OK, I give up. Normally it seems like every 5th post is complaining about how the AMA does not communicate. Open a thread on the subject... and where are they. Instead I find my friends, the jokers.

i think the idea of a video that lets us know exactly whats goin on is an excellent idea. now how would we get this? i am sure we will have to ask for it a hundred times and then ask if we can view it over the web, they will say something silly like "it doesn't exist in data format yet. then we could wait for them to send it........sounds like what we are doin now doesn't it?

don't get me wrong i thinks itsa good idea but i think they have us right where they want us and they are not goin to let us off the hook that easy. as long as most members send in their money just so they can get to fly at their favorite spot with the insurance, we are doomed to the status quo.

why sould they risk their easy job and fat paycheck with a bunch of facts!! ok so maybe they don't get fat paychecks but if there are 140,000 adult members and they pay 58 bux each......thats like 8 milliom bux a year!! somebody is gettin that money and it isn't the members!!

Geeze blue, I was gonna let you slide until the last paragraph. Not only do the members of the EC not get a fat paycheck, they get NO paycheck. They are elected, unpaid volunteers.

I have read quite a few campaign statements over a long period. If you look back in the MA archives you can find some. One of the mainstays of campaign statements is the promise of better communication. To this very day, EC members are looking for a way to get the information out. It is out there, it is just not getting to the members in a effective way.

Man, it's time you gotta' realize somethin'. IT AIN'T THEM AGAINST US. THEM IS US.

The Executive Director (ED), Joyce Hager is an AMA employee and is on the EC. The rest of the EC are volunteers, see the by laws. As to who else are employess, go here:

The ED is appointed by the EC.

Do not feel bad, this is the point of the thread. MOST members simply do not know much about the AMA. It is also what the forum is about, except during election time. Stick around, and don't be afraid to post your opinion or ask questions.

I'm sure there are huge sections of the economy where these benefits might be unheard of, but in my experience, they look pretty standard. The 7% matching is a bit generous, but 4 to 6% is not unusual.

is the ama a mainstream national company? it says on the webpage they are looking for MBA"S and among other things publications and marketing. they really need a communications person to help people who have questions that they want answers to. and a lil advertisement experience prolly wouldnt hurt either
