the Extra 330S that i modded too, it dont really fly that real, but i use it when im bored and wanna be able to do anything, the Yak is the closest thing to my Yak that ive flown.

also doing alot of the 4D with the slowride bipe and the monsoon and shockies

RE: 3D simulators?

I have tried all 3. I wasnt keen on g3 my LHS has it on and I spent some time on it. Uggghh I didnt like it. AFP And Reflex are the best IMO. I owned AFP for a year and a half and I sold it to get Reflex. I wanted a change. You cannot get any better graphics than Reflex hands down its like being at the field. To me that helps inhance your learning experience. Sun glare off the planes getting it lost in the sun shadows and all that. Now as for the physics Reflex is most definatly more touchy than AFP. The planes do not float there tendencies to snap in are there at low speeds. Constant control on the sticks is a must harriers just dont lock in like in AFP you need to work at them depending on what model you are flying. Not bashing AFP by anymeans its da bomb but Reflex has added a little somthing different sometimes good sometimes bad. And the heli portion of reflex is incredible. You need to see it to believe it by far the best.

RE: 3D simulators?

i MADE it fly unrealistic, if i want to make it fly just like the real thing i change 2 things, propwash and fuse weight, only 1 pound. i also have another extra (abut 20 all together) that would make you think you are flying a real extra

so if you want to take away good phyiscs to play online with your friends, is your friend going to pay for your plane when you crash it because you learned on a crappy simulator?

just curious:):D

I agree with mudsurfer it is the best. I just soloed bout a month ago and it has defiatly helped me. I couldn't see a difference in the trainer at the feild and the trainer on the simulator they both react the same to cross winds head winds and tail winds. AFPD is defiatly the best!!

I agree--these simulators make it much more fun when you get to the field.

How much time do you have on G3 and Reflex?

I have maybe 10 mins on G3 couldnt stand it after buy AFPD. G2 i cant even take off on. And I haven't got to try reflex yet but hope to soon.

RE: 3D simulators?

I think this thread is getting a little out of context. Mudsurfer you keep saying physics first! physics first! Then why would you take a plane and modify it to be more unrealistic! Insane minds would like to know. There will never be a perfect simulator. So defend the products you own that is fine but don't put down the products others own by calling it crap. By the way I know Drumbum and number one he has no problem paying for his own planes but if he needed I would be happy to pay for him to get a new plane. He has been flying for better than 20 years and one heck of a pilot! So he doesn't need a sim to teach him anything it is simply a tool to practice with.

Mudsurfer1234 06-23-2005 11:47 AM

RE: 3D simulators?

i have about a half hour on G3, and about the same on Reflex, have tried planes and heli's on each sim. hate em lol except the heli's on reflex are good

i no Iceyflyer has never flown Reflex and flew G3 for like 5 minutes

drumbum 06-23-2005 02:59 PM

RE: 3D simulators?

half an hour isnt long enough to get used to having to REALLY fly the plane.. maybee thats what you dont like. the part where you really have to fly it.. I hated G3 when i got it too but now you couldnt give me a $1000 for ( maybee you could i would just buy it again and pocket the rest) the planes in G3 fly WAAAY closer to the real world planes i have than AFP. actually they are a little more snappy.. which is good because it gives you practice.. to me my flying has improved 100% WITH G3 because it is so close to the real thing.I dont have to RE get used to my real plane the first few minutes of flying it as i did with AFP.. If you havent flown it more than 10 min you are NO WAY an AUTHORITY on the PHYSICS and cannot make a judgment on something you know nothing about...

AS for learning ANY SIM IS a good tool for teaching.. EVEN the free ones. because learning to fly you need to get used to the stick movements and what they do. the physics comes last there. Ive have witnessed more than one person that leaned to fly on G2 and FMS maiden in less than a week with the real plane

joeb102072 06-23-2005 03:06 PM

RE: 3D simulators?

I am of the same opionion only with Reflex. I was a bit suprised to see how snappy the planes are in Reflex however it wasnt to the point where it was unrealistic it had an effect on my trainning that I enjoy. As Drum put it I didnt like it at first but now I am getting to like it more and more. The planes dont float to the ground they have to be flown in, the sweet spot in a hover is not as big as the planes on AFP. While I do like AFP and it has helped me 10 fold at the field I think that Reflex is going to give me that extra edge. My only real issue is I wish there were more available planes.

STG 06-23-2005 04:29 PM

RE: 3D simulators?

I do agree that most of the the 40% 3D planes in AFPD are too easy to fly as they are stock. But take the right plane add weight and turn the sim speed up and planes get plenty snappy and there is no way you are going to hover them with 1 stick. I really would like to try the other 2 sims though. How many expansion packs do you have to buy with G3 to get some good flying planes?
