VectorFlight's Next Plane Poll

I emailed VectorFlight awhile back to throw out a couple suggestions I had for Planes if they ever decided to expand their line. I think one of my suggestions was that a VectorFlight Piper Cub would be neat, and I think I also suggested that bringing back the CAP they used to sell would be great, and I would be first in line to get one. I was just curious to what others would recommend for VectorFlights next Great Airplane? I think my recommendation will be a .60 size Piper Cub again. There Planes right now are Targeted pretty much to one crowd, and that is the Sport Aerobatics crowd. It would be neat in my opinion to see them offer a Plane or two to the Laid Back Sunday Flyer. What would be your Suggestion?

How about a fast prop/jet plane like the Cougar. With the methods they utilize to construct wings and the fully sheeted fuselage, they would be able to easily make a plane that can withstand high speeds.
I also place my vote for a Piper Cub. Or perhaps a Cessna 172/182.
Just my .02 worth.

My vote goes for an ultimate biplane that would handle a 60-90 size 2 stroke engine. The only real one out there is the Goldberg and it is way over priced. I think that Vectorflight could build a really nice one and they would sell a ton of them. They would not be able to keep them in stock and would sell out as fast as they could build them. IF it was build anything like the edge or extra I would be the first in line to place an order for one. I am already going to get one of the edge's and would like to see a cap also.

If you are looking for suggestions for a high wing, the cub has been done to death. I'd rather see a decathlon or a cessna. Though an acrobatic bipe with their great wings would be tempting!

Is there some reason you think Vector Flight is prepared to increase their line? My impression is, they are selling all they can make of the existing line, and can't keep up. I can't imagine how they would keep up if they offered, say, an Ultimate, or a Yak.
Just wondering,

Your point is sharp Scar, but when the demand goes beyond what they believe they can handle without losing customers, they will surely find a better way to go. A good business like thiers is bound to grow.
As for the question at hand, I think the decathalon or cessna would be great additions, keeping in line with thier semi-scale models.

I have spoken with them as well, they are very good at returning mail.
I was begging them to start a run of quarter scale, they are kicking it around but there are no solid plans as of yet.
If they put together a Cap I will buy it as fast as they can get it to me!

Alot of folk just coming off their Trainer are always wanting to know about a good second airplane. Usually it seems that 50% of the responses come back and recommend the Sig 4*, or in my case I always recommend the Great Planes Super Sportster, but anyway there is usually a small handful of Aircraft mentioned in post like these, and it is the same Planes mentioned over and over with good reason. Now I would NOT suggest for VectorFlight to copy any of these Planes by any means, but a good stable aerobatic low wing VectorFlight aircraft that would appeal to those just comming off their Trainer would be neat. You read a few post now and again about somebody who has just come off his Trainer going right for the VF Edge or Extra because of all the good things they have read about them. Not all, but most of these Planes are going to end up firewood due to the fact that these are not good second airplanes, and just like 90% of us, it is always the airplanes fault when things go bad, and nobody ever likes to just say that they couldn't handle it, or just lost control. So a good low wing Plane designed with ametuer pilot in mind "would be a good thing" as Martha would say.

That's a great idea ckangaroo70. A mid level, semi-scale offering with the quality that Vectorflight provides would be a gift to the masses of people seeking something other than the lines of the throngs of 4*'s and SS's out there already. Props to ya for that idea.

Please Vector Flight!! All I want for Christmas is for you guys NOT TO DO A CUB, P-51, ANY HIGH WING TRAINER,
OR ANY THING ELSE THAT HAS BEEN MODELED TO DEATH!!!.
I can't believe someone actually suggested that VF do a Cub, Jeez, isn't there 6 bazillion companies to choose from if you want a Cub?
Why not do something Canadian, or Brazilian, or Mongolian, anything other than the same old jazz that
every other company does.
Flame me if you want but I for one would like a KI-61 Tony, or a Mooney, or something that IS DIFFERENT.

Today is my Birthday, so I thought maybe my wife would bring me home a nice Plane to unwrap. Turns out she spent all my money on my kids for Christmas! I have two little girls, so what are the odds that either one asked Santa for a new H9 Ultimate?....................probally not very good odds would be my guess. Well, you gotta love em anyway!
P.S I am really a nice guy, and not a smart *****. So disregard the first part of my post.

I like the idea of a Mooney too. Always was a favorite of mine in full scale. Another rarely modeled civilian plane would be the Luscombe. Can you imagine one of those in a metallic covering? Hmmm....this is fun. Other planes I never see modeled (except maybe by scratch-builders) are:
Civilian: Grumman Tiger
Legend (kitplane)
Ercoupe
TBM 700
Pilatus PC-12
Mitsubishi MU-2 (OK that would be a tough one to fly I'm guessing)
Spirit of St. Louis (a nice big one I mean...not some park flyer)
Lockheed Vega (or Orion)
Northrop Alpha
Military: C-46
Brewster Buffalo
KI-61 Tony (agree with Bunstead on that one)
Any of the GulfHawk planes (the ones I'm thinking of were originally miltary designs, right?)
Oooo! Oooo! That Lockheed Q-Star would be cool (either version)
OK....I'm deep into "wishful thinking mode" now.

I would luuuhhhhvvv to se an Ultimate designed around the Saito 100, with the YS 110 as the super-power option. VF could pull it off with their current style. Their sheeted wings and built up fuse would work great in a 55-57" Ulty!
The Dave Patrick Ultimate has the 120 size down pat, but they rarely have any in stock and I bet VF could do it for way less than $400!

My opinion is that they should offer the Monster Pits (Pits 12). Slightly different since it has the radial engine and is designed for unlimited aerobatics. There is a number of Pits out there but I have yet to see the Monster version. I would get one in a heartbeat if they could make one in the 90-120 4S range.

I already have their Edge 540, and their 58" Extra 300S They are my two favorite planes. I've toyed with the idea of getting into something gasoline powered. Perhaps a 1/4 scale something would be nice. Vector Flight is the nicest company I have ever delt with. I just recently got a "Merry Christmas" e-mail from Aamed. They really care about their customers.

Same planes, just bigger...... Probably in the 74-84" wingspan and over 12 pounds.
As for a new plane, what about a Glassair or something along those lines but bigger than 60" wingspan.......
peace

I wish they had other color schemes to choose from. I wouldn't mind seeing a 60/90 super chipmunk. There aren't too many of them to choose from in the arf world.
