Anyone ever build and fly the Thunder Tiger Stick .40 ARF? Would this be a good plane for the just past trainer pilot which I hope to be in a few months? I know it has a symmetrical wing. Is this too difficult to fly? I have a .42 that I would put in it. Thanks,

KB it would be an ok 2nd plane I have had one and I put one together for my nephew to learn on, they fly great but are a bit heavy so your 42 is right on the edge power wise but would work. The only thing I didn't like about it and maybe this has changed is they are covered with the "shelve paper" type of covering and unless they changed that I would go with another companies stick. I'm sure there are a lot of companies that make a 40 size stick arf, you might try Tower for starters. If you are getting a great deal on it(under $100.00 bucks) or don't mind tearing off the covering if it lives long enough and re-covering it then by all means go for it, I have no beef with the way the plane flys but the covering is junk other than that it would make a good second plane.

It's still covered in the shelf paper. [:'(]
Maybe look into a Hangar 9 Ultra Stick, or a GP Big Stick....price on these is only slightly higher than the Tiger Stick.

It's a good (flies well) second plane but the covering isn't that great. And, the plastic wing tips break, or crack after time. I've had mine for six years and finally broke down and recovered the wing (No wing tips now). I'd shoot for something covered in monocoat or some other shink type coating. Perhaps a Great Planes Big Stick?
