Today is rainy here in ****co, but i need to fly and test my "new" UCD with .90 Super Tigre.....
Really it´s other plane,,,,,, better of course,,, a lot of power,,,,, it can do hover at half of power,,,, it´s really a very good change............................

in the picture i´m treating and fighting of doing hover while rains.

Barry thats a 1100ma 6v jr extra, and the tank is a 10oz- 8oz, got me so far?;) and i changed my cg from 5.25 to 5 9/16 and added a little more movement to my ele and rud(not much but a little)and it spins on axis now (realll pretty!!!!) and you guys would have puckered(like me) on my 1ft 11in slow inverted pass:D
and your a good man for helping the kid,what about the elderly?

Barry, i measured and its just about 1/4 in higher(hard to measure without removing engine) but what you want to do is make sure you get the bottom of the case as high as possible so the cowl will still clear it(or just touch it)

:)gjeffers, Got it. Man, I'm building a brand new plane and flying one that's just a couple of weeks old and all I can think about is my 5th UCD. These are fun planes.

Barry, also if you look close on the pic of the inside of the firewall you will notice that on the left side blind nuts instead of cutting out the reinforcement for the nuts to fit into i took needle nose and bent the edge of the blind nuts to fit the renforcement strips at the corners to preserve the strength of the firewall[&:]

Better late than neaver. a friend and i are building 2 .60 UCD with magnum91 4 stroks in them. when there finished there will be 4 60 UCDs at my field and when when were ready will put smock on them and try to fly in formation

Hey guys! Long time no talk! It's been a while hu? I was just wondering how everyone was and how the flying has been going.

I had a little boo-boo on my motor scooter about three weeks ago and got a broken collar bone. Now, I have some doctor bills to pay and need to sell my U-CAN. I figured I would give you guys first dibs on it since you guys helped me get it all together.

This plane was flown one time for about 2 minutes tops. I had to bring her in because I left my TX on, on the way to the feild and the batteries were low. She flew perfect and has never been in the air since. It's been sitting in the back room of my house for about 8 or 9 months now.

Specs: U-CAN-DO-3D-.46 airframe

Saito 72 four stroker....less than a gallon thru it.

Remote glo-plug mounted on top of the cowl

Aluminum spinner w/ 14-4 pro-zinger prop

Hitec servos all around....digital for rudder.....I'll get p/n's later

GWS micro servo for the throttle

Kevlar tail wires

JR-R600 RX

Outside on/off switch w/built in charge plug

JR Battery pack

One extra wing

I took my time on this plane and it has been built right. Took me over a month to build if I can remember correctly.

All you have to do is add fuel and your crystal and she be flyin'!

To bad you have to sell your UCD, But sometimes it goes that way:-(
in these times of our lifes.. Hopefully something will come up that
will allow you to keep the UCD/ stay in the hobby.....

:)gjeffers. 150 flights, WOW!!! I don't have that many collectively on the UCD and I've had 4. That is way cool. But on the positive side, I've flown 147 flights this year and I crashed 1 UCD46 and 1UCD60 (repaired) and had an on the ground incident with the Mayhem (repaired). Actually that's excellent for me.
Did you add any extra RH thrust with the 100? I'm assuming you need a little extra with the extra power

im glad you ask about the extra r thrust Barry, was thinking today(whew!!) and i might add another 2 deg because i have to add 5 clicks r rudder to hover straight with no effort, soooooo yu might need more but id try it first and then make the decision, i am going to add 1 washer and see how i like it, i think that should be about 1.5 deg if i remember right my 60 was 3 with 2 washers[&:]

Gary, congratulation for your knife spin,,, with others planes i can do but with UCD it´s impossible for me,, Can you tell me what configuration do you have?:D?:D???? (cg-elevators-ailerons-rudder).....
Now, with .90 i can do better knife flight maybe because the weight because i do at low velocity. With .46 it´s very difficult to do knife, when i do, it´s like a butterfly...(now i said that.....[&:]).

Sergio, i enter just like the flying cirkus vidieo,(stall nose up,full down ele,full left rudder and a good amout of engine, then work ailerons to balance stand on wing)

control throws i have now are:

elevator-- down 4in

rudder---- left 3.5in

flapperon on switch- 1.5in

In an earlier post you mentioned raising the motor above the thrust line. I am getting ready to mount my saito 100 and am wondering why you would raise the centerline position of the engine above the thrust line.

TSuppa, i mounted it about a 1/4 in above because after holding the engine on the mount to the firewall i thought that it would make it easier to do the cutouts on the cowl and it would also bring the carb closer to center of the tank and it worked out real well, in the pic you can see the difference in the line by the two little black marks and in the other how well the cowl lined up, any other posistion and the wowl would not line up so i did it. and it did not affect the way it flys.;)

Hey all, Kokamo. Sorry about your accident. I hope things work out for you. I'd hate to see you have quit and not be able to fly your UCD. You put so much time into it. But keep us posted and let us know how you are doing.

I thought I was going to get some good flying in today but just as I was loading up my new neighbor came over to talk. It was good to get to know each other though. He seems like a real neat guy. When I got to the field I only got two flights in and the wifey called and said I was needed back home........[>:]. These planes are sure amazing though........[8D]

Hey sctcrash.

I also have a 6exap radio. Your rite you can't turn off the mixing with a flip of a switch while flying. I am refering to mixing of the elevator and the flaperons. I didn't want that situation either. So I opted for another mixing setup. With the flaperons you have control of the flaperon position using the flap knob on the upper right of the transmitter. That is all well and good except I don't use it much myself because if you do the position of the flaperons becomes ambiguos unless you take your eyes off your plane to check the position of the flap knob. Not a good idea when the plane is in the air. But what I do use is the mix having the landing gear switch turn on and off the flaperon position. You can either set it up for the LG sw to raise the flaperons so you have spoilerons. Handy for harriers and landing situations. Or you can set the mix set in reverse so you can turn on and off the dropping of the flaperons to a down flap position. You make ch 5 (gear) as the master. Then set ch 6 as the slave. Then you can flip the gear switch on and off moving the flaperons to a preset mixed position. Flaperon mode must be previously set up for this to work. If your ucando is set up more tail heavy you don't need to have flaperon/elevator mixing as much as if it were nose heavy. This is the only short coming of the 6exa radio I can see. For a low priced radio it still isn't bad.

Have any of you heard about the stabilizer brakeing off the UCD ? [:o] Mine did at 5 flights. I was a little less than 1/2 thottle flying striaght and level and it broke off. [:o]

there have been a few, but most have no problems, i believe most problems have been tracked down to two reasons, either the stab had a defect that you didnt detect or when cutting the cover with an exacto there was a scribe made on the balsa and this weakens the stab.you may have but i recommend using a soldering iron to cut the covering.
i have over 150 flights on mine with no problems at all and i think most here havent had any recent problems

I haven't had any problems with mine and I haven't even gotten around to adding some tail wires yet. No problems though.........[8D] Did it total the plane?

:)I've never added any wires and the stab has never come off on mine, or my other one, or my other one, or my other one. I wrecked them in other ways but never had that problem. I think it's a sturdy airplane but if you hit it, it will crumble. One of the absolutely most fun planes I've ever flown. I've got number 5 coming and I'm gonna over power it.
