Funny, he's been in several times since I posted my rough draft and he never commented on it. I figured he'd say something about it, one way or the other. I wonder if it surprised him that I'm actually working on it. Then again, we haven't seen the "worm" either so, just maybe, are they waiting to see the results so they can gloat and say "I told you so"?

Doesn't Speed live in a part of Oregon being affected by the wildfires? If so he might be a little preoccupied.
And Hydro, your effort is appreciated. I've been working the same type of angle with my Senators and Reps. And I'll be doing the same with my new Congressmen when I finish my move (It's a stupid-busy month!) Additionally, to back up my letter, I'm working on an extensive web search for any and every story regarding sUAS issues, drone or traditional. My hope is to back up my letter with actual data to make our case (the incident at Wrigley is a perfect example, at least they caught the guy). It's the only chance we have at this point.

For real I hope he's safe and not near the fire , I feel sad for those who are in danger because of it . I also appreciate Hydro's effort , his statement is well written and gets to the point of traditional model airplanes and helicopters not being the problem that BLOS multirotor operations are .

Thanks for the thoughts guys, much appreciated. The largest fire area was a little over 20 miles away. A couple club members got evacuated. The smoke was really bad from Tuesday until the rain this morning. The air quality index hovered around 400 for most of that time. My wife and I have both experienced adverse affects from the smoke. That said my heart and prayers go out to those who lost their homes and lost loved ones. Feeling ill for the past week is small potatoes compared to what the fires have taken from others.

, Speed , no matter how we may disagree on certain topics , you ARE one of us , us dwindling few who are fascinated with flying machines , and yes indeed I'd be sad as Hell if you were hurt by those fires . Believe it or not , the smoke from those fires actually reached the east coast and for a few mornings we had really weird looking sunrises due to the smoke , so I'll bet it was brutal there .

Well, here we go again!
https://www.usatoday.com/story/trave...hs/3661680001/
I thought it might be fun to re-visit speedy's "expert" and ever-so-eloquent statements from round 1!
and then Speed goes on and on with his "facts" from his "wealth of experience" to "disprove" the possibility of this being a jetpack (as well as a little glad-handing and sucking up to Andy
);
And here is just a sampling of what speedy denigrates to when someone dare to challenge his "expert" opinions. Pretty classy!
Pretty strange world we live in when speed can post this trash and still herald himself as the righteous grand-poobah of everything toy airplane related as if he can do no wrong! LOL

Now for vertical take off and climb to 3,000' 1:1 is not going to cut it. 1:1.25 would be minimum. So add more engines, now up to 6 engines producing 300lbs of thrust at FULL THROTTLE. Oh wait, we haven't added fuel yet. How much fuel does a 50lb thrust turbine consume at full throttle? I can't find any specs but I would guess at 20oz per minute. Now that's 120oz per minute for all 6. But wait again we haven't figured in the weight of fuel or the amount of time it takes to get to 3,000' and back to the ground. That could easily be 15-20 gallons of fuel. Let's see now, how much does Kerosene weigh per gallon? Looks to be around 6.5lbs per gallon so add about 130lbs for fuel. There goes the power to weight ratio, oh well add more engines right? Oh wait, then we need more fuel..........Ok so that about eliminates the vertical take off and landing jet pack. That leaves us with the wing type that have to be launched from a manned aircraft in flight. Hmmmm wouldn't the FAA have a flight plan of the launching aircraft, especially in such a congested corridor?

The CEO even states that the flight is not possible without a parachute decent. But hey the RCU R/C wannabe's know more right? You two are a JOKE!

Good lord Hog no one has posted in this thread for over a month. In an attempt to revive animosity you take a shot at someone out of the blue. Talk about someone in desperate need of attention. You need to find a different hobby digging in your depends and drawing on the walls isn't keeping you occupied or is it the walls are full? LOL
Just so you know scatolia is not a recognized hobby no mater how much joy you might get from it.

Animosity? Not here. How is it you read animosity into my post, but can’t see it in speedy’s words? LOL.
I guess you didn’t follow the link before you posted. Not surprising.
There was just another jet suit sighting in LA airspace.

I suggest paying very close attention to the exact language out of HQ to describe membership trend. You will hear "numbers" from HQ, when we all understand that what really matters is membership REVENUE. And that trend is clear, and if anything accelerating. Yet we hear "spin" and obfuscation of information from the Budreau / Hanson cabal. When "spin" crosses the line, that's when organizations and individuals (like CFOs) expose themselves to big problems. Remember Enron?

Sorry you're wrong on several accounts.
There's a number of clubs that have completed SRM's and as they go on they are getting easier.
It has nothing to do with money or what you're flying, though clubs that host jets, IMAC and gliders are certainly more motivated towards getting their waivers.

Where might one get a list of all the clubs that have obtained approval for ceilings higher than 400'?
This question has been asked numerous times here, and you have replied to just about every one of them with extremely vague language. Based on your replies here, it would seem that you have a list (or at least access to one). Would it be possible for you to share that here?

Since permission to fly over 400' is one of the most pressing issues of the recent FAA actions , I think it's more than fair to want to know just how successful (or not) our lobbying agent , the AMA , has been in securing permission for clubs to fly over 400' .....

If they've been as successful as they say, their silence on details is deafening...
