Default Seagull Zero Pictures!

Just completed my Seagull Zero. Very nice ARF for the money '$120.00". I moved the firewall back an inch and installed a OS61 SF. Had to mount two 8 oz. fishing sinkers to the engine mount to balance it out to the recomended CG. Does anyone have any experiences with this ARF?

I have seen it fly and it was very hard to handle with a tail heavy condition. Make sure your cg is correct and enjoy it. My friend has one he uses to run hot laps around the field and its a pretty good value. If it had retracts id consider one for a fun fly type plane as well.

good luck

Thanks for the reply Matt. I set the CG at the wing tips per the instructions. Does anyone know what the SG should be at the fuselage?

Hi Motoracer, I have one of these. It looked really good. I had a K&B .40 in it, but it was tailheavy. With a Heavy Hub and 2 Heavy Hub nuts, it was still tailheavy. It flew but was squirrley. I put a Super Tigre .51, Heavy Hub and 7 1/2 oz. of Prather lead strips bolted to the top front of the engine mount. The battery was in the compartment just behind the mount. It didn't fit on the bottom, so I put it in the top. Finally it balanced on the 80 cm line. I took it up. It flew better, but my muffler loosened and caused a dead stick situation. I was a little too high, so I made a circle before going to the downwind leg, as I went to level it, it literally capsized, and DRILLED into the ground. I could not save it. I am guessing that all this extra weight above the thrust line did this. I will rebuild it , but next time I will glue the weights to the inside of the cowl on the BOTTOM. I will also use a flat battery pack that I can put UNDER the tank. It would cost me $55 to send it back to Horizon for them to MAYBE replace it. The cowl cracked, the engine mount broke, and worst of all, my favorite Perry carb was smashed by the cowl. It hit the mud, and somehow the prop survived! The front formers and a wing saddle were smashed. Four inches of wingtip came off, but the fuselage retained it's shape. It will fly again!! [X(][][:@]

a friend of mine have this airplane...
it is awesome in the air, but a little difficult to handle on the ground.
But when the plane is in the air, then it flies like a dream!
Good Luck with this nice airplane!

Hi, I just flew mine for the first time today with a super tiger 61 and WOW ! ! What fun, I have to say the groung handling is the worst of any of the tail draggers that I have flown. But in the air, it is now one of my favorite planes ! I am going to head out now and see if I can figure out how to make the tailwheel better. I think thats the cause of the bad ground handling.

I have one with a os 70 four stroke on it. Still took a little weight to balance it but it flies like it was on a race track. Have to use half throttle or it is to fast. Sure is a sweet flying plane though. Looks good in the air.
