I agreee with Splais... Get those servos out of the tail, and move everything as far forward as you can. I try to do everything I can to avoid making the plane heavier.

Got mine up in the air today for the first flights. 2.4 Brisson in the nose. No lead to balance at 6". Put 5945's all around except for throttle. Using two of them on the elevator. Overkill I know, but got new ones cheap. Throttle servo mounted just "behind" the other servos on home made tray.
Second flight got a little interesting. Had to keep adding right aileron trim. Several times. On landing found a piece of the covering had tried to blow off. Tried to turn the left wing into a big windsail. Damn manufactuers just can't get anything right. Oops, that was the wing I had to do some shipping damage repair on. Guess I was the dum***** on that one.
Think it may be a keeper.

The servos are 1.6oz each. Moving them forward would help with 3.2oz of my problem that still leaves 8.8oz more to bal at 5 5/8". I just dont understand why h9 would design this plane so tail heavy.

Your CG is at 6" and it does not seem too tail heavy to you? If thats the case I can get mine to bal at 6" no problem.

Don't have enuff flights on it yet to form a good opinion. Very windy yesterday. At 6" its only 1/8" behind what the factory recommends, thats not that much. I think some of the later versions of this ARF had lighter fuse rears and tail sections.
I will be able to move the battery around to change the balance point.

I'm not sure how you figure that our, something times the distance from the cg, but the Caps are a short nosed plane and all of them suffer from the same problem. They tend to be tail heavy.

I FINALLY was able to get mine in the air this week. I have made about 5 flights so far. OS 1.60, hitec 605s all around, 1200mah NiHM battery right behind the firewall. I was able to easily balance mine at 5 5/8 with this set up. With just a little air time, I have already decided that the 5 5/8 is a little conservative, and will begin to move my battery back to find a better "neutral" balance. 6 inches will be my next CG point, then at 1/8 inch increments after that. I really love the way this baby flies!!!!!

First of all, GalenB is almost correct about the CG. Weight x Moment = Arm. Moment is the distance from CG, Arm is the amount that weight will affect the CG. In GalenB's example, 2 oz 10 in from CG gives an arm of 20 oz-in, whereas 5 oz 2 in from CG gives moment of 10 oz-in. This being said, 3.2 oz 30 in from CG gives moment of 96 oz-in. My nose weight is on my motor mount. Assuming yours is too, that is 12 in from CG. 8 oz 12 in from CG gives moment of 96 oz-in. Assuming you move your servos exactly to the CG, you will be able to take 8 oz off of the nose.
Anyway, I fly mine with CG at 5 5/8, and I can spin, flat spin, inside & outside snaps, lomshavoks, knife edge loops, anything you can think of.
By the way, I can hover my Cap at about 1/3 throttle with a Saito 1.80, APC 16X8 prop, Cool Power 15%

Yes, and I'm still very happy with it, although is old it flies solid as a rock. Mine still have the original covering and decals, I have a Irvine 150 on it.

I picked up on from some dud that put his though hell.. I took all the covering off of it and fixed all the bad spots and week spots in it.... 1/2 way though the covering now.. I put the 4 servos in the tail. I will be puting on a 40cc gas on it... I think it will do well.. I hope lol

Here is my Cap 232 being resarected. It was in bad shape when I started.. I have a quadra 40cc with 2 rings that has been modefide. It will have Ch ingition on it... I put the servos in the tail. In the pics right now the plane is 8 1/2 lbs.. I think I will be able to keep it at 15 lbs.. I hope.. If all goes right it should be a very nice plane..
