Yes that is it .. I can't believe the price...It is a super deal...It dosent come with the airfoil covers but I think I would forget them anyway...One of mine broke when I was putting it together...I was able to repair it but I think I would sooner have the little bags that you tie on...It would just be easier to access the bands when you need to do maint...The Airfoil covers is part of what I didnt like about the gear....They look nice but the little blocks inside are easy to break and big paws like mine have a hard time getting that little block back where it belongs....

Not too expensive:-) I kind of like the looks of them on, But yes, a pain if you have to do maintenance.

Well I know I am way over servoed but this is what I am running in mine... I have HS645 MG 's in everything but the throttle and in the throttle I have a DS821 ... I have a AR7000 reciever . I could easily get by with Hi -Tec 425 BB I think because this is a Cub and if you fly it like a Cub they are pretty gentalflying planes...DS821's are a fairly good choice if you want digital ...I have had About 10 821's in a few of my planes and they work great...Strong trouble free...I have heard that digital's use more juice than anilog but with the batteries they have nowadays you don't need to worry about that...

DUUUUUDE, rule #1 is you don't let the wife or girlfriend see the bills. Pay cash at the local HS, disguise them as something else, you know, "Tower Hobby Autoparts!" and with respect to all, a four banger is a 4 cylinder aircraft or auto, like an Indy car or Model A. Glow engines have 4 strokes and two strokes, sometimes called 2 or 4 cycle. You got a great project going here. I am about to finish my Hang 9 Cub with floats. I'm going electric with it. Went to Lake Havasu, AZ Float Fly this last fall & it was a blast!!! Best of luck, and it's good to paractice several times a week on an R/C simulator. wallace.tharp

had a .46 two stroke on one and yes it will be under powered and the wind will play hell with it , like they said best to do it right the first time 70 four stroke is perfect for this cub.

Tower Hobbies TS-53 Standard Servo U they will be just fine for that cub

if i had a choice in four strokes between the magnum and the thunder tiger go thunder tiger. Magnums dont like to be mounted upside down thunder tigers dont care they just want to fly.

Four stroke for sure.  Mount it in any position. Powerfull and easy on fuel.  The Magnum engines are very reliable.  </p>

I'd like to use the same servos for everything....what would you all recommend that is not to overly expensive but good enough to drive everything.

I am using Hi Tec 425's...My buddy bought a whack of them for 13 bucks each... I am not sure where he got them but He gets good deals and shares with the club. The pictures should be here. I'm trying to post pictures of the wing struts.

i have a hangar 9 cub, it flew just fine with a 46 if you flew it like a cub is supposed to fly, its not a 3d plane and you don't need a big engine to hang it on the prop. i later bought another cowl and switched to a os 70 surpass, i putt along 2-3 clicks above idle all day long

Believe it or not I can actually fly my Cub like a Cub is supposed to fly with my OS 81 fs even if it is over powered...Yes I could fly it on a 46 2 stroke if I wanted to but I would sooner fly it using a bigger four stroke turning a bigger prop slower..It sounds better to me and that is my choice with my plane .. I have never thought of 3 Ding my Cub just because I have a bigger motor than it needs...I also fly it from floats and the extra power comes in handy there... If you need to add weight to the nose to balance the plane it dosent hurt to add a little extra motor instead...I think the 46 is a little on the underpowered side although it will fly the plane...It depends on how hot the day is and what your altitude is as well...Why push the envelope if you dont need to ?

As one who has recommended and uses a .46 2 stroke in this plane, I must be more specific and say "a high performance ball bearing .46" such as an OS 46 FX, OS 46 AX, or TT 46 pro, not a bushing bearing lower output enging like an OS 46 LA. There is a great difference in what a .46 Ax will fly well and what a .46 LA will fly well. The 46 LA is a fine little engine but would "meet it's match" in this airframe!

I think the ts-53 servos should be fine on everything as long as you set up the linkages to get maximum servo throw on the recommended high rates. I would feel better about them on six volts if it was my plane. If you don't mind Chinese servos there are a few out there that have proven to be reliable for the same price and will handle the cubs surfaces without breaking a sweat.

I would not try to save too much on servos...Just make sure you get reliable proven servos that you can trust espially on the critical surfaces like elevator and aileron... I have had good luck with Hi -Tec Servos Lots of guys use Futaba..I tried them and I just didn't care for how the little rubber grommets attach...The servos worked fine...I think if you can its a good Idea to pick a brand you like and stick to it because then you will have a bunch of arms that are all the same...If you get a bunch of different brands of servos then you have all these different servo arms that dont fit each other..And worse yet some almost fit and then slip when under pressure and your controle surface quits working ..

I have the GP ARF cub with a Saito 72 on it and it’s a good match. It fly’s great and has a good sound. I got the engine used in like new condition for $115. I’m using an AR7000 and DS821. If your plane is the ARF and has the CA type hinges for the wing strut mount don’t use them they will break for sure. I replaced them with nylon ones and have no problems now.

For what it's worth, here's a picture of my 20 year old Goldberg clipped wing Cub with the original OS .46 FX, standard Futaba servos and she fly's just fine. Now you all have me thinking of the magnum 4 stroke.... !
