I'll just post one that is fairly typical, and which I'm certain the other guy won't mind being posted.

when they have questions that require more detail... I start using e-mail. I keep my e-mail addy hid for one reason only... the stupid spammers and thier e-mail addy gathering systems.

Unlike some others... I don't hide behind some made up username. I don't hide behind some fake avitar pic. The pic is me and the username is my name. AND my e-mail address has the same username before the @.

Sure, anything you say, of course we all believe you, yeah sure we do.........

Fred,
I don't think anyone is questioning your knowledge of the hobby and your willingness to share that knowledge. As long as you bring up personal limitations why don't you step back a second and examine your social skills. That is a personal limitation that you can work on the same as your stick handleing. Look at all the people who are irritated with you in this and several other threads and ask yourself why this trend exists. Maybe everyone else isn't always wrong and there is a common denominator here, you lack of social skills.

I'm sure popularity among a bunch of anonymous posters is not a high priority for you. It's a small world though and our hobby's niche in it makes it smaller still. If you are flying in contests for example you will surely meet up with other people from the boards and it would be a lot more comfortable when you do if you were not known for being the brunt of many personal attacks.

Step back for a moment and evaluate what has transpired here the same as you would a poor practice session and see if you are happy with the result or wish to take a differant tack. I'm sure an apology isn't going to happen after the corner you've helped paint yourself into but learn from this and move on.

Hey Goob the issue with you is NOT that we don't know who you are but rather it is that we DO.

You can try to deflect but, as others here feel, if the hobby was made up of many more of your type the stench would be overwhelming.

Myself, I would rather not know who you are …matter of fact you are an embarrassment and I am ashamed for you.

YOU have the means to rectify…Why not be a man and just do it?

Hi ya'll,
My 2 cents> just now 5/4 noted this post and that the writers club lost their flying site.
You all should realize that to them and all others for that matter this is a pretty serious
situation not deserved of gossip.
TO ALL, should be known a proven way to secure and keep a site exsists as follows>
Know that government is to serve the people and that is true of the local area "Recreation
Director" be it state, county or city. It is the director's effort to provide recreation facilities.
including model aircraft sites. But the need must be shown to them for any action to happen
There is positive evidence of this beeing many times over.
Your district AMA vice president should be of help in this matter.
Good stuff?

Hi Ben

Your point is well taken.

Fred, it is obvious that you are an ardent AMA supporter. I honestly believe you can be an asset to this forum and the AMA.

Many folks come to this forum with complaints, either real or perceived, about the AMA. It’s my opinion that we should at least hear them out, solicit more information when appropriate, and then try to present facts to alter their position. Certainly, there will be those who no amount of reason, or facts, are going to dissuade from their opinion. On the other hand, it does little to blast them even before the facts are known. Give them a chance to state their case; be concise and accurate in the information you dispense.

If this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black, I will not argue the point. Please give these thoughts consideration when you post

Anyway,

About the site, this seems like the second thread I've seen where a club lost flying rights to a private field. It is the risk you take when using private property. Our club is informed that when the owner of the property we fly on passes away, the son will eveict us because he wants the land to feed cattle on. Thats his right as a land owner. With as many members as you have, I hope you can pool your resources and find a better site. Good luck!

Scott,
Your flying site probably does not really need direct access and control of more than about 20 or 25 acres, but you do need a lot more then that for over fly and recovery. That is the portion that his grazing cattle should not bother your operations, you just have to present it to him properly. At the same time, do a little research on agricultural trusts as funded by the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT and you may be able to provide the son with an additional way to help himself AND you at the same time.

HAHAHAHAHA! Sorry Ben, but I guess Marc didn't tell you that those rules don't apply to the AMA forum. Insults, name calling, and abuse are the NORM here!

I wouldn't be surprised if the forum nazis that control the discussion on this forum don't flame you the heck out of here!

Kudos to Fred Huber for standing up to them! The rest of us cower and lurk lest they turn their flame throwers on us!

My beef with the original post...

No details. Just a whine about the field being lost and complaint that the AMA has to be at fault. Says the reasons are "Chicken @#$%" ... but gives none of the reasons... which is what leads me to think he may be the reason. He starts out being rude... and ASKS to be blasted... he got it. I'd blast him again.

Then you find out the club had no lease... so the property owner has the right to to tell the club to buzz off with no warning. (Which he did.) Its generally a good idea to get a lease. Makes it easier to figure out how to resolve problems without losing the field.

J_R's saying "THE AMA has been contacted" is far different from "The AMA is being contacted." One says they might get the info/request to the AMA shortly... the other says the AMA has the info/request already... and may even have responded.... neither says anything about having gotten a response or what it was. (but its still the AMA's fault that the field isn't back in operation within 30 min of the notice being posted...)

Again (as I posted earlier) a landowner that has been happilly allowing the use of the land for model aviation DOES NOT post such a notice unless some dirtbag did something to make him mad. The AMA leadership in Muncie almost certainly did not do it.

You think the guy needs an apology for being called out for more info? No way.

Find out who made the landowner mad... and what it was that was done that should not have been done.

My bet is... the landowner was probably justified in kicking the club off the land to get rid of the dirtbag. Its probable the landowner made complaints about the dirtbag to the club leadership before... and they took no action. That would leave the landowner no option but to boot the club.

But no... we can't have that... can't make some dirtbag who is probably violating club rules accept responsibility for his actions.

