Finally the time was right and the Maiden flight happened.
Yellow Aircraft/Funkey Sukhoi with a Saito 182 Twin, Mcdaniel on-board glow, APC 16-8 prop.
Lifted off without need for much rudder input-- plane is very quick. Had to reduce the LOW rates on ailerons further it liked to roll so much. I'm not sure I like the digital trims on the Futaba 8U, the trim tabs seem easier and quicker to use at least until I use these more. Anyway, it's back down in one piece and ready for another day soon.

8u stepped trim.
Stepping the trim tabs down to 1 is a good idea, but only do it AFTER you have the plane basically trimmed out.
If you are test flying a new plane on Step 1 and its way out of trim, it takes a lot of pushes to get it right. Leave it at 4 until you have it initially trimmed, then you can knock it down to 1 and fine trim it.
I was not thrilled at first with the digital trims, but have learned to really like them. You will get use to them, and I would bet, will actually prefer them after you get use to them.
Set up a Throttle kill switch, so you don't have to use the throttle trim to shut down the engine.
I hope to get the 60 sized yellow Sukoi this winter..
