The turn-a-round with Horizon shouldn't be over a couple to three days. I would call them again and get some type of return parts number. That should speed things along.

When I had a problem with the Corsair wing, Hirizon took my CC number and shipped the wings to me. As soon as they recieved the bad wings in retun, they sent me an invoice stating I owed nothing.

Thanks for the responses guys =). So you think the dihedral at that angle is ok? I have been so patiently waiting to build this plane! I really hope I don't have to send it back

There ya go...you will be better satisfied, I'm sure. You will really like the way it flies. Landings are "grease job" with this plane. Takeoff's are a bit tricky, just hold a little up and you will do just fine.

Well...My Girl is ready to take flight!
I got my YS 110 back from YS (Bad Plunger) no charge for the repair..and the plus is they "Tuned it" for me...( I just needed to richen her to make up for the Diff in altitude!)
Today I put her in her tail arrestor..and burned up 3 tanks to break in.
She is still set real rich at top end...
I wish I had more prop also..the Master Airscrew 3 blade 14X7 wants to overspin to 10,200.....
I richened her down to 9300-9500 but in the air she is going to Unload....
I need more pitch!..or larger diameter!
anyone have a suggestion?
She balanced with only the slightest anount of lead in the tail!
Now..to wait for a day when the wind isn't blowing 20-30 MPH!
I also need to log a few more flights with My super sportster 40 to "Limber up" the ole thumbs!
I taxied her up and down the steet a few times today..man it was all I could do to keep from kicking her and taking off up the street!
Man..what a beautiful Lady she is!
Larry

Larry,
I maidened mine this morning and OH MY GOSH was this thing a beauty to fly.. and I"ve only been flying for like 6 months. For me... on takeoff I needed no up elevator to keep it from nosing over but I fly off asphault and it rolled out perfectly with no right rudder and lifted off so easily. flew around amazingly easy.... I have a TT .61 on mine inverted and deadsticked twice... needs to be broken in more.. this thing FLOATS forever... and kissed down easier than my trainer... the gear gave me zero problems either.... good luck with it Larry.. I'm sure you'll love it... I sure love mine...

Update on the gear colapse.
The rod that is attached to the gear that actuates it has a plastic piece on the end where the push rod attaches to. The plastic piece broke off due to the side load. The retract servo mount was also busted loose. I fixed the servo mount, I guess I have to call thier support line to find out about getting that retract part.

Any idea if what the pitts muffler for the Saito 100 looks like ? I want to minimize cutting on the cowl and the Kelkoo p-51 muffler is beautiful but too "dirty" with the oil splatter. The only pitts style mufflers I can find for the Saito 100 is the side mounted one and I can't find a picture of one anywhere.

Well, I just broke one of my original LG struts, trying to bend it to original shape....[
]
So if anybody has the original ones (left/right) feel free to send me an email, we can strike a deal
Thx for the help
Btw, mine has an axi 6S2P Irate 2200, 3.8kg and an apc 15*10.
Not brute power but inverted loops are feasible

Maidened the girl today....
Made 4 flights.....
Some observations:
My Miss requires quite a bit of "Down" trim to fly straight and level.... Is this a sign she is a bit tail heavy?
1) Retracts are indeed JUNK!
The struts are not the factory ones, I already replaced with the larger diameter struts..but the mechanism itself is junk!
Already I had 1 of the small metal plates inside where you adjust the mechanism at down lock, just plain VANISH!
2) The screws that hold the Cowling on to the fuse KEEP BACKING OUT..and I need a better solution than the 4 (2-56??) wood screws H9 tells you to use!
3) Lasty, there are 2 Balsa "Fillets" on the main fuse. that help blend into the wing.
Both sides delaminated from the main Fuse..and need to be re-glued.
As far as flying, she is a DOLL in the air!
Flies like a Pattern plane!
Does anyone know of a good set of retracts to replace these stock ones with???
I want to keep mechanical gear...and was looking at Dave Brown, and Robart 609HD's
I would prefer something "Drop In"..but TOUGH!!!!
At this point, she's grounded until I get a heavy Duty set of retracts on her!
Thanks
Larry

Question - I really like this airplane but all of the reviews and pictures show the plane with a w 4 stroke. I would rather run a 90 sized 2 stroke but the inverted design pitts muffler looks very bulky behind the cylinder head. How much space is there between the cylider head and the firewall. The pitts muffler that I see on slimlineproducts.com looks to need a good 3 inches of clearance between the head and the wall. If the motor is snug to the firewall like my other planes, then no way. If so, then how do you run a 2 stroke on this plane. This airplane will be meant to satisfy my need for speed - only. That's the purpose for the 91 SX. Thanks

Ok....No one has replied directly to my questions..and I have been feverishly trying to find some answers!
tman0258..I will take a measurement for you as soon as I can get the cowling off my girl...
what dimension would you prefer?? as all engines are not shaped alike......
How about a measurement from the firewall to the end of the engine mount (the one that comes with the MA)??
that way you can know exactly what you have to work with.
I can also give you any other that you can think of..just let me know what you need!
SO...anyway..after scouring the Internet!!!!!!
First..as to ballance....My Fault!!!.....I have been trying to fly a warbird like a sport plane!
My fault..and YES she will want to climb like a banshee...and she will want to land with some power..not GLIDE like my other planes...
Second....the cowling screws backing out......
Drill the holes in the fuse large enough to let you insert a small piece of control rod and CA that into the enlarged holes.
Screw the cowl screws into the hole in the pushrod....it will act as a "Lag" or "Toggle" and solve the backing out problem! WOOHOO!!!! (servo screws will work best for this since they have a "Washer" Built in!!!
Third....
Yes the retracts are JUNK!!!!!
and the best mechanical retract that money can buy for this bird is at:
http://www.franktiano.com/NEWPROD.htm
And Fourth...after close scrutiny..the balsa "Fillets" that blend the fuse into the wing were glued too "HIGH" at the factory...
As the wing was tightened...it put pressure on those fillets BEFORE the wing was completely seated in the saddle of the fuse!!!
A little 5 Min Epoxy, and some extra care where they are positioned..and it's fixed...
This re-positioning will mean that the MonoKote in that area will need re-shrinking as it's new position is found!.
I will let you all know how everything works out!
Larry
P.S the YS 110...will need a Graupner 14X7 3-blade prop in order to load properly...a MA 14x7 3-blade does NOT bite enough air to keep from over speeding the engine!

I have a Super Tigre 90 2 stroke on my MA. Have a Slimline "sidemount" muffler for the inverted engine. I put 6-32 (4) Dubro inserts into the sides of the firewall and and used machine screws with loctite blue on the threads. This lets you remove the cowl as many times as you need without any problems. The climbing problem seems to be a trait. The more power you put to it, the more it wants to climb. I just trim it for the throttle setting I like and leave it be.

twofast, that's a dummy antenna that gets mounted behing the canopy. You can see it in the Title picture of the review:

MinnFlyer,
I'm getting ready to bend my 3/16" retract wire and I was wondering how you normally bend yours. Do you heat it up? Do you just put it into a vice and pull and bang on it with a hammer?
Thanks!

The dummy antenna behind the canopy and the dummy radio gear behind the pilots seat are left over from the Marie WWII fighter version. Of course all the WWII radio stuff has been stripped out of the real Miss America, so It's more scale without it.
