Welcome Brian,
I'm glad to see you finally have your own forum. This would be a great place for people to voice their opinions and help each other with solutions, by asking their questions here as well as talking with you directly.
By the way, I'll be contacting you soon in reference to one of your 3D planes. I believe if I am flying one of your planes at our local field the guys will love it. We have a growing interest in 3D from our young members as well as our more experienced group.
Talk with you soon,
Ken Thompson

Brian, glad to see Ultra bringing on a site just for their planes!!!
I have a question about the Quest. I built mine with a Saito 100, with everything in its stock location.... Then I put 14 oz of lead in the nose to make it balance. The all up waight (dry) came out to 10lbs on the nose. This is 1.5 lbs over the stated projected weight range. Is this normal? is 10 lbs ok? seems rather heavy on the gear, as they bow out a little under its own weight.
I know there are people move the tank back under the canopy, but that really works with a pumped engine (YS). A Perry pump won't work very well with a four stroke engine. (unless someone has figured out a way to make them work on the crankcase vent)
even if I move the tank and battery around and lose most or all of the lead, it still is overweight according to the book.
Any thoughts or ideas on this?
Thanks
CC

I got a 'Katana Xtreme", 75" WS, from them a little over a week ago...I ordered the kit before Thanksgiving, and got it Tuesday, Nov 28....There was no manual or decals with it...I called them and they said they would ship those items to me..Well they shipped them last Tuesday, they said, and I haven't gotten them yet.. been 8 days now....I called to ask them if they would give me the shipping number, and they mention that they would do that and send me a e-mail, with the shipping number..Well no e-mail yet (UPS outfit)... installed the servos into the stab, only to find out I screwed it up..now I'll probably need a new stab and matching elevators...Will wait one more day,and then the S#*% will hit the fan...I think I've been patient enough..great service ,huh....nuff said...

As indicated in your post, the manual and graphics were sent to you last Tuesday. I spoke to you yesterday afternoon and I DID send you an email with the tracking number and explanation. You never asked any questions regarding the build in any of your calls, I would have certainly would have talked you through all the processes.
Most may not realize, we write all the instruction manuals here and we are now cutting and supply all the vinyl graphics for these planes as well.
Jimmy, give me a call today. 609-714-0040

Hi Brian. I maidened my 3D Buddy Katana today. I'm just getting into 3D and this little plane seems to be the ticket. I'm using an Esskay 400XT Brushless with 18Amp ESC: Berg 7 ch receiver: TP 9Gram servos and 1000MAH 15C 3S1P LiPo. I was surprised at the speed and response of this bird. The best part is bringing it back in one piece ( Even with a less than perfect landing on the wheels, Had to land down wind on rough grass). The instructions were great and it went together fast. The only negitive is the main wing is a bear to get off for storage. But because it is a small plane, I'll just leave it on.
Thanks for a great product!
Tony

Brian,
I have been trying to get ahold of you for the last several days. I have left 2 messages asking you to call my builder. It seems they have a problem with the right stablizer and elevator on my new Yak.
The number is 316-941-4540.

I did receive your messages and I spoke with your builder(s) today. Curry and George I believe their names were. You can contact them for confirmation. The part(s) they feel they are having problems with are being sent back for me to inspect and replace. They are supposed to contact me ASAP with the package dimensions for the electronic call tag I will be issuing.
In the future, you can reach us after-hours by email until 11pm Eastern time. [email protected]
Please contact me with any additional questions.

Hey Brian,
Do you know when you are going to get more of the Katana 50 planes? I have a OS 70 looking for a home. I always wanted a Katana and the Katana 50 is what I am looking for.
Thank you

I have an ultra rc quest 90 g2, with an Saito 91 in the nose.
Does it seem resonable to require 21 ounces of weight to get the cg to 7 1/2 inches?
The problem is besides that the cg now being at 9 1/2 it makes the aircraft"bolloon"(climb) when the throttle is cut .This is when being flown by an accomplished 3 d pilot, not I.
Now it is possible the angle of incidence is incorrect on the horizontal stab. But that is a factory set item.
Any "takers"?

Did you ever get an answer to your post? I've got the same problem. @21 oz s needed with a Saito 91 in the nose.
This company is the biggest piece of crap on the web ....he's got even worse quality than Horizon's products.
After reading posts from guys who bought products from this company I'm amazed at what they put up with from this guy.
From now on I'll always reseach products on the RCuniverse site prior to ordering from a new company any expensive or critical items.
Let the buyer beware!

mgreenberg,
I have one of the Quest G2 which I have been flying for over a year. It is a great flying plane, and excellent quality. I have a YS 1.10 with no additional weight to acheive the proper CG. The answers to all your questions can be easily found in this thread regarding the "QUEST"
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_25...ra%2Drc/tm.htm
Have you called Ultra-RC and spoken to them? I do speak to them and the service has always been very good.

Thanks for the reply.
I notice no one from the "factory support" replyed,or replyes very much to questions.
Check out YS or AEROWORKS.Send them a question and see how fast you get a response.
I guess we have a difference of opinion here ,but that's ok.
21 ozs in the nose ..even with a ys 110..which you would need to have a tuned pipe to get that weight in there, and then it would not be fully forward. That's called poor design,or poor instructions.
Customer service?.. if you read the threads Brian is extremely poor with customer service,he's always on the defensive with customers..
The aircraft are a good design but the excecution, quality of construction, instructions, customer service, etc is very poor.
Luckily your experiance has been better, but it doesn't seem typical according to the threads and my experiance with Brian.
He's a very poor businessman, in my opinion, and I'vew told him so to his "face".
Good flying..I'll stick with Aeroworks..for now

Well, you are entitled to your own opinion, but based on your comments, I can read into the reason(s) why no response.
Any way, for what it is worth, you don't need the 21 ounces of weight you have in the nose. Read through the other thread. The answers are all there. I don't have any extra weight in mine. 8 1/4 to 8 1/2 in. CG range will give you a hands off neutral flying plane. Further back will provide you with a more radical 3D set-up. If you go through the set-up process correctly, and trim the plane for hands off flight, you will see no need for the added weight.
Mine built very well, and I always received very good service. But I follow a simple rule in life....treat those as you would like to be treated. Always works for me.
Good luck. If you would like and set-up advice, PM me and I will tell you my complete set-up. This plane flies great. If they were in stock, I would buy another as a back-up right now.

THANKS FOR THE INFO.
8 1/4 to 8 1/2 s/b less than 21 ozs.maybe 16. Still seems far back but as long a sit cures the bolloonng problem, the plane does fly well.
Suggest you walk in another man's shoes before you make a judgement call..My attitude is the culmination of Brian's poor service, first..not the other way around!
Please refer to the many posts dealing with this subject,to confirm.
Again, happy to see at least one person didn't get screwed by Brain.
