Default WM Rambler's Engine Mount?

If anyone out there has a World Models Rambler 45 I need to know which WM's engine mount is used? I'm wanting to mount an ENYA 53 four stroke on it and the mount has to be a WM PL5111050, or larger in order for the engine to be mounted.

Thanks,
Dennis

Yo Dmacsimum! Funny! Check out your other thread about the WM super sports! I'm recomending the Rambler to you as an alternative! I have the factory manual and possibly an extra factory engine mount for the Rambler. I've got a Magnum 80 Four stroke in mine and I think I used the factory engine mount that came with the Rambler. I would think it would fit the ENYA? The manual will probably tell me what engine mount came with the kit. Do you not have the manual? (I actually have two, I think) unless I threw the spare copy away. I can probably give you the MF mount part number tomorrow. Flyboy 1950 (Bob)

Flyboy1950,
I remember someone recommending the Rambler and it was in the back of my head, but I was looking for something that showed off the engine a bit better. I'm also now considering one of the ugly sticks for the engine is normally upright, and is not covered up by a cowl. By the way, in the Rambler is the engine mounted inverted, sideways, or upright?

I'm still interested in finding out the engine mount # though, so please let me know huh?

Thanks Bob,
Dennis

Hi Dennis. My engine is mounted inverted. As a "scale nut", my goal is to hide the engines as much as possible. On my Rambler, I even added a fuel pump so I could eliminate the muffler sticking out the side. The Factory engine mount for the Rambler is a PL5111-050. I have a spare that I probably won't use if you want it. I'll send you a picture of mine when I can on this thread. Thanks, Flyboy1950 (Bob) I may have been me recommending the Rambler in an earlier thread on "first Low wing airplane"?

Bob, I think you were the one that recommended the Rambler for the "1st L.W. Airplane" I posted a while back. Thanks for the offer of the engine mount by the way, but I won't be needing it. I believe the PL5111-050 will work because I also have an extra one I had laying around. Judging by placing the engine mount close to a firewall and setting the engine on the beams it looks like it will work. Now to work out the linkage and other variables.

By the way, I know it wouldn't look scale, but would the plane work okay by either mounting the engine on its side, or upright even? I'm really wanting to see the engine some, and that I'm somewhat of a novice flyer still, I'd feel more comfortable landing the bird knowing the engine isn't dangling below looking for objects if you know what I mean...[sm=bananahead.gif]
Hard landings every once in a while still happen. I really want this plane to be a Sunday flyer and just putta putta it around. If eventually I felt the need for more power, I could always mount another engine I have, or buy another......

I would like to see a pic of your recovered Rambler45 Bob, and thanks a bunch again!
Dennis

Man, is not the Enya .53 Purdeeeeee ?

Happy flying!

Bob, and any others,
This is the dilema I'm facing! The throttle is close to the beam. If I try to mount it from the out side, I would have to grind ALOT of the mount away. Probably too much!!!! I do not believe there is enough room to mount linkage on the inside, straight shot due to the movement of the lever on the carb lever....

How in the &#&*(@$@^$@*^!)*&!#$ do I throttle, and run linkage to this ????????????????????????????/

Very Frustrated,
Dennis

Hi Dennis. Sorry for delay. On weekends, I'm in competition with my 14 year old (female ... there the worst!) for internet and phone time. I would be surprised if you can not reverse the throttle arm on the Enya so it's above the engine mount? By the way, I used the stock mount on my Rambler for my Magnum 80 FS. It should be fine for the Enya. You can mount the engine either way. I would probably mount it upright for your needs. Flyboy1950 (Bob)

Duh, gee Rocky watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat, again, nothing up my sleeve............presto! RRRRRRRRRRRRRR, and now here's something we hope you'll really like.

Bob, with the carb lever secured upright, it looks like I will be able to have a shot at hooking up the throttle linkage W/O any major problems. I just sat the engine near the engine mount location on my W.M. SS40S, and the throttle linkage from that airplane almost lined up. It was a bit lower, but I believe if the location is near that of the SS40S it would work. If not, I will pobably try to re-drill a new path for a new throttle line to attempt to make it work.

I believe I'm going to buy the Rambler 45 for to be powered by the Enya 53 engine. Hopefully I can get a straight shot to the linkage for the carb on the Enya 53 and finally get to fly this engine.

Thanks a bunch Bob for your help. I may have some other inquiries about the Rambler 45 in the future if you don't mind.

Dennis

Bob,
Wow, the recover job makes the plane look like no other Rambler 45. Heck makes the plane look like a totally different plane all together almost. By the way nice DynaThrust propeller. What size do you use with your Magnum .80 four stroke anyway? I sure do like the 15 sized DynaThrust propellers. The foil and thickness sure does jump to a different size when you jump from the 14 inch size from their 15 inch size....

Thanks again for your help Bob, and others.

Hi guys. The engine is inverted and it has a 13/8 in that picture. It's quite fast! I recently tried a 14/6 on it and it just about hovers. I'm getting around 7000 rpm static so I think a 15 would be too much. 3-D is not my passion but I like the performance with the 14/6. The Dynathrust props are a great value however I had one (brand new) fail in flight on a Topflight Corsair (65") and I got real lucky. I dropped the nose and put the Corsair on the ground fast and when I got to the plane the entire nose including the firewall was hanging off.
The Throttle cable was the only thing keeping the nose and the engine on. It was an easy rebuild but could have been a total waste! A close look at the prop seemed to imply a weakness in the casting. The Rambler has great scale lines. The new finish really makes it stand out. Thanks guys! Flyboy1950 (Bob)
