Hi Mark. Thanks for the post. As it turns out the 22x10 is a regular Zinger, not a Pro style. The Pro I have is a 24x8, not good for brea-in. If you have a 22x10 regular Zinger laying around I'd appreciate you checking it if possible.

Hello Everyone !! Just wondering how the rest of you Python owners did this past flying season ? !! I did quite well I think. I only hit the trees once at our field & broke out the leading edges in 4 places on just my bottom wing. Was down for almost 3 days with that. Pretty easy fix. Put smoke in it around July . That was just awesome, loosing it momentarily in a tailslide once !! Anyway I now have 114 flights on it with the Da-50, switched to synthetic oil around 80 flights. Very happy with this setup !![sm=teeth_smile.gif]
Hope everyone else got a lot of good flying in too !!
Thanks, John

I have been doing great with mine. I have about 60 flights on it with no incidents. The dowels in the front of the wing have broke loose twice and the flying wires on the tail keep stretching. I am going to change the wires on the tail to a heavier grade over the winter and it should solve the stretching. It is a joy to fly and is a favorite at the field when I take her out. I have had it shot with a radar gun with a Xoar 22X10 carbon fiber at 95mph.

Hi guys,

I've got mine all parted out on a spreadsheet with prices and sources for some of the accessories. That said, Aerowrks has much of the stuff I need. I am getting ready to order all the goodies for a winter project. I travel a lot for work and it will take a while to get it together.

Super08 - are you using the DA50-R? What muffler did you go with? I am hearing the Slimline is a good fit for this plane.

Super08, so glad to hear you had a great season too !! I have people ask me all the time what the top speed on it is & that is helpful with you mentioning you had your speed checked with a radar gun !! Mine was also a big hit wherever I took it, even the event in Hamburg N.Y. at the Flying Knights event in August. Plus there were 2 Somenzini Pythons there that were really just awesome. I'm sort of looking at The new BEAST when it comes out in April now!! I also just love how our planes land & I like to say it lands almost like a nice trainer !!
Thanks again !!

I have a MT57 in mine with the slimeline muffler. There are pics of it one page back, posts 280,287, and 291.

John, funny you mention the landings. This plane almost lands itself. Just set the throttle a little above idle and it comes down smooth as can be and plants itself on the ground once it touches. It is the the best landing plane I have, but my Yak comes in at a very close second. I have two guys that bug me every chance they get about trying to get me to sell it.

Thanks for the reply. I researched this plane extensively a while back. I need 2 things when I buy RC stuff; quality products and great customer service. I'm hearing nothing but great stuff about both at Aeroworks.

Oh, now to talk about customer service, you won't believe what Aeroworks did for me !! I also dinged up my cowling & cabanes & landing gear when it hit the trees . I ordered those 3 parts from Mark at Aeroworks & the packager guy put I strutts in instead of the cabanes. Well, I told Mark I needed them for a fly-in that coming Sunday. This was on a Friday morning, so he had the new cabans sent to me with next day Fed-X !! I couldn't believe it !! Plus I would have sent the I strutts back but he also said keep them too !! Now that's really great customer service !!

Super08, I thought I was just a great lander when I first landed this plane !! Ha !! That reaffirms my thoughts on its landing capabilities. I guess that drag from the extra wing really helps !! I haven't found any bad flying characteristics with this plane yet . We have a tight field to put in at and this is just the ticket for me !!
Thanks again !!

I too have had a second to none experiance with Aeroworks customer service. The Python is a club favorite and a tie for me with my Aerowoks Yak. They both bring a smile to those watching them and to me flying them. Here are a few links to videos done using the Python. Enjoy.

That kind of customer service goes above and beyond ehat I would ever expect. When I started getting into giants with my first, a Extreme Flight 88" Yak, I did the same research and bought that plane and the DA50-R. I've needed help from both of these companies on occasion and they also have provided great help.

Nice videos BTW.

We are supposed to have 55 and sunny here in Columbus Sunday, so I'll take advantage of that and go fly something.

Can someone tell me the cowl width for this plane? I used to have one, sold it, thinking about getting another one, but the motor I have (Saito 450 radial) could be too large. I don't mind cutting the motor box down a few inches, but if the cowl is too small, there's no fix for that!

I just measured the width of the cowl & it looks to be at 9 &1/4 inches wide.
Hope this helps !!

What is the diameter of the engine?

The diameter of the motor is about 10 inches.... might look cool with the cylinder heads sticking out.

The motor is about 8 inches from the mount to the prop backplate. That wouldn't be too much of a problem to cut the box down.

I might have a bit of a weight (balance) problem too... The Saito weighs a good bit more, but it wouldn't need a battery, ignition module, etc..

Lots of decisions to make before I stuff 75cc in a 50cc plane!

It would sure fly nice though. That engine has more power than a 50cc gasser. I would hate to see the fuel bill.[X(]

I'm a little concerned about wing loading... we'll see.

Does anyone know if AW has discontinued the Stearman? I've read a few posts that say it has been discontinued, but I still see it listed on the left side of the AW page. That would really be a perfect fit for this motor, but if it's gone... it's gone!

Maybe it has but they still have some in stock. Probably have to phone and ask.

Aeroworks has discontinued the Stearman a while back. We have left it posted on the web site for those customers that still have one to refer to for questions.

We do plan on designing and manufacturing a New Stearman in the near future but it will be a highly improved design and part of the QB line.

Look for late summer

Thank You

Thanks, Rocco.

So, I may go with another Python as an interim step... do you think a 6 pound motor would create a wingloading nightmare?

It's about 3 pounds heavier than a DA50, but with no ignition module, battery, that difference would come down a little.

That should be fine. We have customers using the DA85 without issues

Thank You
