Would you pay $400.00 for an Ultra stick .40 built stock out of the box?? With Os.46 engine, 7 futaba servos. Just add receiver and fly!!

Is it all brand new stuff, never run or flown, or is it a used plane/engine/etc someone wants to get rid of? If any of it's used, the price sounds high.
If it's all new, and you know who assembled it and trust their work; it depends which OS engine and which Futaba servos are included. Here are two extreme examples using 'standard' servos.
ARF 130 at Horizon
Servos 70 S3003, $10.99 each at Servocity
Engine 70 46LA at Tower Hobbies
Total 277
ARF 130 at Horizon
Servos 140 S3001, $19.99 each at Servocity
Engine 130 46FX at Tower Hobbies
Total 400
If everything's bottom of the scale, is it worth $123 (to you) for someone else to assemble it? If it's all at the top, you get the labor free

Even if it's new stuff, that's still too much. $130 for the plane. $110 for a .46 AX . 7 servos at $12 each. Doesn't add up to being worth $400 to me.

I'm gonna say no too..
Why not Buy your own plane.. Stick a larger engine on there (4 stroke maybe!) then some good quality non standard servo's.. then just use the stock Hardware (CA hinges are great)... The stock hardware that comes with the Ultra Sticks is off good quality.. So with all this you can (depending on engine mostly) come out spending less (2 stroke) or the same/slightly less (4 stroke) and still get better servo's..

The idea for this plane came from the fact there are people who do not have time to build an ARF. As for the servos we thought we would offer a better one. Add up the price of the items listed above and they come to almost $392.00. We are just trying to start a small business.

Jurjevib,
If the airplane shows well and the components are new, people will pay it. When I was spending time behind the counter at my LHS, there wasn't a day that went by, that someone didn't come in and want to have someone assemble their ARF. The store would sell all the components and then add $100 for the average trainer/sport model for assembly. I still get calls from people that I assembled airplanes for wanting me to "build" their airplanes.
The few ARF's that I have owned have always been stripped and recovered. I would take the airplane and hang it at the LHS to show the customers that they all don't have to look alike. I had to stop doing that because customers would want to buy my airplane and would offer outrageous prices to buy it ($300 over cost of components).
The folks answering you here a confident in their assembly and building skills. There are many folks out there who are not, and are more than willing to pay someone to do the work. Its sad but true. You need to get hooked up with your LHS and work together. I can tell you at the LHS I worked at, they really did not want to do assembly and would have prefered to to have an outside source take care of it.

I still wouldn't pay for someone to assemble an ARF... One reason alot of people get into this hobby is to build their own planes.. Assemble their own equipment.. in my opinion.. Sure maybe some newb will come and ask you to assemble his trainer.. But if he crashes it.. You guys aren't gonna repair it for him (or are you?) and if you do then he hasn't learned anything.. Which makes this hobby much more dangerous! Then if he fixes it himself he's gonna start building his own ARF's then kits... And when he's a wise old man he'll look back at his experiences and recomend to the world to build their own planes, that way they learn how they work.. And they don't have to rely on someone else to do everything for them.

I can totally relate to having someone build my planes. My free time is getting harder and harder to come by and I would rather fly. BUT I'm also kind of cheap. If it's winter I don't mind assembling my own ARF (not a kit). But in summer forget about it. I'm gonna fly.
The way this thread started it sounded like someone was looking to buy something and wanted feedback on if it was too much. When people re-sell stuff even new it goes for less than new. In fact it goes very cheap most of the time. But if you're building the plane for someone then that's a whole different situation IMO. Then you can bargain up front and agree on a price and make sure it's good for both parties.
Me, I'd like to start a small business flying other people's planes.....

Thats exactly why I don't do ARF assembly any more. I got overwhelmed trying to keep up with the demand and had no to time to build for myself.

When I said it was too much I thought it was for someone thinking they were getting a deal on a new but unflown model they wanted not a feeler for an experement. I guess there are people willing to pay others to build for them but I just don't buy the "I don't have time to build lines" If you don't have time to assembly a simple ARF how will you be able to find time to charge batteries, fly, make repairs, mantain your planes, and get ready to fly again.
