Here is the link to the struts.
[link=http://www.centralhobbies.com/miscellaneous/titstruts.html]http://www.centralhobbies.com/miscellaneous/titstruts.html[/link]
I haven't drilled the screw holes for the cowl. I'm cutting the opening for the engine and Keleo exhaust via measurements and posterboard right now. Once I get the cowl on I'll deal with the screws. Thanks for the advice! I'll look into both of those solutions.
Edit: Looks like the word filter is blocking out part of the URL. it is centralhobbies.com/miscellaneous/T%I%T struts.html (take out the spaces and remove the % sign)

Any thoughts on how well an OS 1.20 pumped four stroke would work with this plane? The engine is pretty plump at almost 35.3 ounces!! That's about a pound more than the saito 100. Just wondering where all your planes are balancing out. If they are tail heavy, then maybe this engine will be fine.

What did you do to secure your battery back there? I saw in the review how you secured your receiver - and saw the line running to the battery but I'm still a newb and looking for suggestions on placing the battery that far back.

Still no luck finding a new retract...
I bought 2 sets of Robart # 609HD retracts..but it's going to take some fancy dremel work to make them fit...
Before I start making sawdust I need to exhaust my options!
Horizon can't help..and says that they "MAY" have more retracts by the end of MAY!
Way to long to keep the bird grounded!
This should NOT be this big of a problem!

Shakes. I add a strip of velcro to all of my receivers and battery packs. Put one side of the velcro on one and the other side on the other (IE, velcro loops on Battery and Hooks on Rx) that way, every time you build a new plane, you just cut a new piece of velcro and glue one side to where the Rx is going and the other to where the battery is going (Don't get them mixed up
)
My battery is velcro'd in place inside the dummy air scoop.

Thanks Minn, just to clarify - the velcro is glued to the battery and a piece is glued to the bottom of the plane back near the airscoop?
Also, what about foam - do you use any?

Mike,
Pm me with your address when you get a minute. Kelvin just shipped my YS 110 back. The updated parts for your Mustang Keleo exhaust are in the package. I'll forward them on to you when it arrives. We had seafood last night again

I bought the GP 60 sized retracts, they are the same as the H9. I already replaced one on my AT-6 and AT-6 has same retracts than MA.
IOnly the color (purple i) is different (and the flat spot which can be on the other side on one retract).
They are exactly similar to the H9. You might have to buy longer wheel axles (provided ones are limit in size- still works)

I am sure this is a very stupid question -
What did you guys use to glue in your pilot and radio gear inside the canopy? Manual states shoe goo or similar adhesive. Will CA work?

CA will work for the seat and radio, but drill a hole in the cockpit floor and in the bottom of the pilot and run a dowel through both. Pilots have a way of breaking loose if they're not pegged down
PS aside from CAing the seat to the cockpit floor, CA it to the back of the pilot too

Thanks for the link..I ordered 2 to try them out.
Still holding out hope that a set of Frank Tiano's will be soon available!
I was about to start hacking the wing to make the Robarts fit..but now I'll wait.
It's going to be 2 weeks before I can go fly anyway...other obligations and work...YUK!

I checked with Frank Tiano Enterprises about those retracts a few weeks ago. They said they weren't sure if they would ever have any more. They didn't get enough orders to cover the cost of the manufacturing after the manufacturer raised the prices.

yep, they told me too they sold few items and can't order for so small quantities...forget about these retracts!!
for the pilots, the best thing for me (and should be the same for you all) is using expansing filler in can, let it dry, sand it, and glue it with epoxy...works great and weight is close to 0g . No hole in the fuse.

The price in the UK???? £300 ukp (that's about 560-570 us dollars to you lot)
I was also looking at a Hangar 9 Twist, $99 in the US i believe, the price here???? 115ukp (around $220 us)
If this P51 was the equivalent of $209 over here, I'd have one in a flash

FTE Gear Update.
I spoke with Frank yesterday 4/30 at Top Gun and he said the gear were being fabricated as we speak. He had to order 200 sets so lets help him out when they come in. I told him 1 set was headed to Jacksonville, so 199 to go boys. He didn't say when they would be in.
Top Gun btw was WELL WORTH the 3 hour drive.

I agree.....
I may take 2 sets myself for being such a pain in the butt about getting a set!
Maybe When they start shipping, someone should let the guys in the warbird forum hear about them.

The dummy antenna behind the canopy and the dummy radio gear behind the pilots seat are left over from the Marie WWII fighter version. Of course all the WWII radio stuff has been stripped out of the real Miss America, so It's more scale without it.

It depends on which picture you're looking at.
The Miss "A" has gone through a few changes in her lifetime. Some pics show no antenna, and some show a short antenna that slants toward the rear.
None of the pictures that I have seen show the antenna that comes with he ARF.

The one I have as my desktop show's it coming around a pylon in 2002 at Reno, its got the stubby white antenna thats pointing aft that is mounted right at the front of the fin.
Your right Mike, its nowhere near the one that comes with it. I got mine already built (a mistake in retrospect) and the guy didn't bother with it.

Well...I can confirm that the great planes retracts mentioned above are indeed the same ones that come with the H9 Miss A.
Made off of the same tooling..same dimensions...and only the following are different.
1) Color... the H9 are black the GP are dark purple.
2) The H9 have the brass bushing that holds the setscrew for the strut tapped on BOTH SIDES..the GP is drilled on both but tapped only on one (easy to fix)
3) The H9 has the new setscrew and metal plate to adjust as they become loose from use..the GP do not (another easy fix)
4) The H9 has a crome colored activation rod..the GP is black (Who cares?)
Soooooo...with that in mind....If you need to replace a retract...and don't want to wait for the end of MAY to get a set from Horizon..buy the GP and mod them ..or use them as is....
Oh..and let me clarify something on the tower hobbies page....ordering a qty of 1 for 29 bucks means you get a SET OF TWO....
I didn't know that ..and ordered 2 and now have 2 sets...Same thing with the Robart 609HD's....a QTY of 1 is for a pair.
I wish they would say EA for each...when it really is EACH...and PR for when they come as PAIRS!
Lastly...I need to know what kind of GLUE to use to replace my Wheel wells.
Taking off the old ones showed that the factory used some kind of "Rubberized" orange/yellow glue.
They came off cleanly, and did not mess up the Monokote...I need to use something similar...
I don't want to use CA since if the wells get damaged again, I will NOT be able to save the Mono as easily.
Thanks
Larry
