The consensus on another site was that it really is real. This trick can only be done with fully locked brakes and on calm water. If the wheels are locked and everything goes well, they act like little skis and they can skim the water. Thats what they said anyway.

The IA that helped me restore my Cub had done it.
He never mentioned anything about locking the brakes.

Fellows (and ladies if any)-
One of the problems with Photoshop is that when photos are real, nobody believes it these days. This is a real photo and what the pilots are doing is not all that hard. The airplane is simply using the hydroplane effect of water at high speeds and therefore the water acts as though it is hard as asphalt and the wheels do not break the plain of the surface. It is the same principle as barefoot skiing. The brakes do not have to be locked, they will hydroplane even when rolling, just like your car on a wet road. In Alaska and other places, pilots use the technique to land on short sandbars and such all the time. Here is a link to a great video that demonstrates it.

I don't know how to send videos on the net ,and I would realy like to send both of the vids that you posted to my grandfather as he was a fighter pilot ,and flew a majority of the first trips for the DEW Line up north and I know he as well as I would be greatly appreciative.
If you have time,as I know you probably have thing to do too

Outstanding stuff! The Texans on water is wild! No, I don't believe it's a Photoshop job either. I liked the last bit of footage of the Cub with the Tundra tires coming up in front of the camera. I was worried there for a second! I was close to getting a Lazy Bee and some big Trexlers and trying it on a pond, but wound up on another toot. It's clearly not the same, but using the J-3 on the Microsoft 2004 Sim I've put it's wheels on water several times. It seems you best have just the right power setting and the right touch on the stick, or it ain't gonna hydroplane. Fun though. I know several Ultralight pilots who played "follow the leader" over a river who got their wheels wet. Butts too! I didn't have the ba...er guts.

Speed = 9 X the square root of the tire pressure.
This will allow the tire to maintain the hydroplaning effect over the waters surface without breaking the plain. That is of course if it is not forced to break the plain with the wrong stick input. [:@]
