ke, that insurance thing would probably depend somewhat on weather or not you were being paid to pilot the target drone around for the shooters.

Well, now, strictly speaking, cisco is correct.
The plane in that video has pyro-technics on it.
Rule 8 in gen'ral roolze prohibits such.

My legal sources disagree. The Safety Code excepts certain items:
"Exceptions include Free Flight fuses or devices that burn producing smoke and are securely attached to the model aircraft during flight."

"...or..." is a coordinating conjunction and therefore separates "devices" from the term "Free Flight fuses" which concludes a separate statement. Those devices did not separate from the aircraft, just provided smoke, and thus, as written, they are legal.

However I may be inclined to go cheap and use small bags of white flour.

Cool. Everything in the video is AMA compliant. Local regs may vary but this is doable.

I'm jealous! I think this idea could be scaled down a little bit and it would still be fun. It would make a great AMA event with a little bit of tweaking.

It would be harder to hit a Futaba being that it is hopping thousands of time a second. Better use Spectrum with their "pick and stick"sitting duck technology.

It dont take much armor around just the RX to stop a pellet or two of #8,
its not a 120 tungsten dart round after all.

I was thinking more along the lines of a semi-automatic rifle. A little more sporting.

A tripod mounted semi-auto shotgun might be fun.

Would love to, however only for bird shot. In the state of Texas, firing a single ball bullet into the air is unlawful and such can relieve one of his/her concealed handgun license. I would never chance that anyway.

When I was around 11-12 years old, I lived on 40 acres and one day I was out by a fence post kneeling down, when ZIING by my ear and THUD into the post. It was a .22 long rifle bullet. Just after the thud, I heard a rifle shot just off the property. Probably someone shooting a squirrel or a bird. That never prevented me from doing same until I got old, but for some years I don't do such and I don't like hunters that shoot at squirrels with a 22. [:@]

Hossfly makes a good point. If you are going to do this for real, LEGAL and SAFE are the most important part. Thanks Hossfly.
