Here are some pictures of my unfinished showtime with an OS 1.08 in it. Everything cowled in pretty well and muffler installation worked out nice.

I JUST WISH WHEN THEY DESIGNED THIS PLANE THAT THEY WOULD GIVE A MORE ACCURATE ENGINE REC THE SAITO 100 IS A STEAMING PILE IN THIS PLANE I NOW HAVE TO YANK IT OUT AND PUT IT IN A FUNTANA 40.THE GUY THAT DESIGNED THIS PLANE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A BIG TIME RC SUPERSTAR I FEEL LIKE A STUPID CHUMP FOR GOING WITH WANT THE BOOK SAID.

What muffler & prop do you have on that 1.08? What is your 1.08 turning that prop?

There was a Showtime in the LHS today...it was temping...think I will fly the f90 a little more aggressive...:D

WHEN I TRIED TO HOVER IT I WAS LOSEING VERTICAL AND ALMOST CRASHED! I JUST WISH MR. SUPERSTAR WOULD JUST GIVE US THE CORRECT IMFORATION TO PROPERLY SET THIS PLANE UPOR STICK TO FLYING INSTEAD OF DESIGNING (I MEAN DO WHAT YOU DO BEST).I THINK YOU WOULD NEED ROCKET FUEL TO EVEN GET A GOOD HOVER OUT OF A SAITO 100 IN THIS PLANE .I,M GOING TO START BUILDING A FUNTANA 40 TOMMORROW I KNOW I'LL GET UNLIMITED WITH IT.ALSO IF YOU TRY TO PUT A BIGGER ENGINE IN IT THE ENGINE WILL STICK OUT OF THE COWL TO FAR I TRIED TO TRADE MY WIFE FOR A YS 110 SO FAR NO TAKERS

Howdy all...

Just got mine Saturday...
I was thinking of the O.S. 1.08 I have just sittin' in the box waiting for a home...
Also thinking of a Perry VP-30 pump and maybe putting the tank back a ways?

Anybody know about how much flight time the stock 17 oz. tank will give me w/ a 1.08?

tirascal...I'd be very interested in hearing of your flight test results! (oh, and is that a Bisson muff?)

Thanks...Tom

proptop,

I have a VP30 & O.S. 108 on my 10 pound F90 with tank over C.G. I will pit it against any SA150 for spool up with a 16 x6 prop. I have a 13oz Haynes tank and I can fly for 10 min. The mileage is about 1oz min if I do a lot of full throttle verticals and .7oz min if I am just hovering and flying IMAC & harrier around. Power is identical to my YS110, but it weighs 1/2 pound more with muffler & pump, but runs on much cheaper fuel. YS is a bit faster on spool--but not much. If you are interested in hearing it, email me & I will send a the wave file of it spooling.

If you put a VP30 pump on it, you will most likely have to run a bypass line. See here.....

tlrascal,

What muffler are you running on that 1.08 and where did you get it? Thanks.

i got to fly one of these planes yesterday. it has a ys120 for power, and does this thing like to knife edge. as far as 3d goes i prefer my f90. but as for everything else this plane does it great. it will wall and do elevators and torque rolls harrier has lots of wing rock.

I picked up one of these at the hobby shop today. Just couldn't resist, I guess. I have no idea as to when I'll get around to building it. There are so many planes on the building table right now. Then too, there is the question of engine selection. Not a lot of talk on here about how the plane is ballancing with the various engines. Battery placement, rudder servo, etc. Oh well, on the pile with a few others I guess. When the videos start going up that may motivate me a little more.

I posted earlier regarding using an OS.91 FS or an OS 1.20FS ( Four-Strokes )....I have a new .91FS that isnt doing anything, or I can trade it in for an OS 1.20FS....Not sure for my moderate flying skills ( not a lot of 3D either ) that I need the 1.20 )
Anyone?

Thanks for the info GP...good stuff there :D

I remember reading your engine/pump thread a few months ago...

I will definitely keep the Y-bypass in mind when I get to plumbing mine...

:)What planes spark your interest that you are building them before your Showtime? This thing looks so cool I don't know how you can resist. I'm just finishing a Yak, pretty neat in it's own right, and then I'm gonna jump right on my Showtime. Hope to have it done by Christmas.
Thanks
Barry

I'm starting mine and am thinking about Robart hinge points. Have any of you guys used the on the Showtime? I'm starting mine tonight. YS 1.20 645's 6v you know the drill.

RE: Showtime

Mine with the Saito 1.00 came out to 8lbs 12oz empty. using all hitech metal geared servos mounted in the tail the c/g came out approx 3/4 inch behind the recommended c/g. This is with the tank mounted back against the wing tube and a 1500ma/6volt nimh battery in front of the tank. It flies fine with no bad or ill tendencies like this. I did add 4 oz of lead in front of the tank and it flies a little crisper for me. i am going to take the weight back out and move the rudder servo to the inside of the fuse and use the pull-pull cables. I have a some minor wing rock in a harrier but the application of some up spoileron takes it almost all of it away. This is w/o the SFG's. The addition of the SFG's and some up spoileron makes the harriers very stable. just be sure to be ahead of the throttle doing elevators/harriers cause with power decreased it sinks pretty quick.

I can't see a Saito 100 having enough sack to pull out of a hover on a 8lb 12oz plane. Switch to Li-ions and some foam wheels. If I can find another YS110 I know I am going to get suckered into buying this plane too.

RE: Showtime

Barry, right now I have the Goldberg Sukhoi sitting on the table waiting for me to finish it. This plane is probably going to be next. That Sukhoi is just so daggone good looking though and the control surfaces on the tail are huge compared to the Stabilizers. I just know it is going to fly well.

A couple of weeks ago I had a midair with my Hanger 9 260 that broke a couple of wing ribs ( got off much luckier then the other guy, he totaled his 30% Extra) and I have been struggling to get it back in the air so the Sukhoi has had to sit. I got the Sukhoi back in May and had to wait on a new cowl & tail fairing (they were cracked when they came out of the box). It has been really buggin' me that it's not done yet so..........

I have a Saito 100 and a Saito 1.20 that could go on this plane so I am real curious as to how it balances/flies with the 100. I want to build it as light as possible and still get decent performance out of the plane. I agree with you though it is a very sharp looking machine, much better then the pictures I had seen in the mags. Thanks for the info Zonker, If I go with the 100 it will probably get a pull-pull rudder ( can't bring myself to add lead to a plane). I fly my Funtana 90 with a Saito 1.50 and it too was rated for a 100 but the Showtime is smaller & lighter so it just might do all right with a 100.

Not enough meat for the Robarts went with the CA hinges, check out your alignment on the rudder before applying the CA, I had to recut some slots to get it to line up properly. This is a quick build.:D:D:D:D

I feel what you are feeling DAK ... I got the H9 Extra 260 coming and after reading all this I am so tempted to get the Showtime! Does the plane fly 3D really nice? I am beginning to enjoy freestyle more than 3D, my Fliton Extra 330 is more fun than my F90, hence, the Showtime is most tempting too.

RE: Showtime

The H9 260 is an awesome plane. Get it. I guarantee you will like it.
As far as the Showtime, if you can't get this plane under 8lbs 5ozs forget about the Saito 100 for low hovering. My Funtana 90 was 7lbs 14 ozs and it had good pull out power.
