No! This is a re-covered ARF! Everywhere you see red on the ARF, my son replaced it with yellow. The rest is the same..... Saito 120 with an APC 16-6. JR 10X with JR Sport 125MG servos. Flies great. Snaps really low to the ground and is very predictable. This thing knife-edges low and slow or wide open....... Makes no difference. I'm going to fly it for a while longer and probably put it up for sale later this summer. Have another toy to take its place but I'm still working on it......... Surprise! BTW: I have to thank Kyle for my covering job on this one...... Pretty good for a 17 year old! One other thing: I cut off the bottom third of the firewall side to side. I then angled a piece of lite-ply at a 45 degree angle so that the muffler would angle straight back. This points the muffler back and down and the plane stays fairly clean.

A Saito 120 !!!!!! No wonder you questioned me putting a TS 52 in mine. I have a 120 in my Venus II and it weighs 4 lbs. less than my BN120. Don't you know your are supposed to take the manufactures advice and at least double it

I thought long and hard about it but my particular kit was just really light! This thing flies like a darn foamy..... It' just under 9 pounds. Most of them aren't that light and I didn't feel like beefing up "air!" I'd be dead serious saying that this thing would probably blow apart with a 180. I have built three of them and they were all over 10 1/2 to 11 pounds. You must have gotten one with some dense wood that could take the weight of those bigger motors. We used a MVVS 26 gasser a Saito 150 and a Saito 180 on the others. The one with the 180 got a Saito 220 to break in for a while and it was just plain insane...........

Terry there has to be something wrong with your scales. Mine weighs over 9 lbs. with no engine. I can hardly believe that light wood would make a 3 lb. difference.
I'm not complaining, mine with the Brison weighs 13 lbs. and flies as light as a feather. Somewhere in one of these forums I read about some guy who had to add 2 lbs. of lead to his because he said it was "too light". Go figure.

Well guy's, I had a frustrating day to say the least. I spent all week getting this thing ready to fly only to crash!
I managed to get four short flights this morning I say short because my new OS 1.60 sure is thirsty. I got about 5 min each flight and dead sticked each time.
What a great plane! KE was outstanding with only very slight coupling, very smooth flying, floats in for landing, mine weighs 10lbs dry and the 1.60 , even though it's still breaking in has gobs of power.
After my last flight I flew another plane and when I attempted my 5th flight with the BN 120 I forgot to change models on my radio! What a dufus! I cart wheeled on the runway. But not to much damage, it ripped the wing out of the saddle and cracked the fuse slightly, it's an easy fix. It will give me a chance to install a bigger tank.
Overall I was very happy with it's performance and I'm looking forward to getting her back in the air to test the rest of her capabilities out.

I'm not kiddin' ya! I just dragged out some electronic scales of mine and the neighbor's electronic fish scales........ 8 pounds 15 1/2 ounces on the dot on both of them! I can remember taking that fuse out of the box when I first got it and thinking that the covering weighed more than the bare fuse. This is why a 120 makes it go like a ballistic missile and I don't dare go bigger or heavier with the motor.

I just got in from a totally still, sunshiny afternoon at the field putting on the maiden flight of my new Hanger 9 33% Cap 232. (I bought it five years ago next month.... Everything is brand new...... It flew like a dream!) The real ticker of it all is that I heard they are going to re-release this bird in the near future. I got a brand new one with three great flights on it now and this will be like I got the first of a new kit before anyone else. WOOOOOHOOOOO!!

I was able to stuff a 20 oz. Dubro tank in mine which gives me a full 10 mins. with a Saito 270. That same tank would give me 12 mins. on an OS 160 I used to have.
I really don't know why mine is so heavy. A Brison 2.4 is only about 1 lb. heavier that an OS 160 and a Saito 120 but my weight comes out over 3 lbs. more than you guys [

I just got one of these ARF's off of ebay for a very good price and was thinking about putting a YS 140 sport in it. Has anyone used this motor in the plane before and with what results?

I have a YS 140 & as you can see I also have a BN120 - but NOT together. I thought about putting the 140 in the BN ( it would be it's 5th engine ) but never have. IMHO it would be IDEAL for the BN. If the BN is as light as Terry's it has to be all good.

i have mine together now with a ys 140 and i just have not flown it yet maybe this weekend if the weather is right and ill let you know,,by the way it is really nose heavy with the ys 140 up front

Does anyone have any tips on mounting the supplied contril horns. The instructions say to use the provided sheet metal screws and nuts, but I only have 4 of them and the rest are small wood screws. The 4 sheet metal screws do not seem to be long enough to mount the 2 rudder horns. Maybe someone could tell me how they mounted theirs. The supplied hardware just doesn't seem right to me.

marty, no i did not use that mount,i just flew it yesterday and im really impressed with the combo,still breaking the engine in but she runs great

The short wood screws are to mount the elevator horns (2) and the aileron horns. (2) The location of the horns are on each control surface where you can see a ply mounting plate under the covering. The rudder horns are mounted on both sides of the rudder and four (4) machine screws pass through and are retained by washers and nuts. The nuts should be Lock-tighted. Let me know what you find. All the screws and nuts should be located in a small plastic bag that contains the control horns.

I don't like plastic horns so I drilled the control surfaces thread the holes and use 6/32 bolts. I put a drop of CA on the threads and never, never have problems.
