Default SIG Kadet LT40 ARF - Pushrod question

I'm just about finished building my 1st ARF. One problem I'm having is with the rudder pushrod. I center my servo and hook up my pushrod. The servo can move the rudder from left to right just fine, but when I let go of the stick it buzzes a little. I believe the pushrod is binding or is to tight when coming out of the fuselage. I have spent hours and hours trying to fix the binding. Any advice? Should I replace the original pushrods with something else?

Default SIG Kadet LT40 ARF - Pushrod question

Prock,

I just completed that step last night, and did find several problems with the directions for the LT-40. On the exit port for the rudder, it bends down into the airframe. The directions say to use a 7 inch threaded rod. The problem with that is the rod makes it bind at the entry point into the fuselage. I cut the rod down to 5 inches so that at even in full left rudder the rod is just aft of the entry point. Doing this kept the rigidity, but made the rudder not bind. I also found the "cutting lengths" for the push rods at the servo's to be long as well. Hope this helps. PM if you have any other questions. I will be glad to help if I can.

Default SIG Kadet LT40 ARF - Pushrod question

I had the same problem last year. I called SIG and they offered to make good by replacing the fuse (and all of the parts I had glued to it). Only problem was this was at the end of September and the fuse was on backorder. I wanted to fly ASAP so I decided to fix it myself. I considered replacing the whole rudder pushrod assy. Gave up on that when I saw I would have to make a hole in the plane to do it.
Then I dragged the fuse into the LHS where I bought it. The solution we came up with was Sullivan Gold N Rods. I picked a size small enough to fit in the existing tube in the fuse. To make it like the instructions, also picked up some threaded rod and DuBro 2MM clevises.

I think I still have the package. E-mail if you would like me to get the exact part number.

Found the package, unfortunately the little cardboard tag is missing.

Just dug thru the Sullivan web. Product is S504 48" gold n rod.
I only used the inner piece. The guys at the LHS set me up with
2mm threaded rods same length as the LT40 arf provides. I guess the 2-56 rods would not go in to the sullivan tube. Bought a pair of DuBro 2MM locking clevis (#819)

I used this piece exactly like the LT40 directions said. Cut the wires to the same length

I replaced all the other clevis' with the DuBro lockers as well.
Good luck

Jim

The Du-Bro rods work fine in the existing set up and you can use 2-56 rods.
