As I get closer to the completion of assembling this ARF, I'm thinking I'm going to come in right at 4 lbs without the engine. If I put the OS 46FX in it, I'll be right at 5 lbs, perhaps a hair over. When I ran my H9 Twist with this engine, I could hover it between 3/4 and full throttle swinging a 12.25x3.75 APC. Grant it, that leaves almost nothing in reserve to get out of trouble, but it was possible. That plane weight in at 5lb 8oz. I'm seriously considering running the 46FX in this plane and saving the Saito 82 that I bought for it for another plane.
I guess I can try both, then wait until I make a final decision before cutting the cowl. I have other planes to fly 3D with, so I didn't plan on doing much with this one other than some scale-like flying. I'm sure the 46 would be fine for that. I can't decide what to do. Maybe I have to try both. Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks,
Gary

Has Anyone considered running one of these with a .60 size engine? I have a couple of 60s, a webra, and a K&B that I would like to put to good use.

Let us know how that 50 works out. Mine weighed in at 5lb 1oz dry RTF (46FX not installed, but on the scale with the plane. I've got the Saito FA82 on standby in the event the 46 doesn't cut it. It will be an easy conversion similar to when I did the same thing to my Twister recently. I might get it in the air this weekend, weather permitting. Beautiful all week then a good chance of rain during the weekend.

Got mine from
http://www.airborne-models.com/
I believe they are the US distributor. It's the 46S now due to Castrol stopping them from using their logo.

Guys, im so happy to see you here. i bought this wm cap 232 last month and until now i still have this question on my mind about the engine. i have a thunder tiger pro 46. but i want it to have this unlimited vertical climb thats why im planing to put an os 55fx instead of this tt pro.now my question is wouldn't i be having a problem in centering the spiner to the cowl? because there are blind nuts installed already i might be driling again. or wouldn't i be getting problems in the weight. or i might have a prop strike for longer props. please advise, i dont want to comint any mistakes on this.

The TT46 is already mounted, right? All engines that are bolted to a motor mount will have their prop shafts aligned equally. If the mounting holes for the two engines are too different to use the existing holes in the motor mount, then simply get another identical motor mount. Set the new engine on the new mount to have the drive washer the same distance to the firewall, and the spinner will be exactly where it was with the tt46.
If you're going to use an OS55AX, you're going to have more power. About 20% more.

Hello,..
I just bought this plane and love it already. I am just half way thorugh the building process and I am puting a OS .46 FXI in it in a day or so. I was wondering if I could put in a bigger engine such as an OS 55 or even an OS 60 FX which I may be buying soon. The local hobby shop said that puting in the OS 60 FX would over power the plane and possibly cause problems in flight because of its weight and speed for this type of plane. I realy want this plane to scream through the air but don't want to crash it because of a bigger engine. This is my first time building a plane. Should I stick to the OS 46 FXI ? Can anyone give me some advice on this. Thanks !!

More is better , up to a point, any of ' 46 sized' crankcase type would be fine. Trouble with 60 sized is the case is larger and heavier. Engines like 46, 50, 53, 56 , would help
I had a couple of these, you will notice a differance with a tapered airfoil, there a little more unforgiving when you get to the edge of the flight envelope. More areobatic. But they do land and take off nice. Just watch low speed cross wind stuff, some thing where one wing stops flying before the other (snap)

Hello,
I just purchased the cap 232 46r and have heard nothing but good things about this plane. I am almost done with building it. Her maiden flight should be this coming weekend. I am puting in an OS MAX 46 FXI,...which they tell me should be plenty of power for this plane. Can anyone tell me anything about the landing gear. I heard something about the wheel covers coming off or something like that. Is so,..is there any way to reinforce or fix the problem ? Thanks !!Your input is appreciated !!<input type="hidden" id="gwProxy"><!Session data></input><input type="hidden" id="jsProxy" onclick="jsCall();" /><div id="refHTML"></div>

the wheel pants are a type of ABS that really takes a beating, mine were fine, flying off of grass. the OS will go about 15-20 feet and than go UP, not total crazy 3D up , but really confindant about it
