MA,
I'm in the process of putting together a Dragon Lady. Having got to the engine mounting stage, the manual recommends using the firewall spacer for engine sizes <.91, but not using the spacer for engines 1.08 -1.20. I intend putting a Saito 100 in this plane. Will I need the spacer?
Thanks

I put a Magnum 120/4 in mine, with no spacer, although I used the Magnum motor mount #279950 / 41306, and still had some room to spare.
Let me know how it works out.

Because of the fact you are mounting a medium case engine in the plane, no, you will may need to use the spacer in your plane. That said, due to the light weight of the engine you are using, you may want to use the spacer. And some lead. I got mine to balance perfectly with a Saito 1.20 in it and did not use the spacer. I think that the 1.00 will be a good engine for you, but take your time and ensure it balances correctly. If you get it nose heavy it tracks very well but bounces badly on landing, tail heavy it responds well but floats really bad when you go to land and still bounces badly. When it is right your landings will tell you.

The plans call for offsetting the vertical thrust line and having the horizontal thrust line 3 3/4 inches measured from the bottom. Did you use these measurements or did you position the vertical thrust line center of the fuse and the horizontal thrust line center of the fuel tank outlet?

When I built mine, I was considering building a set of floats for it so I put a Saito 125GK in mine with no spacer. The motor had more than enough power for the plane. Unfortunately, the plane didn't survive the maiden flight so Iwas never able to fly it off the water. Transmitter set up error on my part, i.e. pure stuidity...[:@]

I am currently in the process of changing over from a Magnum 91 2-stroke
motor to a Saito 100 in my Dragon Lady, I used the Hanger 9 metal engine
mount and the spacer with my installation but I haven't re-balanced the plane
as of yet.

All of you guys out there with Dragon Lady's don't crash them as
they are discontinued and will not be imported any more. Sad to
get that info from Hobby People's customer service people as it is
such a great airplane.
