thanks guys! got in a 5 flight day and had a blast, got my knifes all dialed in for both directions(still have to practice the left to right);)
a lot of new dooers here every week now, no wonder were # 1, sure miss out on giving my help as much but just glad to be home and say Hi[8D] going out tomorrow again and Doooo it all over again:D Barry, thats the 45cc right? man that sure should be a great plane, i sure like my monster but it sure does fly in its own catagory, its not a slow flyer but it does awssome knifes, blenders, stall turns and anything with a stall great, and it is just exillerating to do a fast flyby, man what a feeling[8D] oh and Barry, i hope you didnt wear yourself out on the assembly time:D (12-14hrs, they always tell a fib on that[X(]) |

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
We all know that Barry is going to just be great capping it.... Go get emm Barry!!
Great day today with the Spad and S.T.... The S.T. gave me a scare, setup for a K.E. at about 15' at the start of the runway and she just headed downwards[&o]... Flipped her up right and upwards and tried again... Same result... Tried a rudder turn and nothing????[sm=confused.gif].... Landed and she just barely stopped before hitting the fence.... [:@].. Scraped my Rt. wing tip as she went tipsy turning towards it[:@] but all in all not to bad.... The screw on the Hs 5645 backed out... (First time) No, no lock-tite, but I have never used it on the servo screws, just checked and kept tight.. Still not using on the servos, I just have to remember at the start of the morning..... Thought I was going to get a F-90... But no... Our 1' low H.A.K.E specialist had a slight misshap on T.O.... He started slow rolling it just after lift off, but as he always does he kept the throttle low...( I mean low.. It always amazes me how his F90 stays in the air with such a "low" throttle... But today it bit him, It fell and he could not recover fast enough, it bellied-in ripping the gear out, and the pants going through the wings.. But not all that bad.... Sort of the same as the last time, but he just got the wing tip that time.. Anyway the guy that talked him into letting him fix it the last time, asked to fix it again, he said I think it's past that now, I'm just going to get the X-100 ready.. Anyway the guy started leaving, and the member calls me over to him, but then the other guy turns and says.... If you don't want me to fix it again and your going to trash it... I'll take it[:@]..... I think I lost my chance then[:'(] All in all Great Morning..... I'm missing the "Do" tho.... Still can't find the new belly pan and it's vibrating way too much, But I went through all again, and I just can't find nothing amiss[:@]..... So it's going out next time.... |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
I know this might have been discussed before, but in 214 pages its been kind of hard to find.
My UCD has a ST61 and I'm still in break in but my carb gets flodded with gas. How has everyone handle this problem. Lower your tank, any tipe of accessorie that works??? Thanks for the help...[&:] |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Hey, I finished my DO today! I do have a problem with the radio check. Im wondering if the extra long extensions and the servo reverser is causing some interference. After 25 feet I get sever servo chatter but still have control. After, 60 feet the servos just lock up. Im a little freaked out about flying. If any of you guys have had this problem let me know the fix. My ST G-90 seems almost perfect for the plane, I did notice that the spool up time is slow with that large 15 * 4W prop. Is that normal? The engine idled great though and minis the slow spool up it seems flawless. Looking forward to flying, however I might try a different RX before putting it up.
Later, Brad |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
I finally got my UCD to do a real nice inverted flat spin. Even got it to do a climbing flat spin which was just about the coolest thing I've ever seen:D:D:D
I can't believe after 3 seasons and 2 DO's, this plane still puts a grin on my face and is always the plane that I want to fly agian. |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Hi Brad, I don't exactly what's going on with the range check but don't fly the plane untill you've got it straightened out. Something bad is going on. Check to make sure there isn't any metal to metal anywhere. Check to make sure your RX is 72 Mhz. Try moving your ant. to different locations on the plane and see if that helps it.
About the ST engine spool up, I think that the 15x4W is probably too much for it. |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
BradSD.... As Rob said get it fix before flying, You should get atleast 80 to 100'
with no interference and that's with the engine on and off... Besides what Rob said, made sure there's no safety fence etc. that could be blocking your signal, also check it from the side of the ant wire, not the ends... That's a good idea to try another reciever. I have "intermittent" glitching problems on this "Do" when I run the ant. wire on the bottom of the fuse to the tail, and I'm still not sure what causes it, most likely my servo extensions, for what ever reason... But It always gave me a good ground check, so until I do, my "Do' gets it's ant. wire taped to the wing...... So I think your problem is a RX or radio problem, if you have no medal to medal contact on the plane/engine.... JMO... But I know nothinggggggg:D But............ don't fly before you find the problem.... It bums you out, but it's better than dive bombing the plane[8D] rtn9105...... That's Great!!!!!.... The "Do's" are fun planes........... |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
torombolo... Besides lower the tank or raising the engine, there are few options...
I think the only other is to use a fuel regulator... many post say they work... Does the engine run alright after you get it started and adjusted??? If so, You can "lightly" close the H.S. needle while fueling and only open just before you start, I use to do that on the 1st "Do' with my Saito 100 and I now do the same on "Do" # 2 with the S-82 because of my fuel line setup... |

:)Flew some yesterday. Great day. Had a lot of fun. I rarely get pictures of my airplane because I'm usually alone or have no camera. But my friend Ron, not to be confused with Raideron, or my left handed friend, but my regular friend Ron...took a couple of pics of my Velox.
Hover and high alpha, slow KE pass. Thanks Barry |

