Hi Cyberwolf,
Please report how your Edge 540 works with the O.S. 1.60. I just ordered one and have not decided on an engine yet. I have two of the O.S. 1.60 FX engines and they are great for planes up to about 13lb.
Thanks,
Seth

Hello so far I havent got around to swaping out the engines yet ,the 160 I bought used was sold to me as is and the man wasn't honest about it ,it had a busted ring and no compression to speak of.So with the help of Frank Bowman I should have it up and going sometime next week then maybe the engine swap.
I'm a little worried about the plane being nose heavy its already boader line with the 120 YS and I think the 160 weighs more ,but haven't looked .I hate adding any extra weight to a plane for balance .

Hi Cyberwolf,
I love the O.S. 1.60 FX engines, but it may be overkill on the Edge 540 if it only weights 9 pounds. I have one on a H9 80" Cap 232 that is about 13 lbs and one on a 25% GP Extra 300 that is about 12.5 lbs. Both will hover at about 60% throttle with an APC 18X6W prop. I think I'm getting about 18 lbs of thrust out of them. I would have thought your YS 120 should hover a 9 lb airplane with some to spare? I'm with you, I hate adding weight to balance a plane.
Cheers,
Seth

Your post got my attention on the weight of this edge ,so before I loaded it up tonight I weighed it ,it rocks the scales at almost 12 lbs ,I knew it was a tad on the heavy side but not that much. Now you see why i'm seriously considering the 160 for the plane.I'll make that final decision tomorrow ,I changed props from a 16x8 graupner to a 16x8 APC that will give me about 4-500 more RPM's and it may be all the plane needs .
I think when they give a weight on the planes its a empty weight ,just the airframe alone .I will admit this much its well built and maybe over built to come up to this sort of weight. But here again the box does say its a 140 sized plane ,but it dosent say weather thats a 2 or 4 stroke engine .

Ok a up date on todays flying with the diff prop .hehehe the YS 120 has found a new home I was very pleased with the performance of it today with the APC prop.It will actually hover the plane not much left for pullout ,but I think thats doing something considering how much the plane weighs. Also the plane is not set up to 3-D really its a tad on the nose heavy side .Anyway i will find a home for my new 160 in something else
Happy landings all.

I also purchased the FlyBoy Sukhoi SU 26. I like the plane very much. Flys real smooth with good takeoff and landing transitions. Directions for putting together very vague.... more pictures than words. If I had not put a couple of planes together already I would have some trouble putting it together. Did epoxy total firewall inside and out as looked like it might need the support. I also had trouble right away with stripes coming off. So far covering is doing fine! I had a mid air collision at our flyin the other day. The first four to six inches of the left wing tip was knocked off; plus the aileron was knocked off and broke into. Believe to have clipped landing gear of the Little Toni at fast speed while I was starting to make a go around for another landing due to aircraft on runway. My Sukhoi only dipped the wing; I leveled it; flew to north end of field (several aircraft in the air); made a right turn and landed with the wind. Totally surprised that the plane flew as it did without the left aileron! If anyone knows where I can get information as to where I can see other available models please contact me at [email protected]

So how did the SR-71 go? I have had a few of the chinese ARFs and while I have found the quality of the products all over the map, the covering material has been worthless on all of them. I have had 2 of the richmodels brand, both were the same KEE CAT. The first was a total joke, it was replaced by the second, but isn't much better aside from everything lining up with the pre-installed allignment pins. After deciding to recover this one too, broken factory repairs everywhere, terrible wood and glue joints. I am affraid to waste time finishing it, let alone fly the thing

I have to agree the covering they use is somewhat less than desireable and just like any other ARF they need to be checked over and reglued in places, maybe even add some wood in places also.
But when I can get a 75 inch WS plane for less the 100.00, I figure I can recover it and still come out on top of things.
