Default ARF Covering Problem

[8D]I just finished a WM T-34 which was my first WM and was very nice just as I expected, but the covering on the fuselague had some wrinkles so I went to iron out the wrinkles as suggested and they just got worst. I punctured the covering to let any hot gas out but nothing worked. I've been building for 30 years, but I am out of ideas. Won't hurt the flying, but I looks ugly. Any ideas?

I am also started working on a Modeltech ME 109 .40 sized ARF. General workmanship seems ok, not in the same league with WM, but OK. Covering is very bad. Tried to iron out wrinkles and the covering just streched more. If I can't improve the covering job, I may just toss it out and not waste time on it. Any ideas?

I am not a neatnick, but I don't want to show up at the field with a plane that has 10" long 1/4" high wrinkles all over it. Probably 8 or 9 total.

I found that with the ModelTech planes it helps if you use a iron and heatgun combo. I heat up the covering with a iron then go over it with a heatgun to smooth it out. Remember, the heat gun will shrink and the iron will activate the glue for a good stick.

I'm not master builder but this method works for me.

Right, use the heat gun to turn the wrinkle into a smooth bubble, let the bubble settle and then iron it down with the iron. Sometimes you do have to pin***** the bubble. The Chinese covering needs very high heat to shrink, less to stick.

I have seen recovered ARF's but most were those kind with the early on sticky back non shrink covering.

I took a look at the 3 Global ARF's I was given years ago.
A 1 armed blind person could do almost as well. They just do not last. Long slivers of raised covering.
Iron the cover off?
I need different projects to keep interest. [sm=bananahead.gif]

I have a few WM arfs and all of them are covered in their chinese made covering, it is thin not very adhesive and has very low shrink value. I have emailed them on this at their website but no replies! Basically use it until you cant stand it then rip it off and use Ultrakote or Oracover to replace it, thats what i have done and taken the oportunity to add glue to places that look shy too. They do fly well as models and I have no problem with that, but they also fit silly little wheels too which are useless on grass.
