Default World Models GS P-51 "Wing Setup"

I just got one of the older versions of the Miss America. Was looking at the wings and the directions. Anybody had anyproblems with the wings on theis bolt together thing. Any wings folding up or anything at all.
I am not sure whether to leave it or make a one piece wing. Thanks.

Default 2 piece for me

Hello, I have glued my horizontal together but have left the main wing in 2 pieces. I've heard different thoughts on whether or not to use the 2 small bolts they give you to hold the wing together. One guy at the field does not...he says the 2 dowels/2 mounting screws and the spars should be enough.
I use the 2 bolts and the small aluminum angles. I did not use them one day and substituted zip ties instead. I now have more dihedral than I started with
I straightened my spar as far as I could feel comfortable with (I hate bending aluminum--afraid it is getting weaker) and use the bolts always. I think I'll try to find some aluminum tube 7075 at T6 hardness and use that for a spar. My spar measures 1.015" and the .015 makes me nervous. I don't think I'll find one that size, probably only 1.000 which would be slightly loose.
I'm running a Moki 2.10, APC 18x12 at 8500rpm, and the plane weighs just under 17#

Hello, I flew the plane again last weekend and the spar is bending more. I went to the local metal supply house during the week and picked up a piece of 6061-T6 aluminum tube. It is even blue anodized so it looks good. Overall OD was 1.005---till .010" smaller but I think it will be ok. It's also thicker than original. Was about .040" and new tube is .060"---Picked up some 7/8" hardwood dowel to fill in the ends to mimic the original and glued a 7" piece in the middle.
Hopefully the wing will blow apart before the spar bends again.......

Do you think that was due to when you hooked things up with the zip ties? I noticed in mine there is some sort of dowel inside the tube. i doubt that helps. I may take your advice and just find a thicker tube

Yeah, I'm sure the zip ties didn't help any. The dowel that comes stock inside the aluminum tube is some sort of hard balsa. Push on it with a pick or your thumb nail. It will make an indention. I actually think the balsa is to apply some support up inside the wing. The spar is cut like it is for a reason and I figure the balsa adds more flat surface area to the tube. Otherwise, the sharp edges of the aluminum might cut through the wing? I'll post later and let you know how the new spar worked out. Dave
