Not saying there can't be another explanation but speed is the kind of guy who digs in his heels and won't quit no matter what.

Watch from 7:15 to 7:47. If what he says is indeed true, it is very possible for one of these suits to be seen at 3,000 ft. PERIOD. END OF STORY.

As far as what the pilots saw? I have no idea, I wasn't there and neither was Speed, or anyone else here that is pulling wild speculations from their posteriors....

The guy was at 50' not 3,000'. Or am I missing something?

And why should that bother anyone? Why not just agree to disagree? I say no, you say yes. The sun still comes up, we both go to work, we both pay our bills. The fact that we disagree changes nothing.

At 3,000' a jetpack of either type would be a speck in the sky.

I've been wrong plenty in my life, and I will be wrong plenty more. Difference is, I have no problem admitting when I am proven wrong. This wouldn't have turned into multiple pages, had you simply accepted the facts that were presented and admitted your statements were false. Sorry, Speed, but you should really understand that when you point the finger at someone, there are three pointing back at you. Don't deflect and spin this onto Franklin and me.

How freaking pathetic is it that you resort to childish name-calling and threatening personal harm on a toy airplane forum, all for the sake of trying to be, "the man"? LOL

Once you starting attacking and threatening me is when this became personal. YOU did it, not me, quit pointing your damn finger at me! I've been a member in good standing here for 20 years, do you REALLY think I am here just to prove you wrong? LOL Self-important much? Get over yourself!

Right: "Hurt feelings report", antifa, BLM anarchists.

The JB11 suit claims the following:
flies at 22,000 FPM
Flies up to 15,000'
Flies for 10-15 minutes
weighs 65 KG

You saw the vertical take off and landing, not too hard to do the math on the other specs to prove that it most certainly COULD HAVE been seen at 3,000' feet by commercial airline pilots.

I was talking about people from the ground, i.e., the jetpack guy could have flown on and landed elsewhere without detection.

Do you agree to disagree with the flat-earthers?
These forums are here for all to learn. It is extremely difficult for me to agree with something that is simply not true.

I know you are, I was just clarifying my original, simple point that it is possible that a guy was at 3,000' with a jetpack. Others kept adding scenarios (parachutes, wingsuits, drones with dummies, etc, etc) as Speed dug his heels in. THAT is the REAL reason this continues......

Not according to the manufacturer.Empty Weight (lbs): 115

Max Thrust (lbs @ ISA)*: 530

Max speed (mph): > 120

Endurance (mins)**: 10

Fuel: Kerosene/diesel

Operating Ceiling (ft) 15,000

Piloted/Fully autonomous: Piloted

*Maximum thrust can vary depending on density altitude

**Endurance is dependent on pilot weight and density altitude

So yes, by definition this was totally possible. The question I have to ask though is "by who". Since, according to Jetpack Aviation, one can only rent one of these things under heavy supervision. But they are not for sale, so if it was one of theirs, who got their hands on it?

Guys, how about we put this subject to bed. We have come up with three ways the pilots could have seen someone at 3,000 feet that are plausible so that doesn't require any more debate. As for everything else, does it really matter any more? I personally don't think so and feel this has gone on long enough to more than ruffle many feathers that didn't need to be

Sure there is. Ever have a Hot Start/Hung Start/N2 Stagnation/No Lightoff on a turbine engine? Imagine on the jetpack being presented, if any of those start malfunctions occurred on 2 or more engines on one side?

Now granted, some average joe shmoe probably would think of that before trying such a foolhardy stunt. Which would then insure completion of such a disaster.

in 20 some odd years of model turbine operations, i have never experienced any of those problems with my equipment, as long as it was remembered to actually fuel up the tank/s.

Fair enough. I will admit that I have no experience really with model turbines. I'm basing that on 30 years of full-scale turbine operation.
