i duno know wat to do, as you may or may not know, i crashed my twist, fuse snapped where supposed to, just emailed mike mcconville about it, hoping to here back from him, about why twsits are so weak in this area, told him about all the guys on rcuniverse, when the crash the twist, it cracks where my did behind canopy, but heres my question, i had an OS .50SX on it, just past break-in, runs fanastic, i have mounts already drilled for my next twist, or i wanted to try YS 63 engine for 1st time, with the 50SX, it hovers at about 1/3 throttle, takes off in about 3 feet, and i have mounts drilled, should i stay with 50SX or go with the YS 63? Thanks!!

about my little repair issue i had, i took yall's advice and rebuilt the vertical stab. all i had was a glittery blue covering, so it looks completly out of place, but i still like it. after i fly tomorrow morning i'll take pictures if it lives. hehe. hmm.....i wonder if many more people at the field have gotten twists, cause last time i was there, there were 3 others, but that was 9 months ago. we'll see!! here is last year's pic if you havnt seen it. and if you're wondering, im 16 years old[8D]

BarCC I wish you would try the YS 63. I was gonna try that engine on the Extreme flight edge 540, if we can ever get one. I bet it would swing a 13x4 just fine, maybe even a 14x4.

I know, but i never tried YS before, and my OS 50SX is already broken in, and I have the engine mounts already drilled, and the price for the fuel for YS is more expensive, and with the 50sx, it hovers at 1/3 throttle!!

because all ive ever owned was 2 stroke, except for an OLD enya 120 someone gave to me, and an OS 120 III pmuped, which needs a new pump system. I just wanted to try something new 4 stroke to me.

Nah, I was talking about the screws for my needle valve on my G-51. I lost them last week while flying...I guess they just loosened up while in flight. It's a brand new engine so I got them sent from Super Tigre's warranty department free of charge.
I've seen the 8-32 nylon bolts at the hobby shop and thought about replacing them but just haven't. They're Du-Bro brand and come 4 to a pack. They're just like the 4-20 or whatever fits the wing bolt...I've bought some of them.

if it is flying fine with the 50Sx why change it? then you may have to rebalance because of the weight difference. You will also have to get a different fuel tank because of the pressurized system.
Now if you bought a new rocket ship and it needs the 50SX, then you might want to consider the YS63 and the changes to make it work. Although they are a little more money they are great running engines once you dial them in. Plus you may need different fuel for them. I have 4 of them (1.20, 1.40L, 1.10 and the .63) and I am using 20% nitro Magnum fuel. They run like a top.

BARCC,
I have to agree, if you happy with the perfprmance of the one you have, why get another? Maybe you want MORE power (cue grunting). IMHO it would be to much work for only a couple of horses..
I know I have a Saito .72 and MAN do I love it. Plenty of power and authority when I need it. My problem is I love to fly fast on the deck and sometimes to much power low causes crashes...
I have put my twist through the wringer, many times. When it could no longer be glued together for the 12th time I was ready for another plane, but the twist still had my attention, so I bought another one and put the same .72 Saito in it.
Good Luck and keep us up to date.

There's a little rattle in my wing after all the flying I've done with it. I don't know what it is, maybe a little piece of scrap balsa came loose??? I did the old dance...shaking it around over my head trying to get it to fall out. If anybody plays guitar and dropped a pick inside an acoustic guitar and tried to get it out...that's what I was doing with the Twist wing.

Very early on in this thread as people were getting the first Twist to be sold, there was a problem with them...there were several that were shipped with broken ribs. And several more were shipped with a lot of "scrap" balsa that would come loose during shipping and rattle around. Mine didn't have any rattles until the last few months...I guess some scrap pieces kinda worked loose.
Read some of the first pages of this thread and you will see where folks sent their wings that had broken pieces in them back and got a new wing shipped to them.

Finally got mine finished. Between poking holes in the covering and breaking off half of the horz. stab, I think that it's airworthy. Pilot Bart Simpson is at the controls. Hopefully I'll be able to fly it on Monday. OS .46 SP in the front, Multiplex and Futaba servos. Set-up is relatively mild at low rates - full deflection on high rates. Let's hope it performs as advertised.

I would like to know also. I have a Futaba radio that is capable of this, and would love to hear from anyone that has done this and what the results are. And if so how much travel do you put on the flaps?

My first twist was set up with flaperons, it was cool to hit the switch and watch it drop like a rock!! i also have a JR6102 it was easy to set up, but it's easy to cross the servo wire and hook them up revesed, put tape so ya can them them apart.thats how that twist died, servos reversed and trottle stuck 1/4 open getting dark and lost her
. only hard part of setting them up is making sure you have the same travel on both side's, if ya don't it'll fly like crap!! i used a y harness on my 2nd TWIST to make it blonde-proof!!