:)Here's a couple of Ron...
Doing his gjeffers inverted low pass impression. In Idaho we do it a bit different. We were flying right down a sprinkler pipeline. We were seeing how low we could go and how wet we could get our planes as they got sprayed. It's amazing the sound you hear when you get a 60PSI nozzle spraying your plane in a low inverted pass. If you look close you can see the Funtana getting it from two nozzles. Pretty cool. This is not my regular field, but had a good time anyways. Thanks Barry |

:)Here's my CAP. Ready to fly...but as of yet unflown. Just didn't get it done in time. Weighs 13lbs 5ozs. I have the EVO 45 on it. It was a fun plane to build. Hopefully it will be fun to fly to.
I won't be doing the inverted, low, pipeline pass on the maiden flights. That'll have to wait until later. Thanks Barry |

I'm going to see if he wants to fly the Do. |

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Hey Barry... Great pics!!! Is that your Maxair... Where does she rate from your
hangar of planes??.. Man I really like the idea of going through the plane wash before landing, I can see the point of going in inverted, most the oils there huh;) Then just a high speed run, land and she's ready for home.. That's thinking guys I like that!!! Looks like the two of you and a great day!! Nice Cap..... Man, from the pic.... How much does that EVO weigh, The gear looks like it's giving some...:D... "cough..cough".. Is that a spinner on te nose[X(] Rob, Sounds good... Ask Kyle if he can tell me how to remove the fear of doing the H.A. "Low" rolling circles on the ground, wait a minite I can do them on the ground I just have to lift the plane a bit higher to clear the wings as I'm turning it....[8D].. Ahhh heck, just a "High.. TRUE" rolling circle would be nice[>:] |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
raideron:
I't idles somewhat decent, It only has one tank truogh it. |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
:)raideron...
Yes, that's the Maxair Velox RII. I really do like the plane. It's fun to fly. It's best feature is it's KE ability. Does KE in either direction with zero coupling. Just try it on it's side and add a little rudder. So easy. The more I fly it the better I like it. I would rate the Velox # 3 in in my hanger. UCD60 is #1, UCD46 is # 2 and then the Velox. We'll see if the Cap bumps any of those out of order. The "plane wash" is a lot of fun. I couldn't believe how fun it was to fly down the pipeline. We were both doing it and we got pretty low too. It was a great day. Good friends, good weather, and good airplanes. That equals "GREAT FUN". It certainly was a day to remember to me. The EVO 45 weighs 52 ozs with the ignition. Muffler adds 8ozs. Not too bad really. My OS160FX with muffler weighs 43 ozs for comparison, so the glow engines are still quite a bit lighter. And no...the landing gear is not squashed. The gear sweeps back like that. But, I must say, after looking at the pictures it does look kinda squashed. Yes, that is a spinner on the nose of the engine. It came with the kit. But it is growing on me. Rclement... I'd be very careful letting Kyle fly your UCD. Once he flys those planes he'll never go back to what he flys now. I can only imagine what his video would look like with a UCD. I'd love to see that. I tried at noon to start the CAP. Wouldn't start. Don't know what's wrong. Seemed like it wasn't getting fuel. I'll work more on it tonight. Thanks Barry |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
torombolo... IMO.. If it idles ok while your breaking it it, I would think it would be
OK in the air.. You know with the tank a bit higher, you could lean (low end) it a "bit" even in your break in period, But if it runs ok.. I'd adjust it slightly before you put her up.. If it floods while fueling or sitting try closing the main needle "not tight, but close, and open when your ready to fly... It seems like your tank height situation is livable if it'll stay running on the bench.... Good Luck!! |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Barry... #3... sounds like a keeper!!
So the 110 moved the 60 ahead of the 46?? Did the 110 just slip in the nose with no mods and all the stock equip.?? Well, the "Do" Spad and my trainer Avistar are on the charger for the AM... Hope the "Do" stays together... Still have not found my vib source or my belly pan, But I did put a wood prop on:D... Had to try my SPAD.. Made some small changes in hopes of the slightest speed increase:D.. "Those" faster members are getting within 3-7mph of catching me[8D] And I need to run my OS 46fx so my Avistar is going too... The S.T. is waiting for a Sullivan Tailwheel Bracket/wheel. My springs are getting "to" stretched leaving the wheel with about 1"+ of play, makes for a lot of rudder use while taxing, but no problem on roll out and landings... |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
:)raideron...
Yeah...the 60 is my favorite. The mighty 110 just makes so much difference. It's a bigger plane and I almost always have to fly in some wind. The 60 just handles it better. With the mighty 110 power is truely unlimited. Waterfalls are super tight and hovers are easy with excellent pull out. Rolling circles are easy with this plane. Much easier than my Velox which is surprising. I wish KE was better on the UCD but that's why I have the Velox. The 110 is a "drop in fit" in place of the Saito 100. No mods at all, except to the cowl to accomodate the muffler. It has to be cut different. But I didn't even change the cowl. Just cut a new hole. THanks Barry |
RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
Thanks Barry for the info.... I have been thinking about the 60...Or something.. But I
have to figure out how to pay for it... Well great Morning, Only one shorter flt. on the "Do", It's still vibrating quite a bit[:@] Well more checks... Maybe covering removal[:o].. My spad did good, I think just maybe I gained a little bit of speed, No one to compare it too, nobody had theirs, I asked why they said I was cheating and mine was to fast:) Yada Yada.... The OS 46fx ran great on my Avistar, couldn't fly it tho, Took me a bunch of trys before I figured I needed my other radio which was at home:( Watched a member fly his Funtana X50/OS 46fx.... It flies pretty good... Man those SFG's are really low to the ground, just the wing rock while taxing made it scrape...... He asked if I wanted to try it.... I said yeah right... I can see me putting it in... He flies mode 1...... |