FHH, thank you for your time clarifying the situtation. I was beginning to believe that tbone' was just venting frustration after losing his flying field. As usual, your impeccable logic and inventive analysis of the situation have more than edified us. You have given us a glimpse into your special crystall ball that divines the substance and intent of all posts you choose to grace with your kind comments.

Gentlemen

Flagrant disregard of RCU rules by using abusive wards would lead to immediate removal from RCU.

Your cooperation would be highly appreciated.

Default RE: lost field

I just got an email from an RCU member asking for details regarding this thread. I got the email because I am the webmaster of the club's website. But I will attempt to clear up a few things regarding this.

First off, it is not a troll and we did abruptly lose our field. I don't know why tbone would post this here unless he was looking for some information. Perhaps his reasoning was out of pure frustration over this. From what I know about it, no one really seems to know what's going on. Secondly, 268 Sky Kings got its name, I believe, from the fact that state road 268 runs fairly close to the field - thus 268 Sky Kings.

The club did not have a lease, but had been flying there for more than the 3 years that I have been a member. Based on the information that I received in a telephone call from the club Secretary, everything was fine on Friday when a few of the guys were flying. Saturday morning when the club's secretary showed up to fly, the pit area was partially blocked off and signs posted that as of April 30 we were evicted, it was non-negotiable and that violators would be prosecuted.

At this field, which is out in the middle of nowhere, there has been one or two of the locals who complain but it is my understanding that the land owner had always defended the club. We kept the area clean and the grass field nicely maintained. Based on the phone call I had Saturday with the club Secretary, this came out of left field with absolutley no warning.

Since the news was posted to our website on Saturday, the only accurate statement that could be made was that the club officers would be contacting AMA to see what assistance they can offer in our efforts at finding a new field. It is also my understanding that one of the members as a lead on a potential location for a new field. A meeting is suppose to be set up for this week to figure out the club is going to do.

Since I am not privy to all the insider information and based solely on what little I know, it looks like the land owner got a wild hair up his arse and pulled the plug on the field. While I have no complaints about what the land owner did - it was his property after all - I do have a problem with the way he did it and it was pretty chicken s$%t. Please note that it was my words on the website that he used. And the sad thing about this is that the local newspaper had just been out to the field and was going to run some kind of thing in the paper.

Basically, this is everything that I know about it and normally I do not get invloved in these kind of bs arguments where one member takes it upon himself to climb up on a soapbox and be a moron - even though that is his right and priviledge. I am probably not going to accomplish anything more than add fuel to the fire, but I feel that tbone is catching a lot of unnecessary crap over this.

FH, it is my opinion that you were/are way out of line to openly accuse tbone of being the cause of us losing our field. You make your statements without any facts or even a hint of a clue as to what is/was going on. You just jump on your soapbox and start blasting tbone. How you can claim he started out being "rude"? Did you need the justification in order to dump all over him?

True the club had no lease, but a lease is only as good as the paper it is written on and you are absolutely correct in that the "owner has every right to tell the club to buzz off with no warning." But, since no one seems to know what happened and the club had an apparently good relationship with the land owner, this was out of the blue. If there were in fact problems, the general membership were not made aware of the problems.

At no point has anyone, to the best of my knowledge, from our club made any claim to AMA being responsible for this situation. Why is that someone comes in here, makes a statement, and you feel that you have the right to try and rip him a brand new one? Maybe you need to spend a little more time gathering facts in order to formulate an informed opinion instead of just letting garbage flow. You assessments and opinions could not have been more wrong in this discussion.

To those who have expressed support and concern with out plight, I hope that you now have more facts. On behalf of the 268 Sky Kings, I'd like to say thank you.

Finally FH, attempting to flame me will be a waste of time because in a battle of wits, my friend, you are unarmed.

Regards,

FWIW, I poted som questions regarding the loss of the 268Skykings field. Certainly it is a sad thing to have happen. I can sympathsize with the members. I am familiar with a club that had a beautiful field for 35 years when "out of the blue" came a notice "you have 6 months to tear down/take down all structures and vace the premises. And no amount of public out cry helped.
The local archdiocese owned the property. And no reason was given.
I might suggest that a COOL HEADED member contact the owner and try to determine the cause. And hopefully be able to rectify the situation.
GOOD LUCK

Gentlemen

Flagrant disregard of RCU rules by using abusive wards would lead to immediate removal from RCU.

Your cooperation would be highly appreciated.

Regards

Ben (moderator AMA & JET forums)
Then, why has Huber not been severely admonished or removed ?

I have seen "contributors" removed from other forums (ezone, and others)
for lesser asocial behavior.

Rational minds yearn to know.

Hi Steve

Welcome to the AMA forum. In the beginning, when this forum was first established, it was determined that, since it is political by nature, that it is, in fact, a contensious forum. The level of attacks in this thread are realitively mild.

For the record, I support huber's right to his opinion. I don't agree with it, but I support his right to express it. It would annoy me no end if ANYONE were ejected from RCU, and this forum in particular, because of posts in this forum.

Generally, the moderator's only respond to complaints and keep a very low profile. If you want a tightly moderated forum, try any of the others on RCU. It certainly appears that you are capable of taking care of yourself.

In the very rare case when a moderator does have something to say, it is wise to take heed. We probably have some of the most patient, fair, and impartial moderators anywhere on the net.

IUnlike some others... I don't hide behind some made up username. I don't hide behind some fake avitar pic. The pic is me and the username is my name. AND my e-mail address has the same username before the @.

And the crusade is continued by a person that has no imagination that hates people having fun in the hobby.
