You may want to rethink that engine choice. I started out with a Saito 180 on mine. After a couple of years and a hundred or so flights, I replaced the Saito with a DLE 30. The price of glow fuel was the Saito's undoing. With the DLE, the performance is unreal. It does 125-130 mph and even with the extra weight, it still flies like a dream. A couple of other guys at our field have them with OS 160's. Another great combo, but still expensive to feed. We all flog the piss out of these things and no one's had any structural problems. The covering is another story, but that's well known.

Umm... What Engine choice? I have an OS 75 on Mine and She SCREAMS, Ifly Her 80% of the time on less the half throttle... There isnt anything Icant do on Her that Ican think of. The combo is just amazing. I mean thats great you like gassers and so on butthe whole "May want to rethink My engine choice" is a bit much, making it sound like she is under powered with a 75 or something..

You are talking about the 60 size yes? lol..

It says .60-size on the box. Compare the span, area and weight to a 25% gasser. They are virtually identical. This kit(arf) flies so well, the only way to make it better is to make it faster. Though it took 90% or so power due to the 16-10 prop on the Saito 180, mine would hover. When I first set it up, I programmed "ailevators" to boost the roll rate. With enough throw, they provide adequate roll control in a hover. Not very scale-like, but it sure quiets the peanut gallery after a 125 mph inverted low pass. I've even gotten some half-assed flat-spins out of it. Lots of throw, with lots of expo to go with it and lots of power to make it happen. Now THAT'S fun!

My son flies his with an old O.S. .61 FSR, surprisingly enough, it flies great with that engine, he can fly all day and not use a lot of fuel either. Each to their own.
Merry Christmas!

I have an OS .75 AX in mine and am delighted with the way it flies. With scale aerobatics and an engine that is fully enclosed in the cowl it could not be better.

I think the DLE 20cc would be the ticket.....A 30cc might be an overkill.

I have one of these that HAD a YS91 that has been converted to an OS1.60. As soon as the wheels left the runway I knew it was something special. The YS91 was plenty of power but it doesn't bring out the full potential of the airplane. The bigger engines are a very nice upgrade if you feel the need !

I have a Dle20 in mine and it flies decent. I live at 5900 feet so, it would fly better at sea level.

To each his own guys, but there is such thing as overkill..lol.
My OS 75 is more then enough and as Ihave said Ican do any and all Aerobatics just fine and pattern fly at 1/4 or less throttle. I dont do 3D and Im sure for Prop Stands She would prob need something stronger, MAYBE, but whatever works.
Never been happier with a plane, How Ilove the zero throttle landings, like a trainer..

That's the beauty of this airplane. With a 60-75 2-stroke or 91 4-stroke, it's a capable trainer/sport airplane that won't scare anyone. Stuff the cowl with some REAL horsepower and it's a high-performance rocket ship that will keep you grinning all weekend. Throttle back and it goes right back to tame again. It's the most fun I've had with a prop plane.

rcguy, you are exactly right! The other plane that is the same way is the Revolver 70.

I looked at the Revolver 70 on Tower the other day. I have a Saito 100 not doing anything at the moment. Would the Saito make this thing a hot rod?

I don't know about making it a hotrod but it would fly the plane very well. I have a Magnum 91 four stroke in the Revolver and am happy with its performance.

yeah but even with my os120ax its not an over kill, flys fast with great power but not terribly over powered. i dont have unlimited verticle but it will climb a good 500Ft before it drops off. Best flying plane in my 12 plane fleet.

Revolver 70 + a 75AX = 105mph airplane flat and level at wide open throttle
Revolver 70+ a os120ax = 130mph airplane flat and level at wide open throttle
These speeds were clocked by bushnell radar doppler gun

If this is true, my Revolver 70 with a 75AX is way under performing![&o]
