Default Which 3-D capable plane is good for a LA 40?

Anybody know of a good smaller size plane (ARF) that a OS LA 40 could power, with some authority that is. Does'nt have to be strictly 3-D. Maybe a sport/ fun-fly/ 3-D, if there is such a thing. Enjoy flying smaller planes, just not ready to go electric.

idk about that guys this engine is reliable. i bet you could hover "ok" with a modeltech twist. i liked my but they said it you might want a better engine like a 4* or a 46fx or even a evo

Tower Uproar 40, kit form or ARF. Flys great with the LA 40. It is light and 3D capable. Have seen one locally that is a screaming demon and hovers easily with good pull out. Ordered the ARF for myself after seeing this little gem perform. Best of all the ARF is $79.00 and the kit is $44.00.

Don't underestimate the LA 40, it is a good engine.

Try the Tower Hobbies UpRoar 40, its not exactly 3D but is one hell of a fun fly plane. I like the kit version, but they just recently made an ARF version that is said to be well built and a real value. Its on the small side for a 40 size plane and is not heavy at all, which is why the LA engine would work fine. P.S. Not every aircraft built needs the biggest engine you can find, thats why they dont put jet engines on Piper Cubs. Sometimes less is more. You dig!

You might get away with the Modeltech Magic, seen them fly with 40 sized OS FP but they have a mousse can and seen it pull out of a prop hang with ease. If its fun fly only then I believe that the Magic can be an option. Run it with a 11x5 prop max. Maybe a profile plane even ... something in the 4 lbs range.

The ModelTech .25-.32 Extra 300 would be a good choice as well. Got two of them. One with an FX.25 , the 2nd with a LA.25.
The .25LA is really a weak-stick on this plane and I see most guys either converting to brushless or slappin on a .40 to these little Extras. They seem to fly better with the added weight of a larger engine. Land better for sure.
I have an OS .40LA Natural that came on a SuperStar MkII trainer. The almost new motor is tweaked in and very reliable,,,,,but weak. I'm putting it on the 2nd 300 next week and giving it a try.

Wouldn't the Great Planes Dazzler .40 work for Pelham as well ?

I flew the new Mojo 40 ARF with stock servos and a LA 40 and it did well. It was the stock set up of a SuperStar select package. It had a APC 10-6 on it, however a APC 11-4 may have done better. Had power to hover and pull out and did most of the 3D tricks. Mojo 40 ARF may be your plane.
