I see Abellrc has these now. I emailed and they have 3 in stock. These guys are very good to deal with and say that they can get parts. I am very tempted.

Have a Saito .82 that I just pulled out of a Ultra-rc Katana. I am looking for a plane that I can start to learn IMAC maneuvers with and can also do 3d. Thae Katana was good for pattern flying but had a nasty tendancy to roll out with agressive elevator movement, even with lower rates than suggested low rates. It hovered nicely though with a 14x4 prop. This plane looks interesting, but Im also considering the Pacific Aeromodel Edge 540. How do they fly differently. I've herd a lot of good things about the edge, but I already have a .30 size extra from Yellow Aircraft, It a Funkey I believe and this is a solid, fun plane. It puts a huge smile on my face every time I fly it. Point is I am familiar with the Extra's. How does the edge differ?

I say go for the Extra 330 ... the PacAero is nice but the Fliton is better. I had the PacAero before and I can tell you the Fliton is totally brilliant.

How is the EXTRA on it's side? Does it have enough rudder to KE loop?

Jack r - I would go for the Fliton. If you really want to practice 3D I think it's a better plane. The ailerons are very large and they extend to within an inch of the fuse - this give you the most control from just the wash of the prop - great for harier etc.

Spacewalker - I'm a tad dissapointed in the knife edge flight - I need to keep the speed up quite a bit to go accross the field without loosing altitude. It's not a profile in this respect. It has a very large rudder - so that's not the issue. I think you could get it to KE loop if you entered it at a good clip, or had the saito 100 on there. Maybe a faster prop set up???

But I can't imagine anyone being dissapointed flying this plane. ( i sound like an ad...LOL)

GSP - with the Saito 100 the Extra will do KE loops for sure! For me I can hold a KE with my Saito 72 turning a 12x8 or 13x6 and it can climb but not do a loop.

Makes perfect 3d KE. Also with saito 82 14*4w apc does the KE loop. I know the edge you mention it a nice one but IMO fliton is better in both pattern and 3d. The ailerons almost go till the fuse and have larger area, also elevators have larger area (better for 3D) and the tail section is airfoiled (better for pattern) with the same overall weight and if I am not mistaken fliton is a little bigger. I love this plane.

Well, my LHS says that they ran out of them, but are going to order one with my name on it-- so it looks like in a week or two. [8D] My SA100 should be happy!

its a great flying plane. with no KE coupling at recomended CG. moving it back makes it couple some but still not bad.. The saito 100 ought to be killer on it.. it has plenty of power with the 91 FS weighing in at 6LBS 5oz i bet it will be lighter with the 100 and more power to boot

Saito 100 would be NASTY on this plane! I would like to fly it . Be sure to get the taller gear they offer for it I think it is supposed to be included in the kit now but it wasn't when I got mine. They told me to contact them in a couple weeks when I got my plane I just let it slip my mind but the taller gear is supposed to clear a 17" prop it is tight with a 15X4W on the standard gear.

You guys have to see my pal's Fliton with the Saito 100 ... roll out of only 8" or so. Vertical is truly unlimited. Still ... please ensure you really reinforce the firewall and engine mount box. Use a lot of glass!

I have been spending time with the Fliton and the plane is amazing! I have been flying the F90 for a while and I now find that the Fliton is much better. Literally NO KE coupling, easy to fly, tracks so straight. Mine is powered with a Saito 72 only turning a 13x6 prop with Cool Power 30% heli. Doing IMAC manuevers with this plane is a dream.

I can prop hang on about 70% throttle, the plane pulls out a little slow from a hover. I just started to mix in flaps and this plane will do a great wall ... can see her just come to almost a stop in mid air. This one is a keeper ... I sold the F90 ...

Best power plant is the Saito 82 for sure ... the 100 is for pure 3D mayhem.

You are driving my crazy with envy. It has been over 2 weeks and mine is still not in. Hopefully any day now. Thanks for the reports.---The F90 is week on its side.

i just recently found a YS-63 will hover a 5.6lb plane with ZERo problem pulling out.. If my Flip 3D ever goes in im going to try it in a Fliton EXTRA..
I have flown EXTRA ADDICTS with an OS 91 FS pumped. it is a great flying plane.

One word of warning (NOT BAD NEWS), we found out that it is best to set this plane up with the CG as far foreward as you can get that will still 3D well. ( IM NOT saying to move it foreward more than recomended) im saying that as you move it back the it DOES start to couple.. so if you are experiencing coupling. i would bet money the CG is too far back... as an expirement we tried everything with it too far back and with it moved to the point where it dosent couple and it still flies 3D fine PLUS exelent pattern.. so you get the best of both worlds

That sounds great. At that CG setting does it need any down elevator in inverted flight? Also, will it waterfall tight at that setting?

Very little down..inverted

i never did try waterfaling it. he doesnt have the Elevator throw cranked high enough i suspect.. im sure it would the CG is stll back just not far enough back that coupling started.. we tried rolling harriers, blenders, flat spins, harriers, hovers (btw he needed a tad of right thrust too) KE, elevators and a couple of other things i cant think of. but it never crossed my mind to try a waterfall with it..

I just started doing them on a regular basis due to i never had throws cranked far enough and most of the planes i have been flying wont do them.. but i just started flying my YS-63 flip3d and it has at least 60deg of elevator and it will spin like a waterfall sideways like doing a KE spin but FAST!! he he lot of fun and it will do TEXTBOOK waterfalls too. the extra is WAY overall better plane though

sorry for the book!!

Thanks for the detailed flight report. My guess is if word got out on these planes they would have a hard time keeping them in stock. I just hope mine comes in soon. I am getting anxious to get going on it. Think I will get the SA100 out of the box and broke in.

Drumbum - the YS63 is like the Saito 82, yeah, good stuff.

I have flown many planes over the last 16 months ... the Fliton is the best, definately beats my F90 (I sold the F90 last weekend). Once people really try this plane they will find that its one of THE best 40 sized aerobatic/3D plane in the market. I think my plane needs a tad of right thrust ... when I hover her she pulls a little to the left.

The fun part of Sunday's flight was my pal took her up and 3D her, while doing a Harrier the engine cut ... down she came ... lucky the damage was not bad at all. More flying this weekend again!

I found out today that the Fliton was on back order and my LHS was not expecting it for at least another 4 weeks!!!![sm=eek.gif]

I quickly got on the phone and called Clay at abellrc.com and now there will be one on the way tomorrow. They said after my order they only have one left.

Today at our field one of the very good pilots showed up with one electrified. He flew his IMAC routine with complete precision, incredible.

RC - you are going to have so much fun, what will your power plant be? Remember to reinforce some bits of the plane. Anyways, last weekend my pal kinda crashed my Fliton when he was doing some harriers. So I am now removing the Saito 72 and installing a TT61 2C, will see how she runs on an engine that has a lot less vibration.

I go to the field and find out that I did not notice that the TT61 had a slightly bent needle valve assembly, fuel was leaking outta the needle valve.

RC - I think that EP will be great fun ... I would love to get one for EP but just that the whole set up of an AXI 4160 with a nice 77A ESC and 4 6S2P flight packs.
