You can get Zinger 4 blades. I am going to try the Zinger 15x6 on my Saito 1.25 after it is broken in better.

Gadzooks, I just saw this forum started in 05. Wish I caught it when I was assembling mine. Anyway, I got a Zenoah g20ei in mine w/3.7 Lipo@2300mah. Stock ign&muffler with no problems thus far. Running a 15x8 apc and looking for the right 4 blade for this engine and plane. Stock gear holding up, but prepared to replace if they start to fail. Balanced with only the batteries and flys awsome. Always get compliments@the field. All gas from here on out...
Warhawk00, out.

I did a quick scan of this thread and i didn't find the answer to my question.
Which three bladed prop are you guys using on this P-47 and Saito 100?
Thanks

Master Airscrew 15x7 3-Blade on 20% fuel. It won't be a blazing hot rod, but you will be amazed with the thrust. It gets off the ground quick, and I can pull gigantic loops with this thing. It climbs vertical so hard I keep thinking I better round out the loop before I stall, but it just keeps going up. I just switched to 30% fuel and it leaves an amazing smoke trail. Got a brief break in the wind the other day, pulled a loop, and there was a momentary smoke ring just hanging in the air for a couple seconds. Yeah, it was awesome.

How's about a master airscrew 14X9 or 14X7 3 blade
Would seem to get more speed this way ?
How are 3 blade props measured as compared to 2 blade props?
Thanks

I'm not real sharp on all the pitch and diameter stuff, I just like to get the biggest props I can, and the more blades the better. Don't get me wrong, my Jug is not slow. It has definitely scared me a couple of times how quickly it will move, but compared to my brothers H9 Corsair with the same engine and prop, it is a hair or two slower.

P.S. The only props I've used are wood, ABS, and Master Airscrews, but I can't say enough about how tough those MA's are. They're nearly indestructible. I have never once had to change out props due to nose overs.

The real issue is how do the 3blade props you can find work on the airplane. I've got an OS91FX on my P47 and it flies very, very good with a Master Airscrew 14x7(3). It flies as good with a couple of different 2bladers. I've got a 14x7(3) on my H9 Corsair and it's excellent too. But it's not really that 3blades are better than 2blades or that 2blades are better than 3. It's how good any prop that we can find for sale is on the engine that is on the airplane. I've running 3blades on about half my airplanes because the ones for sale are as good or better than others that fit and are for sale that happen to be 2bladers.

Hi All,

I've been following the thread with interest and have read every page..![sm=tongue_smile.gif]

I've been flying my model here in the UK for a few months now and really enjoy it's performance on an RCV91CD. The distinctive markings really stand out well with the sun on them.

I'm still having trouble stopping it though on calm days...always needing the fluffy stuff at the end of our grass strip to eventually stop it..! The star show pilot in our club (ex 7 time national champ...[8D]) even done the same.

The tickover is nice and slow but it just goes on forever. I'm thinking of widening the vertical of the undercarage legs to provide some discrete drag to see if that helps any. Shame as I really like the model but this problem is always there on finer days. I'm starting to fly other models instead of it now due to this.

I've been flying 25 years and have a trick or two to try but I just thought I'd air my findings....

Cheers......David M

Try moving your wheels so the leading edges are turned in a little bit. It has worked for me on other kits.
I've been flying this model since the begining off the season without any issues.

Will do I B Buck, thanks.

I land my other models without flaps ok, but this one just seems a real floater. A little breeze a few weeks ago and it would hold up nicely, land gently and stop quite quickly...

Finally got a vid uploaded. I was still pretty weak at the knees when this was shot, so not a whole lot of aerobatics, but I love how the camera picked up all the little puffs of smoke from the exhaust stream.

Engine is a Saito 100 with straight pipe exhaust. The video just doesn't do the sound any justice!

Good Day

I am using a 14-7 3 blade on my saito 100 burning 15% cool power and getting 9000 rpm at 3500ft.

Take care and keep her in the air...

Good Day

I am not sure what size 3 blade would work on a G20, usualy go with what the manufacturer recomends for a two blade then subtract an inch in diameter and add an inch in pitch for a starting point for a 3 blade.
Hope this helps

Take care and keep her in the air...

A friend of mine has an SPE 26 that turns a 17x6 at 7200RPM and weighs like 35oz. My Jug is a little bit tail heavy with the 20+oz Saito 100 and I've wanted a gasser for a while. It'd be my first gasser, so I have no idea where to start with it...but how much work would I have to put into my Jug to get that little gasser in it?

fWIW, the plane flies amazingly well. Landing gear is so-so, but what retracts aren't? I'd love to be able to put Robarts in it, but I've got 1 too many things on my "To Buy" list to justify spending that much on landing gear.

I have had amazing results my merely drilling out the retracts carefully and installing 3/16" struts that I bent myself. CURED THE WOBBLIES TOTALLY. I read somewhere on RCU that this worked so I tried it... have since done it to all of my H9 planes and now the retracts are solid, and work flawlessly. Just remember to use thread locker on the set screws! If you can afford a wire bender for around $30 or so(I think at Hobby Lobby), go this route. It made me happy to fly my Hanger 9 planes again!!!!!

Good idea! I still have the larger wires along with robart struts from the wreakage of my first H9 P47. Need to get with the program and get em in. If I turn sharp now, the gear bends under so bad the sides of the tires scuff off. I know, I know, don't turn sharp! I try not to but sometimes it goes by itself cause of those woobly legs.

I finally got mine in the air again this season. Rearranged all the internal stuff along with switching the fuel tank with the smoke oil tank (now have smaller fuel tank and more smoke!) Did not get to try the smoke out because I still have a bad radio glitch so will change out the receiver next.

Hope everyone else is enjoying theirs!

Nice videos and damn, that thing sounds sweet. I now wish I had gone the gas route. I planned on it, but changed my mind and went with the saito. Now with the Nitro crunch, I will be building gassers from here on out. Where do you get the BCMA engines I B Buck?? I really would like to stuff one of those into a bipe or another warbird when I get the extra funds.

I got it from BCMA engines. A few saturdays ago I went up with a friend who has a Hangar 9 P-51 60 size mustang, with the saito 100 in it. I totally blew his doors off. I'm running an APC 16/8 and the speed is unreal. I had some some footage of it ,but it won't upload. BCMA has good product and service. Adam is a great guy to do business with. Here is a link Tell him I B BUCK sent ya.

Has anyone tried the retracts from Lado Technologies? I recently busted the original retracts and I need a tougher replacement since I fly off a grass field.
