You should read about Jimmy Franklin's bipe if you get a chance. I got to see him at this years Terra Haute air show. That is infact a jet engine on the bottom of that thing . He puts on one hell of a show, then does it again with his son wing walking . As far as I could tell he had unlimited verticle.

BRYANO,
Jimmy Franklin will be at the Sussex Airshow Aug 27-28-29.
As well as Sean Tucker, Bobby Yonkin, The Misty Blues, Steve Coen, Angelo Cillerato and a bunch more.
It would be worth the ride to see them.

When is someone going to do the Jimmy Franklin Waco and strap a turbine on the bottom??!! It is absolutly unbelievable to see his airshow with the jet on the bottom of his Waco....I still hrin when I think of it....and yep from what I saw... I'd say he's got unlimited vertical!!!

Someone is already doning the Franklin Waco and it would not take much to fabricate a mock-up of the turbine and mount it underneath. I would imagine with a ZDZ 40 you will have unlimited verticle anyway so a functioning turbine is not really needed on a model for that kind of performance IMHO.

Just so you know, we have a customer that installed a dummy turbine on the bottom then ran his exhaust with a smoke system through it.
It's powered by a ZDZ40 and the vertical is absolutely unlimited, or at least as high as he can see it and know what it's doing.

It has been shipping for some time now but I'm not sure of color availability (red and silver or solid cream). Overworked could possibly respond to that question better than I.

They are available in Red/Silver Franklin trim or beige so you can do your own trim scheme.
If you LHS is a Kangke dealer they can order it and you can pick it up at the warehouse.
If your LHS is not a dealer have them call 1 877 203 2377 and ask for James to get set up as a dealer.
Or you can call or stop in and order direct.

I gave mine its maiden flight last night. It is a very nice flying plane. I, honestly, did not even have to touch the trims. I have not done any aerobatics with it yet but so far I am very impressed

Thanks. right now it is pretty overcast, but I am hopefull. My set up consists of a ZDZ40 engine, standard hitec servos on the four ailerons, Hitec 625mg servos on the elevators and rudder.

My engine is a Moki 1.35. There are four aileron servos, two elevator servos (Mounted in the tail) and one rudder servo with a Kevlar pull-pull system. The incidence is at +1 degree (Top wing with respect to bottom wing) and the control throws are as recommended in post # 124. As I said, I have just cruised around with it and have not done any aero.

Mine went up tonight after waiting 2 hours for the wind to die down. Another club member usually takes my planes up for the maidens. Everything seemed to be going well and he was very impressed with the plane when it got hit with tons of glitching, all of a sudden. Not sure where it came from or why, but he basically lost all control input for about 10 seconds. After regaining control, he was able to land uneventfully. I probably will take out the FM receiver and invest in a PCM receiver to eliminate the interference. I guess the plane survived to fly another day. Its a shame because I was really looking forward to flying it.

Great to hear your plane was saved!! Yes on the PCM for gas motors. Thats all I've ever used with gas. NEVER have had a glitchen problem. Make sure your plug wire is seated tight that can cause glitching while adding throttle. Good luck.
