Hello,
Not sure if this has been mentioned here. I am assembling a Great Planes u-can-do 3D .46 ARF. I am at the point of mounting the engine (Magnum XL .70FS 4 stroke). The blind nuts for the motor mount are offset to the left and the instructions say that this is done so the spinner will be on center-line of the fuse. I have the mount on the firewall but see no way that the engine or spinner will be centered. The engine is to be mounted inverted not on it's side. Is this done to correct thrust issues? Could someone familiar with this plane explain this setup?

The nuts in the firewall should be off toward the left. The plane has right thrust built in, so having the engine sit toward the left is supposed to make the end of the crank line up in the center of the cowl. With the engine on the mount, stretch a string from the center of the stab to the center of the engine thrust washer. Looking down the string should show it to be the center of the fuse.If you set the cowl down on a table nose down, you will see the front of the cowl has the same angle as the firewall. This is common to most aerobatic planes. It has nothing to do with the engine being mounted inverted. The right thrust simply helps offset the thrust of the engine.

Thanks David. I see it now looking down at the cowl. Also looking down on the fuse I can see the firewall is angled to the right. Now it makes sense.
