Tried steel wool in 2 stroke glow exhausts quite a few years ago. It reduced the noise level a fair bit, but had a tendency to restrict the exhaust flow a lot. I figure this was because the oil expelled by the motor coated the individual 'fibres' of the steel wool, clogging it up eventually, - used to ooze oil out for weeks after as well.
Why not try secondary expansion chambers attached to each outlet of the pitts exhaust. Good silencing effect with much less loss of power!

Regards

Andy E

PS You have to be REALLY careful that bits from the steel wool do not find their way back through the exhaust port, it aint too good for the piston and liner!!!

FWIW, I have an OS .61FX in a 1/4 scale Spacewalker with a pitts muffler and it ain't any louder than engines with stock mufflers. Not enough to notice anyway.

All Pitts style mufflers are loud, even your Rossi mini tune pipes. You best option is to be a nice boy and take off with as little throttle as you can get away with and then fly high! There is no option to silence a Pitts style muffler, it does not have a baffle.

Senza, don't know where you might find them in the States, but I am sure that there must be people who manufacture them.
One company that does them here is called Just Engines. Link below!
