From: abcde,
I am just about finishing up with this club trainer right now, and I noticed the tank is a good 1" below the carb needle. There doesn't seem to be any way to relocate the tank/engine location to put the mid tank fuel level closer to the needle location on this arf without significant mod. I am wondering if you guys with Avistar have any problems with fuel feed problems during low fuel situations? The engine is a Royal 40 ABC with a pressure tap at the muffler to pressurize the tank.
The other question is bracing for the landing gear. One controlled crash from a newbie, and I can easily see the main gear giving out. What bracing do you use to give the gears more strength?

I used an OS46 on mine and didn't have a problem with fuel draw, give it a shot.
I did not use any additional wheel bracing either and when I was learning I did put the gear to the test, so to speak. It really doesn't need it, just go out and fly it. Make sure you fly with an instructor and use a "buddy box" if you haven't already soloed.

When I had mine, it was the same. I didn't know it wasn't correct until after I soloed. Don't worry. Just make sure to keep it a little rich so that as the fuel is consumed, you don't run lean.

I used a Tower 40 with mine and never had a problem with the fuel. The engine ran great all of the time until the end.
Per your question about landing gear; I left my stock and bounced mine to a stop several times until I learned to land. The plane is robust.
