RE: Showtime
With mine you have to keep the nose up high, It is like that with mose planes, you cant just keep holding full back on the elevator, I learned this slowly but the higher the nose the less wing rock. too high and it starts to hover but it really is sweet in the harriers with the sfg's.
Now that I think back on it, it hovers just as good with the sfg's as it does without them! |
RE: Showtime
When I do the blender I strugle to get it in flat spin.I have the CG on the recomandation but fuel tank in the front. And the cg is 1/2inch forward with 1/2 tank of fuel.My UCD60 its easy to this maneuver.
Any with tips? |
RE: Showtime
Any plane can do a flat spin, it just depends on how flat it is.
Try this. Go way up high, then stall and start going down. On high rates roll as fast as it will go to the right. Then over the course of a second or two apply full down elevator and full left rudder. Now you have a flat spin it is that easy,(all this is at idle) it does not look pretty because you are spinning so fast but you will have a flat spin going. now just use less and less right aileron, mine likes the aileron stick in-between no right deflection and full deflection. That will make your flat spin flatten out, its all in the aileron and of course you can add a little throttle too. You can also reverse the rudder and aileron sticks and do it the other way its that easy. The more throttle you use the more aileron you will need to not break out of the flat spin...... Oh and when you get it doing a flat spin the best it is doing it and the nose is still pointed down some, the cg is too far forward. I don’t know where my cg is at but with the sfg’s the flat spins are unbelievable |

Today to took my Showtuime for a maidel flight with a brand new Saito 150. The engine has just over an hour of run time, but it will be a stump puller on that model :D
I have to say that this is the best built ARF i have ever owned. It flew great; i did not do much 3d yet as i am getting used to the model and breaking the engine in. A few things I would like to point out: It was a pain to install the engine and my friend welded muffler pipe so it fits right. I lost my tail wheel on the second flight. I will have to glue in a peace of ply fior it to stay on the plane. Two screws in balsa just do not do it... I also noticed tendency to roll out of a tight loops. Does anyone have same problem? |

Any with tips? The more planes I try (almost always more $ than the UCDs) the better I like the UCD. It is amazing. The Showtime is amazing too. And I love the precision aspect of it. But there is no way it will 3D with a UCD. I just have more fun with it. Thanks Barry |
RE: Showtime
maidened the Showtime on SPE26. More than enough power. With menz 16x8. I think about 7300+rpm, but already vertical at 2/3. Cruising at 1/2 and more than enough power. I would prefer slightly lower pitch speed and longer prop. Perhaps 17x8.

V,
Where did you find the saddle clamp for the crank vent line? Nice. Mac |

RE: Showtime
I got my Showtime last Tuesday and maidened it on Friday with the BCMA SPE 26cc gasser. It was very easy to put together and I was extremely impressed with the control linkage!! Holy cow, ball-joint links all around?!?! Who does that in a kit that costs under $200?!
Anyway, engine started up very easily, and after a few minor adjustments, I decided to continue the break-in in the air, (breaking-in a gasser is not so critical, just run it they say). Showtime flew great! Seriously, I braved the 15mph wind and had little trouble with it! This plane is great! Seriously unlimited performance! I've flown it a few times since the maiden and managed to break off the landing gear, which I recommend reinforcing bigtime. Also, the SFG's took a beating during that landing... |
RE: Showtime
Dont forget, with some mods, the UCD will harrier,walls,T/R,even rolling harriers,I had the best flights ever with a UCD, but I seemed to end up flying mainly when its "foamy weather". Its a plane that you either work with, or forget it.

RE: Showtime
Yeah, that is just a landing gear strap :D

RE: Showtime
This is so frustrating....my Showtime is at home on the bench, pretty much ready to fly. And its been that way since 2 weeks ago, right before I left on vacation, where I am now! You guys just keep adding how great the plane flies, and its killin me. :) I can't wait to get home this weekend and maiden mine! :D :)

RE: Showtime
Hey guys just finished my Showtime today and wondering how you guys balance the C.G. of this airplane. Do I have to do it inverted or right side up? Thanks
|
RE: Showtime
Can some one show me some pics of your tail wheel section for this airplane.
|
RE: Showtime
I balanced mine inverted, measuring back from L.E. up against the fuse... The first time
I just lined it to the wing tip and balanced....Not Good... Way off!! But it made it home safe:) Have my tailwheel pic on page 66 Post #: 1649 |

cool thanks raideron

RE: Showtime
How about using an OS 160 FX for power???
|
RE: Showtime
It will fit with some heavy cutting of the cowl, but you won't need that much power. Remember, this is technically a .90 size airplane. I used a gas 1.6 because that seemed to be about the equivalent of putting a 1.20 2-stroke glow on there. I had to cut the heck out of the cowl, too.
I usually look at weight and what type of flying I'm going to be doing to determine which engine would work out the best. In this case, I wanted to go with gasoline, and I wanted about a 1.5:1 power to weight ratio for 3D flying. Based on what I have read about the BCMA 26cc, and considering this is about a 8-9 lb. plane, I think I chose correctly. |
RE: Showtime
First off, Had a great morning at the field with the S.T.... Think I need more rt.
thrust..... I was having so much fun, that it created my first scare on the S.T.... Well, I guess second... I remember just after the first takeoff when I had my 6v just in front of the tail servos saying.... " What the _ _ _ _ " Ohh yeah, and the landing..... So maybe third scare:D.... Too much fun = Not enough fuel[:@]..... And wouldn't you know, it would be the time that I choose to make a longer approach to the field.... But happy to report that she made it home, she landed about 5' short of the runway, but she did it with no problems, nice and smooth on the dirt...... Damit.... Land!! :D |

Hey Guys,
I have flown my ST for about 35 flights, flies Great! But, the last flight while hovering the Right Elevator Seperated[X(] just hanging on by the pushrod. Climbed out and did a normal landing, flew just fine. Upon closer inspection, i noticed that almost all of the Hinges had or almost cracked in half. which Hinges work well, Robart Hinge points OK? if so what size? need to get the bird up quick again, never had CA hinges fail before! |
RE: Showtime
I like to use Robarts and for this plane size, the 1/8" Robarts should work fine.

RE: Showtime
Hello everyone,
I have a slight problem with my Showtime. It has a tendency to wing rock in harriers, specially inverted. My CG is right on the spot. It also liked to snap out of tight loops for some reason. One of the elevator halfs is worped, but i have trimmed it out correctly. Do you think that what causes this? I noticed slight tendency of tip stalling also, but overall, i am very happy with the model. Any suggestions? |
RE: Showtime
Thanks 3D!
I will try those out. |
