OK, this is about off-topic as I've ever been, but I started to get a little worried, since I'm one of those morons who occassionally sticks a glow plug heater in my pocket, plus those jewels are really important to me. So I did a little science. I took my freshly charged trusty ol' heater, and I tried to use a coin to short it out. No way, the terminal is way too deep. So I tried a pen knife, no way. OK, how about the point of a phillips screwdriver or an allen wrench? Not even a tiny spark. No way to start a fire with it.
Now, I'm not saying it didn't happen, in fact, I assume if Stalspin saw it, it probably did happen. I'm just saying there are a whole lot of things to worry about, and I don't think this is one of them!

in person, with yer own eyes, is the only way anything counts.
in reality, every flight box should have a extinguisher in it, cause i have also seen alchy fueled stuff burn.
edit, cause i pressed the wrong button, again<G>
i don't watch vidio of model avaition of any kind, the only thing more boreing that watching someone else fly, is watching a vido of other folks flying.
i am a participant in life, not a spectator.

it can happen-and it does happen. Don't ask how I know--but I did have a spare key set (and pants) in the car. Hot! Hot! Hot!

Do what I do-don't wear pants while flying. I'm not wearing pants now! And I periodically have a methane problem, but it usually passes!......BAN THE DANGEROUS CO2 FUEL! and SOME OF MY BEST FRIENDS ARE HOMO SAPIENS! only a few...JIM...PS And I really did burn my leg on a ni-starter (they weren't always the present design); it got my attention, and I still have a penny-size burn on my thigh!

I also recommend recommend tear-away britches if you're gonna put glow-starters in your pocket.
Or, better yet, empty the pockets into the ashtray before setting up.

Many years ago a friend of mine that did wedding photography was using a Honeywell "potato masher" strobe. Had four nicad cells in the head in a quickly replaceable cartridge with exposed connections. Only got about 40 shots on a charge.
Spare in front pants pocket.
Keys in front pants pocket.
Pants being removed during hasty retreat down the ilse.
No permanent damage except to his ego.

It is very important to have a sense of humor about things, even fire extinguishers and the reasons for them. In all seriousness though, lets face it, fuel is not the only flammable part of this grand hobby of ours. Fire extinguishers are better to have and not need; and IF you have one, make sure that it is full.
